We got them and I thought I was being sneaky by putting it on an apple then eating only the caramel off the apple. I’m sure my mom must have noticed the whole apple in the garbage…
At this point we ate sugar toast. Broiled white bread toast with butter, a lot of sugar, and some cinnamon. My 70s /80s taste buds are not to be trusted.
After school snack: Two slices of toast slathered in butter and cinnamon sugar
Breakfast: Cheerios with enough sugar to form a thick sludge on the bottom of the bowl
My mom wouldn't let me have sugar cereal or very much candy or cookies, but apparently pure sugar was fine
We got fancy with this: mix softened butter with sugar and cinnamon, and then use it as a spread on the bread, then toast it. A+ coverage and it would get hard and crunchy like a candy coating.
I loved these when I was a kid. The caramel tasted just like Kraft caramels, but it didn't go around an apple as well as it should have. I used to just eat the sheet of caramel and skip the apple entirely. Ha ha ha.
I loved them but i admit they cheaped out and made them too small for standard apples....it fit apples like a tutu and not draped and robed in caramel deliciousness like the commercials and what my kid brain wanted.
It had a Facebook page…. Millennial food product. This was not available in our grocery store. However, caramel apples are for sale in the case this time of year. I dunk slices for my son in caramel all the time, but he’s 5 and can’t eat an entire apple.
Mine didn't buy this, and we didn't have much money either. Money could have been the reason we didn't have this, or it could be as I said before that my mom knew I'd eat the caramel right away. It was probably both.
Yeah nah...
When I was still eating sugar, I'd buy a couple of the pre-made "Affy Tapple" caramel apples every fall when fresh apples were in season.
I've never been super fond of sweets (I'm more of a salt fiend than sugar) but I would treat myself to a few fall specific treats now and then... cider donuts, caramel apples, etc.
I remember these. They are still made but Kraft doesn't own them anymore.

It was good when you ate 'em right out of the package.
That’s what we did, too. Always had good intentions to put them on apples. Always ended up eating flat caramel discs.
You do know you could buy like a pound of kraft or beach's carmels for like a third less then this kit costs.
Oh, for sure. But we’d buy them, so certain that THIS time we’d put them on apples. And then we wouldn’t. Caramel tortillas, anyone?
Like caramel Roll-Ups.
Apples only ruined them.
We got them and I thought I was being sneaky by putting it on an apple then eating only the caramel off the apple. I’m sure my mom must have noticed the whole apple in the garbage…
I dig the way you live, Mary.
Tasty

You just nailed my childhood food dynamic to a T.
I'm 56, so my go to is Raisin Bran with that nice coating of sugar. TAKE THAT, MOM!!!
Same!
Cinnamon toast. I need to make some.
So good with tea or hot chocolate!
I may still do this. Maybe. It might also be delicious. But I may not know if it's delicious, if I don't still eat cinamon/sugar toast.
We got fancy with this: mix softened butter with sugar and cinnamon, and then use it as a spread on the bread, then toast it. A+ coverage and it would get hard and crunchy like a candy coating.
I still eat this sometimes!
That's our alternative breakfast, I still do this from time to time.
This was a staple at my house, so good.
Soooo goood.....havent had it in years but its amazing. ....powdered sugar, not cane!!
Did you ever make powdered sugar & peanut butter balls, yum yum yum!
YES YES YES still do! you gotta get the ratio right, tons of sugar! so good. dip them in chocolate chips i melt in microwave because fancy.
I like the refrigerated version like that, tastes like fudge
same here, small miracle I didn't end up with diabetes
"Ooh, Mom. Can we get these?" "No, we'll just get a bag of the caramel squares." Then she just never went down the aisle with the caramels & candy.
Was awful and didn’t really work that well.
My filling just fell out looking at this.
I guess I'll spend $50 to have my crown glued back on.
Speaking of nostalgia that sounds like 90’s pricing for dental work
I think I paid $41 a few months ago but that was probably just my portion.
I loved these when I was a kid. The caramel tasted just like Kraft caramels, but it didn't go around an apple as well as it should have. I used to just eat the sheet of caramel and skip the apple entirely. Ha ha ha.
Actually a decent idea, but fail.
Lol, sooo bad for the teeth. Remember trying these and went back to melting brachs caramels 😂
I always just ate the caramel off, don't be bringing healthy to my sweets!
Always excited to buy these but disappointing when you made them.
It was like that with jiffy pop too.
These were delicious. There were red candy ones, too. My mother would buy a package of each every hallowe’en.
Kraft CEO: “Gentleman, anything new we can do with our goo slicers?”
They never fit around the apples.
Those were sooooo good
Wow … memories ….
Remember it? It is featured item in my weekly shopper.
It was not
You had me at "sheets of Caramel" lol the give no fucks generation!
I think my mom avoided buying this because she knew I would just eat the caramel out of the box.
YEP! lol
I saw these just the other day at our Kroger store!
We ate these sooo much as kids! My mom loved caramel apples of any kind, and I have great memories of making these.
I loved them but i admit they cheaped out and made them too small for standard apples....it fit apples like a tutu and not draped and robed in caramel deliciousness like the commercials and what my kid brain wanted.
My dad made us chocolate bananas from something similar, I think. In the 70s.
Wow! Six free sticks!
I do as well, they were good, but nothing like you would get at the fair or stadium. More like a slice of cheese consistency not the hard candy shell
I just saw a video from Dave england of Jackass claim he created wrapples and thought that could be an idea to try. https://youtu.be/O0tixt54rd4
As others said, they didn’t work as well as you thought they would. And caramel apples are kinda gross, aren’t they?
It had a Facebook page…. Millennial food product. This was not available in our grocery store. However, caramel apples are for sale in the case this time of year. I dunk slices for my son in caramel all the time, but he’s 5 and can’t eat an entire apple.
Loved Wrapples.
Too expensive for my family!
Mine didn't buy this, and we didn't have much money either. Money could have been the reason we didn't have this, or it could be as I said before that my mom knew I'd eat the caramel right away. It was probably both.
way better than the ones with the hard sugar shell that were nearly impossible to eat without cracking a tooth
They still sell them. But yeah, worked great as a kid.
Worse idea: candy apples or caramel apples?
I'm convinced that candy apples were developed as primitive thrown weapons.
Candy apples were terrible because they would shatter and send sugary shrapnel everywhere. Caramel > candy.
And caramel has a flavor. The candy was just red-dyed sugar.

I remember them and that my mom bought them for us ! They were pretty good and the first time I ate a caramel apple
6 “free sticks”? By that definition everything I’m the bag is free lol asshole marketers
Yes! Great concept, but the execution was bad...
Yummy
Yes and they were only good when you ate them off the cellophane.
