Three days before my first’s induction, they said baby was 8 lbs 8 oz at 39 weeks. The ultrasound tech said she’d never been off more than a lb. Baby was born 6 lbs 12 oz. She has a big head, so the calculations were off, but my doctor had been scaring me about a big baby and even told me not to get newborn clothes, but skip straight to 0-3 months. We were in the NICU for jaundice and they kindly gave us a premie sleeper to take her home in!
That’s a weird thing for the ultrasound tech to say. I find it hard to believe she follows up on every patient to find out what their birth weight was and compares it to her estimate. Would that even be possible?
My team acknowledged that Us estimates in the 3rd trimester a notoriously inaccurate so they don’t make any decisions based solely on the weight measurement.
At 37 weeks they estimated that he was 8 pounds, “give or take a pound” with tummy in the 97% and femur in the 7%. I was worried he’d be a wonky baby.
He was born at 39 weeks at 7.5 pounds and he didn’t look strangely proportioned at all!
My first (didn't have GD) was estimated 3lbs 14oz by MFM, 4lbs exact by ultrasound tech about a week before I had her. She came out 3lbs 14.8oz.
My second (I had GD) the ultrasound tech said 5lbs 12oz, a resident doctor did an "old school" technique to guesstimate size and said 5lbs 8oz. My son was born the next day at 4lbs 14oz 😂🙃
My first was estimated to be around 8lbs and she was 8lbs 7oz at 39+1 when she was born. No GD
This guy is my linebacker baby and I was told he was 6lbs 1oz at 32 weeks. We will see what he ends up!

Considering my OB’s comments about it, I imagine it was discussed after births, yes.
Per the scans my team said baby was looking at 10lb+. Induced at 39w and he was 8lb. Theres definitely room for error on the scans!
About 4200g, she came a week later being 3710g.
