Nice. I've only won the random pistol once in the last 2 years shooting at 2 ranges (picked up a 43). That said, I have more field knives, travel mugs, shirts, hats, wall plaques, and 250/500 patches than I know what to do with lmao. My local range runs all 3 series within the month on the odd months so we get 6 matches a year. Get yourselves to an outdoor match, those are more fun. I managed to win 3 pistols last year.

Uuggghhhhhhhhh

How many people competed? I’ve always wanted to go to one but it seems like there’s never one near me

adamjackson1984

Indoor matches are much different. It’s first Monday of the month and you must compete in 2 of 3 months to qualify for prizes. 15 or so shooters and I finished 3rd in the MOS category but overall, I performed pretty poorly. The free gun for indoor is a random drawing and not based on how well you did. My overall score was 488/500 for MOS and I scored 460/500 for stock (G26 which is impossible to shoot well at 75 feet). This is my third quarter doing GSSF matches and I’ve won a hat and a pistol. Outdoor matches are done differently. Total spend is I do every month with 3 pistols (G34, G19x and G26) so it’s $40 a month before ammo (about 150 rounds per match of 9mm). So I’ve spent $360 on matches before ammo and won a hat at a pistol. But I had a lot of fun!!!

Uuggghhhhhhhhh

The competition itself just seems like a lot of fun, the free stuff is just added bonus

adamjackson1984

TOTALLY! I don’t need to win anything. I’ve met so many great people and honestly, some great shooting mentors at these events who helped me in a lot of ways. I spend more time talking and hanging out than shooting. This was just icing on the cake b

nathansosick

What gun did you win it with?

adamjackson1984

I actually don't know yet. I have a 19X, G34 and G26 and really don't have any other Glocks I need. I'll probably go 10mm or 45ACP simply because all of my 45s are 1911s and it'd be cool to have a big-caliber Glock. Then again, I do a lot of overnight hikes in the woods in bear country so a 10mm would be nice. I'm going to think on it for a few days. I just drop the form off at my gun store and they'll mail it in for me when I'm ready.

nathansosick

I would just go 10mm but what I was mainly asking is what gun did you use to win the competition?

adamjackson1984

oh crap. sorry I totally didn't tread your post correctly. I shot with all 3 pistols I own but the Glock 34 MOS (with a 509T Holosun) is what I scored the highest on. I'm more accurate with the Walther Q5 Match and the 507 Comp but obviously GSSF doesn't allow that. all of my Glocks are stock except Red Dot & Glock performance Trigger.

Svsu11

I’m kind of shocked the g17 and g19 aren’t totally free as those are the main image of Glock.

orangecrushjedi

So you do get to pick what you want when you win? I won this quarter, just haven't been contacted by my local ffl yet

adamjackson1984

I’m not sure yet. I haven’t redeemed it.

trivial_viking

Interesting the 30S isn’t listed. Oversight? Discontinued? Gen 5 coming? Also, no .357’s available anymore but 45 GAP models are still hanging on. I’ve also seen people claim the 26.5 MOS is a distributor exclusive but that seems to not be the case being on this sheet.

vansonmyfeet99

The 26 MOS is not distributor exclusive, I’ve seen them in gun stores all over my state (WA) since we have a mag cap now.

trivial_viking

Yeah, good to hear. Picked one up online for myself last year but hadn’t seen them in stores around me.
