That sucks. Is it covered under warranty? I’ve been gaming on my LG CX OLED for years and no burns. I was scared to go OLED for this reason. Glad I went with LG.
It’s a Sony XR55A80K. I wouldn’t consider it top if the line but it’s definitely not “incredibly cheap” either.
I’ve been gaming for decades including numerous racing games and putting in actual marathon gaming sessions and never experienced image retention before. Are you saying this is my fault?
Currently have this same issue with my LG monitor only where the tire indicators are. Definitely put some time in on it today so it could possibly be that.
I’ve only been play gt7 for a couple weeks, and today was the first day I messed around with the display settings. Put it on 120hz (don’t know why I didn’t have it on initially) and ray tracing mode, looked incredible but when I went to get off I noticed it and was quite curious.
I’ve been familiar with the AFK credit option since pimping the Escudo on PS2. Just knew I’d come back to actually playing the game at some point in that case
Burn in on a LED? That’s really strange. Why don’t you claim it under the warranty? My 10 year old plasma get image retention on GT, and I thought burn in at one stage in the same spot, but never anything permanent.
Update: did screen refresh with no result.
Turned off GT7 and let my son play his games and after a week the image retention is gone. So I’m paying attention to it but not grumpy any more.
Update: Let my son play other games for a week and the image retention has gone away. Still paying attention to not playing the same game for hours to minimize the risk!

Definitely not. The major tv manufacturers determine burn in (image retention) to be the user's fault.
Lame.
I recently got a G2 and reading this gives me sort of a peace of mind knowing i wont have burn in issues.
Got the Lg Cx as well a few years back no burn in either.
LG is definitely on the menu
That's a balls about the Sony though, not good enough. They don't come cheap !!!
How many hours a day you playing it?
It was my primary game after my wife bought it for me, so 3+ reliably
Wait... you've had the game a little over a month tho. So you either put in a LOT of hours a day, or it's an incredibly cheap brand tv

That's an OLED, not LED. Explains the burn-in a bit.
I’m learning all sorts of things today. Fixed the original post
Opportunity to buy a LG C3 👍
Do they make them in 65”
Yes, I have an LG C2 65" right here. They also make them in 85"... think about it. Could you really live without an 85" TV?
Yes. And it wouldn’t fit my tv stand or my house. 65-75” is perfect.
Well, if you are seriously considering a new TV the C Series is 👍 But I also think you should investigate warranty with that Sony.

I hope that it fades for you like it did for me

Did the image retention end up fading?
Yes it did! Its only sticks around after a race for a little bit then disappears. Or if I play a different game it’s gone. Weird little bug.
Ez. Sell the TV and spent the tv money to buy microtransactions
Now THAT was funny
Thx i guess. Feel free to google or YouTube how to do the pixel refresh feature on your tv.
Did a panel refresh, still seeing it. Will pursue getting a replacement
Super common on LED screens with the game ui burn in. Happened to me on a brand new LG a few years back
Post like this is why I'm glad my tv has a picture off mode comes in handy with the current money grind.
How do you drive with the picture off
I'm afk when I'm doing this
They're putting rubber bands around their controllers while having a race going on an oval track and wall riding the whole thing for credits while afk

Seemingly it's an OLED
Making a mental note to not to buy an OLED.
