BritishSAsianMalePod

false. We have the statistics. Savanta Comres 2018. Hindu and Sikh majorities supported same sex marriage. Muslims did not. Different polls say different things but some near 0% and the highest is at around 20% for Muslims who support total LGBT rights. Again, stop calling everyone against Islam racist.

How do the left love Islam? The left values freedom of religious choice but are generally more secular.

BritishSAsianMalePod

Supporting open border Muslim migration which leads to the far right winning support because they annoy people , allowing Islamic faith schools, allowing Saudi influenced terrorist preachers in mosques, pro Hamas marches ….

Ardashasaur

The left don't support faith schools. Greens especially so by removing charitable status of those schools. Open borders are open borders, it's not like it's explicitly encouraging muslims to enter. It would be pretty racist to just exclude people by religion. All those things you are talking about has happened under right wing conservative government so I don't know why you are complaining about The Greens, or what you want the Greens to actually do

BritishSAsianMalePod

i wouldn’t call for a muslim ban but i’d seriously consider saying look - we have to immediately end migration from very conservative Muslim countries such as Saudi or Qatar.

Ardashasaur

Saudi and Qatar are a tiny tiny amount of migrants who settle in UK. You could ban them and it would actually be a negligible impact on immigration numbers. I don't think your solutions are going to be effective for your problems

BritishSAsianMalePod

pakistan then.

BritishSAsianMalePod

the real point here is this is on the left. i’m not right wing, you can’t trust them to do the right thing. RW politics is basically based on hating poor people. No point asking them for help. I want to change my side.

BOKUtoiuOnna

As a leftist I agree that Muslim beliefs are pretty much incompatible with many of mine. However, I sort of don't see how we criticise Muslims as a group without falling into the same bullshit that lead to so much violence against Jews in the past. They "refused to integrate", "have values incompatible to our society", "are more loyal to their corrupt international community than to their home country", "are causing moral degredation in European society", "are, by nature, always conspiring to uproot civilisations and impose their way on us". Rhetoric like this has lead to genocidal fascism in the past. So I would rather focus on encouraging less economic inequality and more integration rather than demonising anyone.

BritishSAsianMalePod

i think a lot of us are just angry mate tbh. anger can lead to hate. i try to stay sane but sooner or later i will hate if ppl keep silencing me and i don’t want to turn into that person.

DancingMoose42

I think you make a very good point, in the UK you can openly criticise the church of England or someone's catholic views, but you do the same for Muslims and the left especially will hound you. We need a more balanced approach on the left otherwise more and more will go the way of reform.
