why are you guys trolling the new guitar player and trying to discourage him? that is very clearly a rehydrator node and we should not be telling him otherwise. smh.
Almost. It's the reversed version. The retro turbo encabulator, available only on vintage encapsulated units. A truly state-of-the-art device that will forever fulfill your encabulating tonal needs
> You okay brother? Also that guy shouldn’t work at a guitar if he said that it’s for anything else
I think he works at a store that sells guitars, not just at a guitar
Is being dropped on your head a prerequisite for music store retail? I know it was the common theme with all my coworkers when I used to work at GameSpot.
I would hire the guy only if I pointed at a piano and said what is this and he replied with, "An instrument of some kind?" With a shoulder shrug and a thumbs up
Yeah that guy either knows literally nothing about guitars or he was straight up bullshitting you.
Don't try to tighten that screw. You'll strip the threads out of the wood, and then you won't have a mount for your guitar strap.
the classic acoustics were designed to be played sitting, some older school ones have a peg on the bottom and the strap is tied to the head of the guitar with something like a shoelace. I had a strap with a hooky thing on the end that hooked into the big hole and shifted the balance of a guitar with this design closer to how an electric hangs. The second peg shown in your photo is how an electric guitar strap would work and reflects a modern take on designing acoustic guitars.
There should be another on the bottom of the guitar they fit most straps. Get the rubber washer from two Grolsch beer bottle and use it as a lock, so the strap won't slide out
You can also get a lamp cable and attach it to them, plug into the other socket of the plug your stereo is on and BOOM.... free amp
(I am disclosing no fault if anyone actually does this)
I am new too, only 2.5 months now. I suppose almost all had happen this but beware some cheap straps. Mine suddenly loose and i almost drop my quitar. 😄Now i have strap with lockheads.
I'm gonna disagree here.
The D'addario Auto Lock straps are far faster and simpler to attach, and they hold far more securely than rubber washers. They also release the guitar more simply.
I've seen others drop their guitars while fumbling with rubber washers. I can put my auto locks on or take them off while standing, one handed, with no additional risk of dropping the guitar.
And they don't require any change at all to your strap buttons.
Hey man.. whatever floats your boat.. or secures your strap. Idk how you could drop your guitar fumbling with the silicones. You really should put them on and take them off while the guitar is safe laying down. Once the strap is secured on both sides it stays that way. Then you just go over your head with the strap.
That’s just every Strap without lockheads, even more expensive ones become loose because of sweat heat and usage. I would always recommend to invest into Lockheads
There should be another one at the fatty bottom part of the guitar. Connect jumper cables to them so, you guessed it, get a jump start on your career as a musician. Hiyo!
Lol this post gets a bunch of answers and likes but I ask if the binding around a fretboard is just painted or a separate piece and instantly downvotes and a-holes telling me to use the web and not ask that stuff here cause google is my friend apparently hahahaha
Guitar strap, my guy. I'm not going to look through all the comments because I know that the majority of them are going to piss me off. It's okay to not know things or immediately recognize them. It's how we learn. To all the gatekeepers, fuck you 🖕
What a bunch of tossers most of you are you’re the type that. Bullied kids at school . We were all Newbies once !!! Give him some kind honest advice don’t be a bunch of prize twats . I’m darn sure I could embarrass most of you with certain questions about your guitars . I restore vintage guitars for a hobby and am studying a luthiers course I’m 71 years young and this guy has been duped . We all can see what’s wrong and it needs fixing try a little Christianity in your lives or do you think making fun of a fellow human just starting out needs to be treated this way by so many of you what a bunch of a holes .my friend if you want some kind advice just contact me it’s gonna involve spending a wee bit of money the strap holder is going to get in the way if you leave it there when you’ve learnt to play and want to get up a couple of octaves ! I don’t believe any of you are following community rules . It must be so hard all of you who drubbed this poor guy to all be so perfect !!!
It's for a guitar strap, but if you're gonna be playing standing up a lot, i would invest in a nice set of either grover or schaller strap locks. They're super easy to install, you just swap them out. Nothing is worse that playing and then feeling your strap pop off and now your guitar is barreling towards the floor at mach 6 speed. Here's a nice set of schaller ones. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StrapLkSchC--schaller-s-locks-security-strap-locks-chrome
It's for holding your guitar with a strap to play while standing up most of the time.. just be carefull and be sure that it won't unscrew and drop your guitar to the ground..
It holds one end of your guitar strap. There should be one one the other end of the body to hold the other end of the strap (if your guitar is acoustic/electric then the end pen may double as the jack for your instrument cable).
If you attach a battery, it causes your target two points of shock damage and one point of blunt force damage, but you get one point of shock damage as well Though if you talk to the man at the guitar counter, you can get a side quest to obtain some shock resistant gloves, which neutralizes the one point of shock damage that you get I wouldn’t skip this quest. It has some decent story and lore to it too.
Its the “skill” button. Once you press it you will be able to immediately play guitar like a master. Its the reason many guitar gods exist, they just press that button!
That's the turbo encabulator.
Bullshit. It's the hyperspace access port.
It’s a Weezil Zapper, created by Franklin and the mothers of invention in 1969.
Looks just like a Telefunken U-47
with leather?
***LETS TALK ABOUT LEEEEEEAAAAAATTTHHHHHEEEEEERRRRRRRR***
Hell bent for that stuff
Larry’s not with us anymore…. He bit the big one
Nah, it's a flux capacitor
99% sure that's a Klein transtabulator
Metal masturbator.
why are you guys trolling the new guitar player and trying to discourage him? that is very clearly a rehydrator node and we should not be telling him otherwise. smh.
You’ll love it.
Lmoa
Wrong. It's the Knuten valve.
Exactly! Right next to the logarithmic casing, to prevent side fumbling.
No this is the turbo combabulator. The encabulator is on the other side of the guitar.
I always get those mixed up! It's like the high E is closer to the ground, what?!
Imagine if musical notes were measured by altitude
Bifurcation spandrels
Does that fit into the lunar waneshaft or does it connect directly to the semi-boloid slots of the stator?
It effectively prevents side fumbling
If employed with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm, it also reduces sinusoidal repleneration.
tell him its the turbo-encabulator type c... be precise
Almost. It's the reversed version. The retro turbo encabulator, available only on vintage encapsulated units. A truly state-of-the-art device that will forever fulfill your encabulating tonal needs
It's the best kind, made of pre-famulated amulite.
Don’t forget the malleable logarithmic casing.
So you can attach a guitar strap
The man in the guitar store guy me it was something else Thanks for actually telling me what this screw was for :)
Did he tell you it was the turbo encabulator? Because that's also correct.
This thread is hilarious.
Bullshit. It’s the hyperspace access port.
It’s a Weezil Zapper, created by Franklin and the mothers of invention in 1969.
You okay brother? Also that guy shouldn’t work at a guitar if he said that it’s for anything else
> You okay brother? Also that guy shouldn’t work at a guitar if he said that it’s for anything else I think he works at a store that sells guitars, not just at a guitar
I think that’s just called busking
I’ve never taken my guitar to a busker to ask him how to fix it but I guess it’s better than Guitar Center probably
What dod he tell you it was for?
He told me it’d bring the fretboard closer to strings so it’d be easier to press down the strings
Employee referred to the cut out not the strap button
I thought maybe someone confused it with the truss rod adjustment....
That’s all I could think of with “bring the fretboard closer to the strings” he may have misunderstood or shop guy may actually be dumb.
Is being dropped on your head a prerequisite for music store retail? I know it was the common theme with all my coworkers when I used to work at GameSpot.
"I keep turning the damned thing and it still plays like shit"
I would hire the guy only if I pointed at a piano and said what is this and he replied with, "An instrument of some kind?" With a shoulder shrug and a thumbs up
That is in fact what the employee was incorrectly referencing. The other guy thinking it meant the cutout is also incorrect.
Yeah, right! That's what he was talking about.
Yeah that guy either knows literally nothing about guitars or he was straight up bullshitting you. Don't try to tighten that screw. You'll strip the threads out of the wood, and then you won't have a mount for your guitar strap.
OP probably asked "what's the screw in the neck for" and guy thought he meant the truss bolt at the headstock.
Lmao
Pussy magnet duh
Probably messing with you
Either he was screwing with you, or you need to find a new guitar store.
Well, if he was in the guitar store guy he was probably distracted.
the classic acoustics were designed to be played sitting, some older school ones have a peg on the bottom and the strap is tied to the head of the guitar with something like a shoelace. Gotta hook a car battery to both of those. That’s at least how to make it acoustic/electric…follow me for more tips 😎👍🏻
Thankssss I was trying my best to figure out what that thing was where to find a car battery tho
Wait are you being fr holy shit???!!
Man electric guitars are very expensive if this works then I’m gonna save myself a 150 bucks
I'm rolling Congrats on your new guit-box dude!
Be safe out there, lotta morons on the inter webs 🫡
You can also get a lamp cable and attach it to them, plug into the other socket of the plug your stereo is on and BOOM.... free amp (I am disclosing no fault if anyone actually does this)
I love how you're rolling with the punches here
Got a much better reaction then I expected ngl 😂
Dude, OP is certified *fuckin' rad.*
Head to your local Walmart. They should have free ones sitting in the parking lot. Just gotta be quick to grab
Thanks for the advice bro I shall try to find a battery for my guitar
Yeah, they usually keep them in metal boxes that look like cars. Parking lot area.
This had me rolling 🤣
Gotta remember though that 12V from car battery is not enough for all music genres, e.g. AC/DC requires 220-240V.
Following
Want more advice? The internets a weird place, don’t take everything you see as valid.
I believe everything I read on the internets and I’m ok *puts phone in microwave for 2 minute charge*
No no don’t put the phone in by itself, fast rapid charging if you wrap it in foil first
Self destruct button. Press it if you miss a note.
Man it’ll help me from a lot of embarrassment in the future
I am new too, only 2.5 months now. I suppose almost all had happen this but beware some cheap straps. Mine suddenly loose and i almost drop my quitar. 😄Now i have strap with lockheads.
Strap locks are your friend.
I got a list of ddarrio brand locks for 1.50 on Amazon somehow
I just use the rubber washer type. Works perfectly.
Yep.. and less hassle than the locking ones.
Only time the locking ones are better is if you have a favorite strap- if each guitar has their own then washers are the move
I'm gonna disagree here. The D'addario Auto Lock straps are far faster and simpler to attach, and they hold far more securely than rubber washers. They also release the guitar more simply. I've seen others drop their guitars while fumbling with rubber washers. I can put my auto locks on or take them off while standing, one handed, with no additional risk of dropping the guitar. so are Grolsch beer bottles
That’s just every Strap without lockheads, even more expensive ones become loose because of sweat heat and usage. I would always recommend to invest into Lockheads
You can get little rubber/silicone ones that go over the top of any strap you want, really keeps those straps on secure
It’s not cheap straps, it’s straps in general. Unless you put strap locks on them, bad things can happen.
I honestly had to double check that I wasn’t on r/guitarcirclejerk
Oh shit, you're right.. I thought it was
If it's not there already, it will be very soon haha
Four your guitar strap, other end is on the bottom.
two understand this comment one must comprehend maths
Not gonna lie. I don't like these numbers I'm seeing.
Those who dont get understand need to go outside and touch some grass, maybe look at some threes
yeah, i hope everyone who dont get understand burn to death in a five
All these maths jokes are kinda sixy
Happy Cake day!
It's a renoberator knob. It means your guitar neck had a defect that was found at the factory. I'll take if off your hands cheap.
Let’s trade for 3 pizzas and an earphone
So it’s used for strap, there also should be second one if you look around.
Good question, it's so you can attach a guitar strap which will enable you to play standing up (and wave it about like you're a rockstar!)
Yes. We could. We could even do in a non-ridiculing way. But what’s the fun of that.
Flux Capacitor activation
It's the talent simulator ignition switch.
Strap button.
It's for the guitar strap
Side note, it might be the angle of the picture but the action on it looks super high
It transforms the guitar into a Flying V
It’s the guitar’s clitoris.
you use these to put a strap over it
There should be another one at the fatty bottom part of the guitar. Connect jumper cables to them so, you guessed it, get a jump start on your career as a musician. Hiyo!
if u thighten it up the universe will collapse
This is the sweetest question. That’s where you pour the diesel in

Thought it was a bus street.
“Kinda new” …has never seen a guitar before.
A button for your strap to hold onto. I like that they make them like this now. I used to have a strap for my acoustic. It was a pain in the ass.
It's for holding your guitar with a strap to play while standing up most of the time.. just be carefull and be sure that it won't unscrew and drop your guitar to the ground..
Tech me Sensei

Come on, even people who aren't into guitar know that's the volume knob
That’s how you re-confooble the energy-mo-tron, or whatever
Thumb rest for soloing.
It's to stimulate you while you play. A lil tease
Woman tried selling me a guitar few years back that was 'semi acoustic'......turns out it was this when I arrived
It’s for the guitar strap. The strap has a little hole in it that slips around it.

#Thats the clit!!, congrats you found it!!
It holds one end of your guitar strap. There should be one one the other end of the body to hold the other end of the strap (if your guitar is acoustic/electric then the end pen may double as the jack for your instrument cable).
