There is no gravity regulation in a mobile suit, everything just gets fastened down. The shock absorption is just the springs under the seat, and hydraulics in the legs. There are no other rooms on 99.99% of mobile suit. Some have missile silos converted into transport containers, and some have optional equipment to deploy troops

Ednw

>Some have missile silos converted into transport containers Strange way to spell cow enclosure.

Cashew-Matthew

Figured that would just be more confusing

Big_Green_Piccolo

Except for G-Gundam which totally has gravity in its cockpits

tiersanon

IBO has gravity/inertial control in their cockpits as well according to the worldbooks. Side effect of Ahab reactors.

leapsthroughspace

If you’re asking if there’s a bathroom, G-Reco has thoroughly addressed this consideration.

Kirby0189

That second scene was such a WTF moment.

Jegan92

Well it's either that or a pee bag. Like modern fighter pilots.

ZGMF-X09A_Justice

I think Athrun has a hidden sex dungeon in the Infinite Justice Type II.

LoupGarouHikaru56

Mythical Cagalli Shrine

MercZ11

Outside of some special cases like the Loto which has room for infantry or the Turn A's chest cavities, mechs will usually just have a cockpit and no other "rooms". Shock absorption is shown in some series with a gel-like material that deploys out of the console to prevent a pilot from slamming into it.  Gravity isn't regulated in the suit. They're strapped into a chair which is in turn probably bolted into the frame.

Polkadot_Girl

That's not gel, its just an airbag.

RoapeliusDTrewn

The pilot suit itself definitely has some level of cushioning along with other essential life support systems.

Nobody_Holiday

Talking about uc there are no MS with other room besides the cockpit There isn’t gravity inside the cockpits of any MS of the uc and shock absorption before the advent of linear seat cockpit was nonexistent If you watch Char’s counterattack there is a scene where Guynei jagd doga ejects some sort of airbag to prevent the pilot from hitting the command panels in front of him

ZGMF-X09A_Justice

Does the airbag really mean they didn't have some kind of anti-g's or shock-absportion tech? I would've though the airbags was just a last resort.

SignificantHippo8193

I would assume there is only so much you can do to absorb shock. Remember, while it's hard to see, in space these suits are breaking the sound barrier several times. Imagine coming to an almost complete stop after going like Mach 5. Especially so in space where there isn't the same level of resistance as there would be on planet. That, and the suits can only hold so much. Dedicated Anti-G would need a huge compartment to hold it in and it's just not viable in a mobile suit. (hell, it wouldn't be viable in a ship specifically designed for space at similar sizes.) Adding airbags and the like is just one of the ways they try to keep pilots from getting severe whiplash from the constant accelerating and decelerating they are exposed to in the cockpits.

MosesOnAcid

Technically there is an empty space in half of a Zaku's chest...

Womgi

I was gonna say this. It's mostly clear in thunderbolt, yhough I do remember seeing it in the side 7 attack episode of MSG. If I had to lore build, the zeon specifications probably had a requirement that was like "we should make sure the pilot is super protected so maybe keep them behind a structurally solid piece of Armor, so that impact is distributed along the frame if they get hot from the front" which is like a logical thing when the previous generation of armored vehicles was tanks. And then the engineering team was like "yeah sounds great, let's do an offset entry thing, should satisfy that requirement". And then they went into the reality of combat with high velocity projectiles, massive amounts of explosives and beam weapons and so on and got to the point that the next design was preceded by "you know what, fuck that. A hit to that area is gonna frag the pilot anyway. That's a cubic meter of space we could use for a bigger reactor, or more cooling, or electronics. A nice armored hatch is plenty"

Highwind121

The empty space is actually where nuclear protection went in the C type. Since the Antarctic Treaty banned nukes they tore out all the radiation shielding for the F type.

Avaposter

The Astray Out Frame has a striker pack that has a small living area in it.

BoldlyGettingThere

Big Zam has a smoking room with a really beautiful rug in front of the hearth.

Daishomaru

The Loto has a troop compartment.

Prinkaiser

Because it was built with that purpose in mind.

AronTheNotSoWise

Typically they only have cockpits, but there are variats that carry extra troops like the Guntank in Thunderbolt.

Left-Night-1125

Depends which franchise mecha, not all are a Spaceship that becomes a mecha like Power Rangers or Ramrod/Bismark from Saber Rider.

RoapeliusDTrewn

Gravity isn't, at all. Shock absorbtion is completely dependent on which era, series, etc... Something during the UC era would be just the seat, springs, hydraulics etc. Something like the Strike Freedom on the other hand? God knows... Insert some fancy ass fictional tech to do with nanomachines here. Nanomachines son, nanomachines.

theCoffeeDoctor

Rooms? Not really. At least nothing depicted in shows and artbooks. Gravity isn't manipulated, so pilots feel the lack of gravity in outer-space sorties. This kinda makes sense, it's a humanoid machine in zero-gravity space, their navigational sense and performance would be affected if they have artificial gravity in the suits. G-Gundam does ignore this completely, as we don't see Domon floating inside the trace system. But again, its G-Gundam and we'd need our heads checked if we're questioning that series for this. Shock absorption is not shown. Some of the gunpla does have things that look like they absorb shock. But just as the cockpits in various series seem to all have inconsistent depictions of air, pressure, and temperature control, but all of which magically 'just work', let's just assume there's a mcgaffin for shock too. The fact that Trowa Barton isn't a liquified pool of organic mass does suggest that pilots are protected from shock.

QiarroFaber

The linear seat in later cockpits is designed to move around to absorb some of the momentum. While the equivalent of an airbag is used in the event the force is too strong. Char's Counter Attack has a good example of it during the final fight between Char and Amuro.
