If they had to score a consolation goal, I'm so fucking glad it was him.

BubbleBailey23

Yeah if we give away goals, at least to former Arsenal players who we like plz

Tears in my eyes man

Elfking88

What a nice moment :)

Franchise1109

Yeah absolutely. I’m glad he’s finally gotten fit for them again. I like to watch our former academy produced when I can. Think guys like akpom, AMN etc…. Super happy it was him. Didn’t really celebrate either. Which is class, love guys that don’t forget where they came from.

VisibleGhost

I shrugged and went "Fair enough Joe. Nice goal. I'm happy for him."

YSG19

My fantasy team with Gabriel and Raya isn’t so happy about it

Cthulhu_Madness

Once a gunner always a gunner. Glad he's appreciative of the reception .

Cheesy_Pita_Parker

Evergreen top tier meme. Never drops a level

Chromus23

Much love for Joe. He didn’t reach his peak with us, but got us a nice chunk of change. Plus, he’s a good example that the academy can lead to a PL career even if Arsenal doesn’t work out!

Elfking88

The amount of Arsenal players up and down the league is crazy. I watch the Football League Show on ITV and so often a name will pop up and it will be an ex-Academy player.

Qr8rz

Even just considering ex-goalkeepers, Leno, Fabiański, and Martínez were all starters in the Premier League last season. Fabiański now not so much.

captainstrange94

Still, fabianski got to play in PL for nearly a decade after leaving Arsenal. That's still very impressive.

orphan_of_Ludwig

Do wonder how he would do in the new left 8 role, he has a good engine and his technical game has developed a lot.

ramobara

Call me crazy, but I think Iwobi would thrive as our left 8.

acasovoycayendo

You really don’t watch him enough if you think that, he’s nowhere near good enough

CallumK7

thats why you have to call him crazy

Qoita

Crazy. Iwobi is not good enough at all. If you think that Reiss Nelson isn't a good enough backup, then Iwobi would blow your mind. He's not even a starter at Fulham.

Aggravating_Ad_4507

That doesn't stop him from scoring against Man United of course

kebabdylan

Lad... It's united

GeniuslyMoronic

> He's not even a starter at Fulham. He has played at least 45 minutes for them in the last 13 games he was available for them. The only 3 games in the league where he played less than 45 minutes was directly following an injury. How is he not a starter?

BlessedBySaintLauren

They probably forgot he was at afcon

jungle1245

Might not be good enough, but he's a great player. Was consistently the shining light playing in multiple positions for a tragic Everton side that did manage to survive and is key to Fulham's forward line and midfield imo, who are a v competent and competitive PL side. Like all players at the top, he does some things better than most others and has areas where he underperforms. The key is that he works hard and has the ability to thread play in tight areas as well as get into good positions. His finishing and decision making is wayward, but like Adama Traore he can be a top player under the right coach and the right system.

Deckatoe

I think Willock would fit better. not sure if Iwobi would have all the tools for the role especially in the current squad but wtf do I know I'm just a dude on Reddit

el-fenomeno09

Willock the box crasher would fit closer to what arteta wants.

Cultural-Quote7104

Bring him home, Mikel

PoliticsNerd76

Not as a starter, but a nice sub

aesthachan

If we are getting a player from fulham I'd love palinha

IntraspeciesFever

Willockn in left 8, amn in inverted fullback position

Elfking88

I don't think Willock has the physicality for that role. It seems Arteta likes having someone with a little more power there when possible. First it was Xhaka and now Havertz.

eldar4k

He is a good egg

robstrosity

Willock is the only person associated with Newcastle who I have any respect for. Everyone else - the players, the fans, Eddie Howe, Tindall, the murderous owners should be rolled up into a big Sellen shaped ball and dropped into a volcano where they can be disintegrated and we can forget all about them. It would be a favour to the world. Fuck Newcastle

L0laccio

He should see out his contract and return on a free.

leebrother

After the whole st James park nonsense. He went down a lot in my books if what he said was the Arsenal players was true I.e the ball went out. He could’ve just said it after the game and it would have cut the noise at the press.

Redandwhite_91

Which would lead to him alienating himself vs his current team mates and also lead to the PGMOL taking it out at NCL. You need to take up PR 101. The world isn’t all sunshine and roses.

leebrother

Players have done it. Go watch Ronaldo turn down a penalty recently.

Redandwhite_91

LOL because he dove and knowing it would get overturned on review. Massively different to taking a stand knowing your call would actually make a difference to the outcome.

leebrother

Are you implying that players who dive do the same thing as what Ronaldo did?

Redandwhite_91

Firstly, I’m not a Ronaldo suck off like you clearly are so I’m not going to obsess over him. You cited an example and I suggested why it was an empty gesture. That man’s trying to build his PR with these stupid stunts and his fanboys will fellate over this rubbish (as you clearly are). Idc Expecting a player to do it in a high stakes game, where the cameras and tech equipment have failed, implying the “gesture” quite simply could be decisive, isn’t the same as a pointless PR stunt.

leebrother

What an idiotic opening statement, how am I a Ronaldo suck off? For one comment. Jesus Christ pathetic. Make a comment, can’t back it up and get insulting. I cited an example and you rubbished it which I merely questioned and you got all on the high horse. I’m anything but a Ronaldo fan. It’s just the example which can to mind but it’s okay! Don’t cry too much. Just go and learn about football. If he came out and said it did appear to go out. PR would not run him negative? He’d be praised by ex footballers alike.

Redandwhite_91

>Don’t cry too much. Just go and learn about football Maybe introspect this accusation 😂 >He’d be praised by ex footballers That’s not the point? His club (His employers) would hate him. The PGMOL will certainly take it out on the club for making them look incompetent. The club fan support would be divisive, as it is with any major PR stunt. There’s no winners. Appeasing to the fan base of your ex club is not in any footballers top priority list.

leebrother

So why did you make the nonsense about PR? As PR in basics one on one is the perception in the media and the how the message is given but it’s now about his club? Why would his club mind if he said he thinks it may have went out but can’t be certain? Why would that matter. A major PR stunt isn’t always negative as you allude. Just exaggerating the impact. PGMOL would take it out? How so? They didn’t deny it as they didn’t have the angle to do so. If anything PGMOL may ask for greater honesty in the game. It’s a baseless comment again. How do you even evidence such an accusation? There’s no winners. You really think his own fans would care? Like seriously. If we had Havertz come out and say yeah I think the ball may have went out and we ended up beating Chelsea as a result, I wouldn’t give a monkeys. Why would I?

Redandwhite_91

Cuz the world isn’t as black and white as you make it seem. Why didn’t Eboue come out and claim he dove in the UCL final to win us a FK? It was clear to everyone that the ref made a poor call. The last thing you’d do in that position is make yourself look great by claiming brownie points but put everyone else down. The decision was made already. Claiming it was a wrong one is 100% not going to go down well with the egotistical and power hungry PGMOL boys. On to the club. After Howe and all the media pundits supported NCL and the PGMOL on the decision claiming not enough evidence, how would it appear to all of them from an optics standpoint if Willock came out in the media and claim “Yeah the ball went out. It shouldn’t have been a goal. But it benefits us so I kept quiet”. It disreputes the entire institution.
