These fuckers won’t show 3pm games but will ship out games to a whole other continent. Moving from London to NY I miss seeing The Arsenal every week but I never ever want to see a NLD in America.
It’s insane my friends and family at home can’t understand how I can watch every sport possible here whenever. Yet they can’t watch a 3PM game even though they’re playing license fees, sky, TNT, and Amazon.
They need to look at American sports and how well they’ve monetised their games on TV.
Yes, the NBA is by far the worst abuser of this. You can pay for every streaming service possible and still not have access to every game your team plays in.
We in America aren’t much better. The market is shifting to a league like the NFL having games on CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, along with game exclusive on apps Peacock, Amazon, and possibly Netflix (they want to buy exclusive rights for Christmas Day games).
It’s definitely getting worse, but if you have any cable/Hulu/YouTube TV subscription you’re still getting 4 games on Sunday + MNF. And I’m pretty sure the Thursday night games are still shown on TV if it’s a local team, so it’s not terrible.. yet.
Not at work. The best part of being an American gooner is the worst part. Nobody cares, the algorithm doesn't reach out to me with spoilers in the form of score updates or worse, final scores! Random passers-by aren't talking about the game. I get to go home, watch it and skip halftime, it's magic, but nobody cares and it's already over, so no enjoying the chatter of our fans.
As a long time American Arsenal fan, I also do not advocate for games abroad, despite living in an area most likely to benefit from such games.
Not only does it detract from the local fans, but there is also a charm and a history lost when something becomes globalized. International tours are more than sufficient to service the international fan base.
Further, the romance of the pilgrimage to The Emirates is something that I think most foreign Arsenal fans relish. My first visit will be a memory that will stay with me until the day I die. Something that I hope some day to experience with children or grand children. ...and granted there is an argument to be made that it is out of reach for some fans due to economic circumstance. ...and that's unfortunate. However, I do not think that overcomes the value of clubs remaining locally rooted.
Yeah absolutely the fuck not to the NLD. That stays in London. I literally find JOY in the stress of planning traveling from the states for it. I won’t go to a PL game here. I go to every pre season tour. But nope. That’s not the PL that I love
Nah/yeah gross, but we can afford to bring Luton Town on our plane to NY for you. Especially if you have a futon for an enthusiastic gooner from South Carolina
This crap is ridiculous. It's bad enough that our teams have to be travelling all over the place because of the Champions League/being in Europe. Now they want games abroad? Our players will not have ample rest time.
Tim Payton is a cantankerous fuck, he’ll be perfect for that.
Hope the premier league put this idea back on the shelf and leaves it there. Terrible idea.
Let me get this straight.
In England:
- We have an issue with teams having scalpers collect home tickets to resell for a huge markup;
- We have an issue with teams having season ticket holders buy up and resale away tickets for a huge markup;
- We have the least amount of Premier League games televised, the Irish, Indians and Americans can watch more live Premier League games than we can; and
- As it stands, you need subscriptions to Amazon, Sky and BT Sport (£XXX a month) in order to NOT be able to watch all the prem games.
AND NOW they want to move games abroad?
Give us our fucking game back you cunts.
Good. Aside from all the other reasons why this is a terrible thing, the PL really doesn't need this commercial exposure in the way La Liga or others do.
It's not needed at all. There are already tours in pre season that seem to be in a good rotation of teams. And teams have been good at playing the players people want to see on those tours.
I am a died in the wool American Arsenal fan for over 40 years...
I will be very upset if we have matches played in the United States that matter...
Goes against everything I believe in...
I don't mind the cash grab games that they do in order to build the brand over here in the states, but we do not need these players to be dealing with additional cause for exhaustion during a season. Mind you, I do not attend the cash grab games.
Part of the experience of English football is the pint a pub the pie the people
This is why we need the independent regulator.
I have no doubt these games would be huge money spinners but the Premier League doesn't need it, it already is the richest league in the world and has the most exposure, it boils down to pure greed and takes a game away from season ticket holders too (because you know not a single club will reduce prices to reflect it).
It should not happen. Football games mean a lot to the communities that clubs are based in, not just in terms of the money it brings in. If you polled fans it'd be a landslide against this, the only reason for this is greed.
And there are those that truly believe the Premier £eague fought against the Super £eague purely for the integrity of the footba££ pyramid they vehemently object paying so little to lol
Moving the game away from the local fans who’s support and hard earned money has built the league into what it is over the last century would be a fucking travesty. The Premier league is English, played on English soil.
Arsenal born and raised, but seeing our club partake in this kind of nonsense would seriously make me question my support.
I mean, the Super League should also make it clear that it’s a free political win to ‘save football’ by intervening in questions about keeping the game as it is…
As an Arsenal fan in the U.S. they should keep premier league game in England. Would love to watch in person, but it wouldn’t even be the same atmosphere over here as it would over there. Just keep playing preseason games in the U.S.
It's bad enough that Arsenal now go to America every year for their pre-season tour, as do a handful of other teams. The Americans don't even call it football, how much more football could they possibly need.
Playing abroad seems like an incredibly problematic idea, unless all 20 teams play in the SoFi stadium, with all profits going to the Kroenkes. I could get on board with that.
I honestly do like the idea of the Community Shield being played abroad. A game with stakes played outside of the usual busy calendar played in front of audiences that wouldn't usually get to see actual competitive games between top level teams.
These fuckers won’t show 3pm games but will ship out games to a whole other continent. Moving from London to NY I miss seeing The Arsenal every week but I never ever want to see a NLD in America.
At least you get to see the 3pm away kickoffs
It’s insane my friends and family at home can’t understand how I can watch every sport possible here whenever. Yet they can’t watch a 3PM game even though they’re playing license fees, sky, TNT, and Amazon. They need to look at American sports and how well they’ve monetised their games on TV.
Just get a dodgy box and you can watch them all. Fuck the UK broadcast rules
💯 Fuck the broadcast rules, the homies hate the broadcast rules.
Bro if I could share logins from here (safely) I would. Fuck greedy ass NBC here. Asshats
I don't know a ton about all of USA sports so correct me if wrong, but isn't blackout games for your local team a fairly common problem?
Bigger issue I've personally experienced is "out of market". If you don't support a local team, it can be hard to see the games.
Yes, the NBA is by far the worst abuser of this. You can pay for every streaming service possible and still not have access to every game your team plays in.
There’s almost always a local channel that has all the games and is built into most tv packages
It used to be like that. Not anymore. I have the local station and pay for TNT, ESPN and ABC. I still don’t get access to every game.
If anything, they're forcing me to use illegal streams.... I have no other choice.
We in America aren’t much better. The market is shifting to a league like the NFL having games on CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, along with game exclusive on apps Peacock, Amazon, and possibly Netflix (they want to buy exclusive rights for Christmas Day games).

Fucking Netflix. Greedy bastards have to have their hands in everything.
You need 6 streaming services to watch MOST PL games. I don't pay for any anymore

In fairness, the PL is absolutely not in favour of the blackout rules. They’d love to have their games on tv in the UK.
Yeah as a lifelong fan in America for good, no thanks. I'll fly to London instead.
Yeah absolutely the fuck not to the NLD. That stays in London. I literally find JOY in the stress of planning traveling from the states for it. I won’t go to a PL game here. I go to every pre season tour. But nope. That’s not the PL that I love

Exactly. Despite what some may think, players are human beings not robots
What does abroad mean here? USA? Europe? Japan/china/Asia?
US. NBC working on having a PL round played in the US on US stadiums.
Det er ikke storgodt
I live in the US and agree. Our sports like NFL are trying the same thing as well. Money grabs...money grabs...
Tim Payton is a cantankerous fuck, he’ll be perfect for that. Hope the premier league put this idea back on the shelf and leaves it there. Terrible idea.

It's actually pretty sick. I can watch any premiere league game live or at a later time being in America. And I get to do it without Gary Neville
Good. Aside from all the other reasons why this is a terrible thing, the PL really doesn't need this commercial exposure in the way La Liga or others do.
American and I don’t want EPL games here. They need to stay at home
Literally as a fan I’m saving my money in hopes to take that trip to London and watch a game at the Emirates.
This is the way.
Well worth it
Unless you’re me and you paid 1k a ticket to see the Brighton home game last year lmao
It's not needed at all. There are already tours in pre season that seem to be in a good rotation of teams. And teams have been good at playing the players people want to see on those tours.
Same!
If this ever happens that'll probably be where I check out.
It’s already happening in spain
That decrepit omelette Perez can drag that league to the gutter for all I care. We're better than that
Do madrid even need the money? I’m not surprised by Barca after the hilarious things they’ve done to scrape up funds
When has that ever stopped billionaires?
of course they dont, but have you thought of their owners needs
Yup, I’m done at that point. Ridiculous.
As long as it is in Dubai lol kidding. If this happens for sure there will be a Saudi and Qatar fixtures.
If this ever happens this place will be a clusterfuck juxtaposition of people rightly outraged and others desperate to get tickets.

Starmer better put an end to this bullshit when he's in the job
Keep it to pre season. Simple.
I rather have Americans not watch football then accept this.
As an American I simply ask, why you say fuck me for?
Which dumbfuck thought of the idea of playing PL gMes abroad or 39th game!? Needs thier balls slid over a cheese grater
It should not happen. Football games mean a lot to the communities that clubs are based in, not just in terms of the money it brings in. If you polled fans it'd be a landslide against this, the only reason for this is greed.
the league belongs to people
Has Fulham’s ownership made any comments on this?
The fact they even need any “evidence” is already ridiculous
And there are those that truly believe the Premier £eague fought against the Super £eague purely for the integrity of the footba££ pyramid they vehemently object paying so little to lol

Nah if this ever happens I will just stop following PL all together. Got much shit to do in life than to wake up at 4am to watch matches
With Starmer, an Arsenal season ticket holder, about to be PM… no chance the British Gov allow it lol
Yes the integrity of politicians does not have a price. Never a shred of evidence in history over this.
I mean, the Super League should also make it clear that it’s a free political win to ‘save football’ by intervening in questions about keeping the game as it is…

Seriously? My £55 silver membership already gets me zero fucking tickets, and now they want to play overseas?
Playing abroad seems like an incredibly problematic idea, unless all 20 teams play in the SoFi stadium, with all profits going to the Kroenkes. I could get on board with that.
I honestly do like the idea of the Community Shield being played abroad. A game with stakes played outside of the usual busy calendar played in front of audiences that wouldn't usually get to see actual competitive games between top level teams.
Fuck off
A game called the ‘Community shield’ being played somewhere across the fucking Atlantic is just irony at its best innit.
Fuck off
