I'm digging the matte finish. Why did you not put on any decals, though? And when you say third brother, do you mean Phenex, Full Armour, or Perfectibility?

Health_Cat_2047

I didnt put any decals because I prefer the clean aesthetic on my unicorns... ...or at least that's what I'd like to say but I'm already penny pinching with food tryna save money, 3rd party decals are added cost that stacks up haha oh and I was quoting the narrative movie where they call phenex "the third brother". im probably not gonna get perfectibility since i have the MG version. FA expansion for my unicorn is a big question mark though, I'm not entirely certain if i like the aesthetic. as a student it takes a while to save money to buy these, and i gotta bunch of stuff i have planned for 2024 (get the MG S1 00 gang, complete my wing 1/144 collection, etc).

New-Tomato2349

Ah. I've not watched any Gundam media beyond the original anime and part of the Zeta anime. That's why I did not get the reference. Do the kits not come with decals? Or is it that you'd prefer third party decals over Bandai ones?

Health_Cat_2047

PGs dont come with waterslides, only stickers. Stickers tend to look pretty bad on darker colored kits as the borders are really obvious. I usually use delpi or EVO decals, theyre much better quality tham the bandai ones.

New-Tomato2349

Oh, that's lame. The most expensive kits there are, and they can't even put a sheet of decals with it? Perfect is even in the name! What about the third party decals do you prefer over the Bandai ones? A good while back I did some looking around for opinions, and back then it seemed that most people preferred Bandai decals over third party ones. I guess in the meantime third party ones have gotten better.

Health_Cat_2047

yeah, not even the PGU comes with waterslides, and it's meant to be a top of the line kit. Bandai's waterslides are honestly pretty trash, they're way too fragile and dont adhere to the surfaces properly, not to mention the fact that they take a long ass time to get "ready" (long soaking and sitting time before the decal is movable and ready to be applied). When it comes to EVO slides, 1-2s dip in the water, ready to apply, sticks on for dear life and looks like it was painted. Plus, 3rd party gives you so much liberty with the decal styles and options (holographic, UV flourescent, metallic, etc) and arent pointlessly locked behind premium labels and shit (MG SEED waterslides only available in effect expansions, etc.)

New-Tomato2349

The only brand of decals I've used were Dalin. I think those are Chinese, but I'm not sure. Do you have any experience with those? Do you happen to know web stores in Europe that sell Delpi and/or EVO water slides?

Health_Cat_2047

for the first question, dalin slides are fine. They're pretty average for a 3rd party decal, and i find that the borders arent super transparent, but the difference is barely noticable after topcoating. as for the second, I don't live in europe, so i cant help you with that. I usually order mine on shopee or aliexpress.

New-Tomato2349

I guess Shoppee or AliExpress would do. I'd just have to pay import taxes when it gets here, probably. In any case, thanks for the help.

Health_Cat_2047

np my g, never stop building 🔥🔥

noelarauz

Thoughts on the new Banshee PG on premium Bandai?

Health_Cat_2047

i dont live in the US, if you didnt know pbandai drops are different in every country. If youre talking about the final battle version, I'm pretty sure that's a reprint as it's been out for a while at this point. I personally really dislike the green psychoframe color on the banshee, I think it doesnt look good.

AggravatingRush5799

I'd like to know the downsides of the PG unicorn, are there any loose parts? Is it ok to move and pose it around? Is it fragile? I hope your respond

Health_Cat_2047

eh so far from both builds i think the arms need slight tightening to hold up the beam magnum at an angle beyond 90°. The transformation itself is extremely tight and quite frustrating especially the torso. Articulation wise this thing is pretty much a brick particularly with the LED kit installed, that's why all PG unicorns are all in the same standing pose. If you're looking for posability get the MGEX, the MGEX has great articulation but the LED strip is fragile and breaks easily.

AggravatingRush5799

So the only loose joints are the arms? Nothing else? And when doing atleast a shake test is there any of the joints that would just be loose?

AggravatingRush5799

And which brand of led did you use? Bandai?

Health_Cat_2047

yeah. kosmos and daban should be about the same.

AggravatingRush5799

As for the shake test, is it ok? Like do the joints just fall off? Not as in loose parts but joints

Health_Cat_2047

nope, not at all. everything is snug fitting.

AggravatingRush5799

Aight thank you very much I might get one soon

Health_Cat_2047

np dude but remember to topcoat armor pieces before assembly, dont get topcoat on the psychoframe esp. if you're getting LEDs as topcoat will diminish the brightness.

AggravatingRush5799

Why topcoat though? Is it a must?

Health_Cat_2047

well especially for the unicorn, it's pure white and the PG is massive - meaning without a topcoat with UV protection, sunlight will cause the plastic to start yellowing very quickly. I leave my PGs high up near a window, so I make it a point to topcoat them thoroughly. additionally if you are doing waterslide decals the topcoat helps to seal them in.

ovictoroxo

Matte top coat the world! They look amazing.

Health_Cat_2047

thanks g 👑

legendofzeldaforlife

Is this just the plastic with a matte coat? Looks really smooth. What brand/application did you use?

Health_Cat_2047

I used mr super clear UV cut. It looks smooth because it's like 3-4 coats haha took 3 full cans of it
