In this case I didn't use a top coat, just lacquer primer and paint, to avoid making the paint too thick.
But if I were to use a top coat, I'd probably apply on each piece individually, just like the paint.
I'm gonna list all the paints that I used here, some of them pure and some of them mixed with each other:
Mr.Color SM203, SM206 and GX210
Jumpwind Prime Metal 4, 5 and 7
7 is Meteoric Iron, the darkest one
Sorry, kind of a noob question. When you paint your inner frames like this, would you top coat each part before assembling them back together?

Do you ever run into issues where the paint eventually rubs off from any mating parts? How would you avoid that?
As I said, I try to make the paint as thin as possible, but sometimes it's inevitable and I just accept it.
