RG Hi-nu was my immediate answer as well. It is THE golden standard for RG kits. I just worry that it has set the bar a bit too high for anything that comes after.

Guess it'd have to be the RG Nu considering it's one of the kit's I've bought three of.
I never had any major issues with all of my copies, and I have not even made major modifications to the built ones. Future copies I intend to modify by locking down internal components necessary for the transformation so that Destroy mode is more solid.
I still stand by Dalong’s glowing words for the kit when it released in 2007. It truly is an amazing feat of engineering, and only some aspects are dated by today’s standards. The Unicorn kits have to be approached from a different mindset than a standard, non transforming mobile suit like say GM or Ball. The MG was more or less utilizing PG level tech of the era to pull off what it did. It is quite impressive.

Water decals, matte finish. Only did a few poses and called it a day, didn't want to push my luck in case I hadn't loosened the arm joints enough.

Man of taste I just built mine about a week ago. I normally don't like bulky gundams but I love this kit. I wish I could get an RG or a mg
RG. The build was ok, not great. It had some frustrating parts like backpack and lower leg parts, but got easier after each first time. The kit itself is pretty damn solid though!

RG Hi Nu is by far my favorite right now. Spent way more time on it than any kit before. Tried some large scale painting for the first time in over twenty years and learned a lot about it (and panel lining) in the process. Had a lot of fun using the dry transfers too. I don’t think I ever used them on my older kits save for the basic foil stickers.

Try not to use panel line accent color (tamiya) or minimize the amount, the plastic seemed especially prone to getting brittle and crumbling, plastic is composed of ABS. As alternative, you can use the gundam marker panel liners without issue
Some minor joint sanding and few parts for better fit.
The back pack is about 70% of build, super detailed part separation.
I did some spot painting on accent parts (i.e backpack's fins and dragon heads) for more detail
Oh and it comes with base stand, to attach the model you need to take out a plastic slot piece from his ass and the inner metal frame's cavity will be exposed and you can shove it up its ass.
This is not explained in the manual.
Hard to decide, but I can say that I've put maximum effort into this Unicorn, tho I am truly fascinated with my RG Sazabi

The HG Darilbalde has some sexy curves that look straight off of a supercar.
Granted, detailing this guy took me close to burn out but, now that I can finally put most of it together, it’s honestly quite worth it IMHO. This thing plays so nice with light.
Also, I’ll be using the lessons learned in this build for a Schwarzette Quad arm I’ll be attempting as a “rival/upgrade”. But maybe in a month or three 😅 going to give my brain some much-needed recovery time.
Honestly that kit looks amazing. I WISH it had more gold in the show. The thing gives sasabi vibes and I hope Bandai give it a rg or mg to in your direction.
I've got a few favorites, really.
RG Tallgeese, RG Wing Gundam, HGUC Hyaku Shiki, HGAC Shenlong, HG Beyond Global Grandpa, HGUC Gouf Custom, HGUC The Origin Char Zaku II... those are the ones at the top of my list at the moment.
MG Build Strike. Just such a solid and fun kit i can't help but love it.

I'm in the middle of building the Solomon Physalis, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites despite a few faults. Although right now, even though I built it almost 15 years ago now, the MG Mk-II 2.0 it still tippy top for me. So good I even bought the Full Armor Daban kit and plan to build it soon-ish, and am considering getting the Titans version as well.
That Solomon kit is in my mind the best 3rd party kit of an official Gundam. Great engineering and surprisingly good plastic. Sure fit and quality still go to Bandai, but others are catching up. I remember when the MKII 2.0 came out and obsessed over the pre release images. I think they only had the pictures of the 3d printed masters at first. I actually tried to make a Hyaku Shiki out of the frame, but Bandai ended up doing it for me so I stopped.

My HGCE infinite justice. Not even my favorite Gundam, but it was fun and easy to build, even if it looked intimidating at first. I love all the added beam effects and gimmicks with the shield. And it’s surprisingly sturdy for a unit with such a large backpack accessory, unlike the Strike Freedom next to it.
RG Nu is just awesome and gorgeous. I still just stare at it on my shelf silently. Also have a soft spot for RG Uni but tbf Unicorn is my favourite ms design in general
I think the RG Build Strike Freedom is pretty high up on my list.

The Shin Burning Gundam. I have no other option as it's the only one I've made so far. Still, I love how pose-able this is, and I learnt to do some basic painting.
I been deciding what I wanted to try next (new 2 gunpla only done fm aerial, mg freedom 2.0 and HG calibarn) and this settles it for me. You did a great job and it looks awesome :O!!

MGEX Strike Freedom, everything went together so easily but second has to be RG Sazabi, one of few RG’s that I have stuck all the decals on.
I was gonna paint it but I realised it was good as it is. Sazabi ver ka is my favourite atm. Waiting for my 2 ex s gundam mg 1.5 to arrive so I can I have both modes in display

Pretty hard deciding between this and my PG Unicorn but then I remembered how repetitive it was making 6 beam gatling guns so RG Sword Impulse it is!

HG Moon Gundam is still my favorite kit I’ve built, the build process was really enjoyable and I love the kit aesthetically. I just finished up the Sazabi ver Ka and that kit was awesome as well!

The RG Sazabi was challenging for me, but I’m so pleased with the final result! It’s immense for a 1/144 and rich with detail. It looks amazing in my display cabinet.

My 2 Favorite HG Inf Justice and RG Spec II Impulse (btw ignore the tape on the stand it was needed to support the weight
For appearances, the RG Zeta just looks fucking cool, but I made the mistake of it being my third Gunpla ever and there are only minimal regrets. It wasn't too difficult but I also have yet to apply the decals.
Of the other two kits I've built, I'd have to say the HG Pharact is my favourite for build, pose, and just overall design, but I'm also a big Armored Core fan and have been since AC2 on PS2.

one of my fav and most recently. The RG Hi Nu is really great and change my view on RG line.
Hard to choose, there are so many great kits... but if I had to pick one, the Super Model Force Stargazer.
First kit I went super extra and applied most of the decals, and it was a joy to build. And looks stupendously good. It did the stargazer gundam a great service with it's own unique visuals and how awesome the ring, and the special pearlescent swords look. Such a beauty. Only minor con is that unlike most 3p kits, it only comes with a really tiny "stand" that is just there to hold up the ring basically.
I love my rg sazabi, nu and hi nu - i consider them ‘complete kits’ - solid as a rock, packed with detail, insanely poseable, all the hands and accessories you could ever want. Just all round great kits. There are other kits I enjoy, like the rg corns, which I have SIX of, or the rg Eva’s, but they’re just a little bit flimsy and delicate, and more difficult to pose

Probably the Tallgeese Fluegel. It's my first and only P-Bandai kit so far and the build was so fun. It's a shame that it's rather fragile.
My second favorite is probably the Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.ka.
I haven’t built a TON of kits, but MG Barbatos and RG Hi Nu top my list so far. Arguably HG Aerial because I loved it so much that it got me into the hobby.
MG Dynames but RG Hi-v and Sazabi are close seconds.

Having recently bought the mg strike rouge ootori and assembled it this past weekend, definitely that kit 😁 It's my first time trying out an mg kit so I was scared I might break smt like I did with a couple of my rg kits
I could not tell you. Reason being, I have too many to pick a favourite. My most recent gundam build was the wing zero ver.ka, most recent build was the transport platform for Eva units, and most recent full set was the MS general greed. Because my most recent build was the platform, Eva unit 01 is on my desk, but that will most likely change once my next kit comes in (I have a few preorders, so idk which one's coming next)

MGEX Strike Freedom. Just a beautiful kit all around and a fun build that gave me little trouble (spread it out over two weeks because I didn't want it to end).

Not my favorite mobile suit in my collection, but as a kit, I don't think any of them look as gorgeus as the HG Ground Type Gundam.
Visually, my (knockoff) Sazabi, it had some shiny coating on. Even with the horrible nubmarks it's still wonderful.
Second is the Psycho Zaku, but it's less durable than a Lego set falling from space.
For me, it's the RG Destiny.
At first I didn't like it too much. After I panel lined it and started posing the wings, I adore it. I am currently waiting on another one, tho as I learned the hard way the silver marker I used ate through the arm
Before that it was the RG RX-78-2 and I have the PGU RX-78-2 in the back log to do next

Definitely the MG Justice. It was easy and such a joy to build. The glider looks so cool whether as a backpack or riding it Green Goblin style!

I still love the MG Zaku II 2.0. The tubes aren’t as bad as the RG Zaku, as the coils and metal springs are big enough to manage, and I didn’t feel like I had to glue the ones on the MG, while those on the RG are so tiny and loose they needed to be glued down. The only thing that kills it for me is that the rifle and bazooka fall out of the hands easily, because there’s not really a dedicated hand for either weapon. The axe is the only one that reliably stays in the hands. Even though I have the RG Hi-Nu, and that kit has 0 frustrations for me, the fact that the Zaku II 2.0 is much bigger makes it better than the RG H-Nu, just in my opinion. I really wish all the zeon suits got this same treatment, and that modern MG’s still has the surface detail this era of MG had (MG GM, MG Zaku II 2.0, MG RX-78-2 2.0).

As far as snap builds go the MG Freedom 2.0 is such a great kit. An absolute blast, and it looks great before even doing any work to it.

Zowort Heavy. I like the more angular, chunky design, the shoulder weapons, the more tank style khaki colour scheme. It just stands out to me.

Same. The MG Unicorn mold just holds a special place in my heart for so many reasons.
Probably about the only thing it CAN hold, to be fair
I never had any major issues with all of my copies, and I have not even made major modifications to the built ones. Future copies I intend to modify by locking down internal components necessary for the transformation so that Destroy mode is more solid. I still stand by Dalong’s glowing words for the kit when it released in 2007. It truly is an amazing feat of engineering, and only some aspects are dated by today’s standards. The Unicorn kits have to be approached from a different mindset than a standard, non transforming mobile suit like say GM or Ball. The MG was more or less utilizing PG level tech of the era to pull off what it did. It is quite impressive.

Spent way more time on it than any kit before. Tried some large scale painting for the first time in over twenty years and learned a lot about it (and panel lining) in the process. Had a lot of fun using the dry transfers too. I don’t think I ever used them on my older kits save for the basic foil stickers.

Try not to use panel line accent color (tamiya) or minimize the amount, the plastic seemed especially prone to getting brittle and crumbling, plastic is composed of ABS. As alternative, you can use the gundam marker panel liners without issue Some minor joint sanding and few parts for better fit. The back pack is about 70% of build, super detailed part separation. I did some spot painting on accent parts (i.e backpack's fins and dragon heads) for more detail Oh and it comes with base stand, to attach the model you need to take out a plastic slot piece from his ass and the inner metal frame's cavity will be exposed and you can shove it up its ass. This is not explained in the manual.

Granted, detailing this guy took me close to burn out but, now that I can finally put most of it together, it’s honestly quite worth it IMHO. This thing plays so nice with light. Also, I’ll be using the lessons learned in this build for a Schwarzette Quad arm I’ll be attempting as a “rival/upgrade”. But maybe in a month or three 😅 going to give my brain some much-needed recovery time.
Honestly that kit looks amazing. I WISH it had more gold in the show. The thing gives sasabi vibes and I hope Bandai give it a rg or mg to in your direction.

I'm in the middle of building the Solomon Physalis, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites despite a few faults. Although right now, even though I built it almost 15 years ago now, the MG Mk-II 2.0 it still tippy top for me. So good I even bought the Full Armor Daban kit and plan to build it soon-ish, and am considering getting the Titans version as well.
That Solomon kit is in my mind the best 3rd party kit of an official Gundam. Great engineering and surprisingly good plastic. Sure fit and quality still go to Bandai, but others are catching up. I remember when the MKII 2.0 came out and obsessed over the pre release images. I think they only had the pictures of the 3d printed masters at first. I actually tried to make a Hyaku Shiki out of the frame, but Bandai ended up doing it for me so I stopped.

Not even my favorite Gundam, but it was fun and easy to build, even if it looked intimidating at first. I love all the added beam effects and gimmicks with the shield. And it’s surprisingly sturdy for a unit with such a large backpack accessory, unlike the Strike Freedom next to it.

Hm. Mine is probably HG Age 1 Normal. Or anything Age. The anime is meh but the HG kits are fucking amazing.
Hard to choose, there are so many great kits... but if I had to pick one, the Super Model Force Stargazer. First kit I went super extra and applied most of the decals, and it was a joy to build. And looks stupendously good. It did the stargazer gundam a great service with it's own unique visuals and how awesome the ring, and the special pearlescent swords look. Such a beauty. Only minor con is that unlike most 3p kits, it only comes with a really tiny "stand" that is just there to hold up the ring basically.

I love my rg sazabi, nu and hi nu - i consider them ‘complete kits’ - solid as a rock, packed with detail, insanely poseable, all the hands and accessories you could ever want. Just all round great kits. There are other kits I enjoy, like the rg corns, which I have SIX of, or the rg Eva’s, but they’re just a little bit flimsy and delicate, and more difficult to pose

It's my first and only P-Bandai kit so far and the build was so fun. It's a shame that it's rather fragile. My second favorite is probably the Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.ka.
I haven’t built a TON of kits, but MG Barbatos and RG Hi Nu top my list so far. Arguably HG Aerial because I loved it so much that it got me into the hobby.

Having recently bought the mg strike rouge ootori and assembled it this past weekend, definitely that kit 😁 It's my first time trying out an mg kit so I was scared I might break smt like I did with a couple of my rg kits
I could not tell you. Reason being, I have too many to pick a favourite. My most recent gundam build was the wing zero ver.ka, most recent build was the transport platform for Eva units, and most recent full set was the MS general greed. Because my most recent build was the platform, Eva unit 01 is on my desk, but that will most likely change once my next kit comes in (I have a few preorders, so idk which one's coming next)

Visually, my (knockoff) Sazabi, it had some shiny coating on. Even with the horrible nubmarks it's still wonderful. Second is the Psycho Zaku, but it's less durable than a Lego set falling from space.
For me, it's the RG Destiny. At first I didn't like it too much. After I panel lined it and started posing the wings, I adore it. I am currently waiting on another one, tho as I learned the hard way the silver marker I used ate through the arm Before that it was the RG RX-78-2 and I have the PGU RX-78-2 in the back log to do next

MG Hyaku Shiki Crash
I still love the MG Zaku II 2.0. The tubes aren’t as bad as the RG Zaku, as the coils and metal springs are big enough to manage, and I didn’t feel like I had to glue the ones on the MG, while those on the RG are so tiny and loose they needed to be glued down. The only thing that kills it for me is that the rifle and bazooka fall out of the hands easily, because there’s not really a dedicated hand for either weapon. The axe is the only one that reliably stays in the hands. Even though I have the RG Hi-Nu, and that kit has 0 frustrations for me, the fact that the Zaku II 2.0 is much bigger makes it better than the RG H-Nu, just in my opinion. As far as snap builds go the MG Freedom 2.0 is such a great kit. An absolute blast, and it looks great before even doing any work to it.
