Even beating it all to hell can look realistic, provided you're not trying to represent a *functional* suit.
Or if you're like that guy yesterday, trying to make some sort of mobile suit "zombie".
I really dug that idea. I hope he posts updates.
I know gunpla is freedom and all that, but OP did ask if it was too much and the common consensus is that if it if looks like it took a mud bath, it might be overdone
Yeah I'm gonna revisit the other torso vent. I did that one first when I was only going to do minimal weathering but you're right that it looks too bright next to the beaten up vent.
Looks good.
Definitely not too much...if anything, could use a little bit *more* on the yellow parts like the V-Fin, collar or left chest vent, because they're so bright.
And maybe cut a little bit off the V-Fin on one side to look like it's been partly shot off.
I used an Ammo by Mig Oilbrusher. You but a dot of the oil paint on then use a wide brush that's damp with some artists white spirits to drag the paint down to create streaks. It's really easy and fun to play around with.
I think it looks great.
I know there’s a fear of “overdoing it,” and I get it, but something I’ve learned with weathering is that it all depends on the story you want to tell.
I think it looks good! I was JUST having the same question myself on my RX79G Ground Type- too much dry brush weathering. But that’s what Gunpla is for- there IS no right or wrong. If you want a heavily used/damaged suit, then by all means. I’m pretty sure that after a bout with Darth Char, a suit is going to be barely held together with baling wire and duct tape…

I got the same achievement of weathering of yours on my pg banshee shield! I just use natural disasters of wind blow my shield drop on the floor and vwallah ,natural scratch which turn into weathering 🥲....
Imo not beast enough. Use a hand screw to put in random bullet holes
I also used a dremmer to imitate rocker craters

Take down the brightness on the yellow parts just a little bit. That being said, the rest of it looks amazing. The chipping and rust are very well done.
It looks really good to me. Not over done
Is it even possible to overdo weathering?
Yes. Lol Honestly, it really depends on if you're looking for a "realistic" look or not.

For sure. It's in the eye of the creator.
Yup, gotta find a balance without making it look like your mech took a mud bath
But what if it was in a battle on mud planet?? It would look like it took a bath in a mud pit. Have fun and experiment.
I know gunpla is freedom and all that, but OP did ask if it was too much and the common consensus is that if it if looks like it took a mud bath, it might be overdone
Looks great! Definitely not over the top; could maybe use a touch more damage on the waist even.
Not over done. Beat up that right vent a little more cause it’s too bright still 😂 and more rust on the waist?
Yeah I'm gonna revisit the other torso vent. I did that one first when I was only going to do minimal weathering but you're right that it looks too bright next to the beaten up vent.
Beautiful
Looks good, personally I'd say go for a tiny bit more scatching
I agree, like some streaks of scratches
Bro I had to check what dibreddit I was on, I was imidiately going "bro did you slam it on the concrete?" Very well done

Great suggestions, thanks.
Perfect
I dig it
This looks great!
Nah it's gorgeous.

How did you achieve the rust trail on the skirt?
I used an Ammo by Mig Oilbrusher. You but a dot of the oil paint on then use a wide brush that's damp with some artists white spirits to drag the paint down to create streaks. It's really easy and fun to play around with.
Keep doing what you're doing
Great battle damage. I forgot this was a plastic model kit for a second
That is a tasteful amount. It says to me, heavy wear, but still operational. Keep cooking, chef.
Just right. It looks like it's 6 months into a 8 month deployment.
Oh god that is gorgeous
That looks great!
Looks like a good balance to me. I like the missing vent detail too
I mean it looks like it's ready to use it's verniers to stop a meteor hurdling toward earth
No, this looks great OP. Weathering and paint damage is just right here, and scale feels on point too.
Its perfect. Not too much, not too little
This is the type of weathering that would fit right into the poster art for 08th MS. Looks solid😎
Aw hell no brother. This looks like a real mobile suit to me!! Well done!
I think it looks great. I know there’s a fear of “overdoing it,” and I get it, but something I’ve learned with weathering is that it all depends on the story you want to tell.
That's a great way of approaching it, thanks.
As long as the limbs match the degree of weathering, you’re good.
This picture was so convincing that it was abandoned in the middle of nowhere. Jeez my dude u got the JUICE!
I just busted the **\*\*BIGGEST\*\*** nut after seeing this, like holy fuck.
Ha, happy to satisfy 🤣
Looks great. Also a good sense of scale on the weathering.

Nope, just right.
When weathering you'll always fall somewhere between pristine and destroyed. Good thing is any point on that spectrum can look good
Nah it's great. I'll be building my first PG soon (PGU), I don't think I'll have the balls to weather it '^^
> asks if it’s too much > better weathering than anything I’ve put out
No? You've still gotta do the arms and legs wym. Silly goose.
🤣
Can I send you my kit so you can do it like that? Also Zeta and GP01 lol. This is seriously rad.
If you send them along with a million pounds then sure. 🤣 Thanks though, glad you like it.
Its dope
I got the same achievement of weathering of yours on my pg banshee shield! I just use natural disasters of wind blow my shield drop on the floor and vwallah ,natural scratch which turn into weathering 🥲....
theres never too much in the world of gunpla
Incredibly well done and a perfect amount, you could even go for more if you were feeling it, this looks awesome 🙌
I think the black and other colours look great but something is lacking on the lower white parts, it looks too clean compared to the chest
Imo not beast enough. Use a hand screw to put in random bullet holes I also used a dremmer to imitate rocker craters https://preview.redd.it/g7mm4kh0f66d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f33bd8445f7baf3f54db90f87926a9d3e29324b9
