My wife and I just respect each other's things and spaces. I don't touch the things on their desk, they don't touch the things on my desk. Someone going through my things to find something, misuse it, and break it is wild to me. I wouldn't want to live with someone like that, would drive me nuts.
I'm not an expert, but I too had to remove various drywall anchors from a place I had just moved into. Not having many tools, I grabbed my entry nippers and they worked really well for the task. It came down to a lot of sniping and ripping of weird bits of plastic. Not fast, but they got the job done.
I've gotten two from amazon. The first was amazing.... until a late night building session had my attention waning and I dropped it. The thin piece got ever so slightly bent and cuts were never flush again. So I got another pair, this one arrived in a plastic pouch with bubble wrap and doesn't cut nearly as flush as the first pair but better than the first pair after being dropped. Your results may vary but I would say it's probably better to buy them from a hobby store in addition to something else that would warrant packing the items in a box.
Depends on where you live.
Local hobby stores tend to go $55-60, Amazon doesn’t sell them but people using Amazon reselling them usually goes $50-70, and directly from Japan is usually $25-30
You might be thinking Direct from Japan is cheap, add the shipping fees and you’ll most likely spend $40-50, it still is cheaper than most hobby stores and Amazon reselling even kits like HG and MG but keep it a reminder if feels cheaper by bulk stacking multiple items in your Japan order for hobby supplies and kits combined.
Not to mention you’ll be supporting your local hobby store for being the middle man buying supplies directly from Japan for you and if they do sales, it can be cheaper. Japan store don’t “always” have it in stock.
Because people either don’t talk much about their hobbies with their significant others, or their significant others don’t care to respect their things.
My wife always asks if she can use any of my tools. She also knows to not touch any of the stuff in the designated model area or the containers marked for model stuff. Like she would never grab one of my Vallejo paints without asking because they are not kept with our other paints, and no blanket permission has been granted.
It’s not even about how expensive anything relating to the hobby is. It’s just that we have our own stuff and unless we’ve discussed it being “our” stuff we ask. Plus, since I talk to her about the hobby, she does understand that the tools I have can be delicate and/or expensive. So I’m covered in multiple fronts.
That's what I never understand from these sorts of stories. What's wrong with all of these people who never think to ask before taking someone else's things?
I build at the kitchen table so I can be around my family. The GH and the cheapies were both there along with my other basic tools. I think I forgot to put them back in the pouch when I was done, she would've known otherwise.
At least she broke them hard, your nipper went down with honor, rather than croaking because you tried to cut a moderately thick gate on a gloss injection runner
Cliff from Cheers voice "Well there was this one pair of nippers, a contractor ya know home builders, well he cut 30 drywall anchors with that pair of nippers before breaking. That nipper, He was one of the good ones"
I personally keep all my tools in a hobby container for like arts and crafts it's multilayered and can store and organize any parts that I was working on if I didn't finish. No chance for anyone to make a mistake and I always know where everything is when I need it.
My dad used mine to cut copper wire and didn't understand why i was mad lmao. He bought me a new pair when he looked closely at them. He actually used two different pairs of mine (mr hobby and nicer tamiya) because the first ones didn't work as well as he expected
I'm not a pro at household stuff but I was a mechanic for a bit. If I had to remove drywall anchors but the heads were crushed and needlenose pliers just couldn't grab? I'd take a pair of sidecutters, get under the flange and lightly squeeze while lifting.
At least they weren't trying get in there with a flathead trying to pry it out from the drywall. Side cutters are great for grabbing all sorts of stuff that pliers don't, provided you know the right amount of pressure to use so you're not actually cutting anything. The only mistake OP's wife made was she grabbed the wrong version of a tool that would work.
Sorry for your loss. Luckily for me, my wife bought me my gunpla tools so she knows better. That being said for a number of hand tools, I have bought my wife her own because she has lost or misused mine too many times over the years.
Ive seen alot of these posts where peoples spouses take their hobby tools and what not for house hold things. Do their spouses not ask before using their stuff? Is that not a normal thing? My wife always asks or she’ll message me if she can use tools not in the toolbox etc. Id also never use her stuff without asking because her stuff is just as expensive as my own and ik she would be make if i broke her stuff and vice versa.
Yeah I wouldn't touch my wife's stuff without asking first. It's her stuff not mine. She also knows not to touch my tools mostly because she might hurt herself but also because she knows it's my tools and aren't cheap. If she needs one she will always ask what will be the best tool for the job and I tell her or I just do it myself depending on what it is.
It’s karma farming ragebait.
OP literally has a picture of a pair of nippers which have been broken mid build (you can see the build)

Oof that was an unlucky flip of the coin with the cheap/expensive guessing game. I go by the rule of thumb that if modeling supplies have any Japanese on them they are expensive unless proven otherwise, but I guess a non-modeler wouldn't really know one way or the other.
this is why I only use HobbyMio and Tamiya Kraft tools now.... even the missus accidentally used it it's would not give me agony and pain... (edit) on the brighter side you can use this opportunity/excuse to buy a new kit with a brand new GH nipper hahahaha
how are the mid range cutters from china? hobbymio jas that suneye looking logo with red handles?
the godeye are so fragile i broke 1 side of the tip can still be used but since godhand is so eexpensive and hard to find am looking for alternatives.

bought 3 kinds this is the most expensive $30 it's stainless.
they are pretty sturdy. btw i use 2 cut techic when the sprue is a little thick i use a normal cutter to indent a cut point the cut it with straight edge.
Well it doesn't sound like she did it maliciously or out of spite. We can't know before we learn, and learning together doesn't have to be a confrontation when it could be a shared and positive experience.
Your wife might be really receptive to you showing her why these clippers are special for your uses. I think sharing hobbies is a big adult relationship bonding activity. Not meaning to sound preachy or annoying, I'm just exploring similar but different replays of past relationships in therapy right now.
While all this is true first and foremost you need to respect others belongings. Even if it's your spouse's stuff, I would say especially if it's your spouse's stuff. This shows a complete disregard for his belongings on her part. It seems she didn't ask permission to use them because I would assume he would have told her those aren't the ones she would need and would have given her the correct tool. First they need to have a talk about respecting each other's property and asking for permission when borrowing something.
This isn't the first time I seen someone post on here about a spouse breaking a pair of god hands because of inappropriate use. The one that stood out to me the most was the one where the guy's wife broke them because she was trying to bend a hook on her bra.
It's bittersweet too. She made the save of the century by actively building him a Gunpla shelf and he inadvertently screwed himself as she now knows how expensive those snippers are. Perhaps they cancel each other out? Sounds like it did.
Man,I dropped a cheap($40 after tax?) and one whole side looks like I curled it. Another time I didn't see the staple in-between the blades(same nippers, new set)...perfectly half-round indentions on each blade....😭....these two incidents happened about a month apart...I am on my THIRD set in the last year...
Might be a bit overkill, but I keep all my gunpla tools and some of the supplies that fit in to a tackle box. Since there's three smaller organizers I was able to separate them between building, finishing, and accessories. I pull one for each step of a build and put everything back after each session. The family knows not to go in this box for anything household related.
I also have a toolbox for cheaper household tools and toolboxes for my mechanics tools, the family also knows if they have a task they can't complete with the tools in the household box, to let me know.
It might be a change in habits and take a little extra time each session but I promise once everyone gets in to the habit, this kind of thing won't happen but once in a blue moon.

That sucks. I'm gonna be honest though. If your wife thinks nippers are a good tool for that. Did she pop it out a little and try to use the nippers as pliers? She probably should not be doing house projects unsupervised. No disrespect or anything. I don't think she knows what she's doing.
she better buy you new ones or its time to reconsider the marriage
if she does this to your things imagine the amount of respect she has for everything you own
Why are you so upset about it. People are always stressing the little things on reddit, I swear. Just throw them away. It's not the only ones in the world. There's plenty of women walking around.
Why don't people store their Gunpla tools separate from their garage/handyman tools? I don't keep mine on the same floor, let alone the same room or toolbox.
I broke some god hands cutting sprues on a gundam kit. I had only had it for about a week. When I asked for a refund or replacement they suggested I was using them improperly. I guess their sharpness makes them particularly brittle.
I think I ended up just keeping my broken god hands, never built gundam again.
well the instruction says you suppose to cut the sprues usong a normal cutter then trim the nub using godhand.
but the clear parts are extra hard esp those gundam action base.
i use wire cutters for all sorts of stuff. they are durable as fuck. i can understand for common people they might not notice godhand doesnt look so durable and strong.
you sound real smart. i dont see a problem using a real wire cutter to remove a nail. sure i could use a plier but a wire cutter does it well.
im not the one using godhand to do so. but most people never heard about godhand and just think it is a normal cutter.
You sound really smart. I don't see a problem using my hand to hammer a nail in. Sure, it makes my hands bloody , but it does well.
Not everyone has heard of a hammer and thinks using your hand is okay.
* AK PLIER CUTTING TOOL
* 10$
* LITERALLY JUST AS GOOD

Why do they always go for the god hands? Take the cheap nippers instead.
She knew enough to know I have cheap ones and nice ones, just got confused and thought they were the cheap ones. She knows better now.
Using nippers, period, to remove drywall anchors? Surely there's a more efficient tool for that job.
She tried other tools first. I wasn't around to make suggestions, obviously.
And this is why my gunpla tools are in a locked travel makeup box in my house. Like 22 bucks off Amazon.
My wife and I just respect each other's things and spaces. I don't touch the things on their desk, they don't touch the things on my desk. Someone going through my things to find something, misuse it, and break it is wild to me. I wouldn't want to live with someone like that, would drive me nuts.

where is the best place to buy these? would amazon be a good spot? sorry for the silly question i’m just getting back into these!
I've gotten two from amazon. The first was amazing.... until a late night building session had my attention waning and I dropped it. not aware of any local hobby stores around me so i’ll have to do some google searching but thank you for your help!!
I got mine frome Hobby Town. If you have one near try them.
did you forget to leave the cap on that says "god hand"
It's fine, just have her replace it with another Godhand and watch her go historical on an expensive tool for hobbies.
"she knows better now" I wonder what could that mean lol
They're the cheap ones now lol
Nothin like the ol' backhand of learning! /s
Because people either don’t talk much about their hobbies with their significant others, or their significant others don’t care to respect their things. "You know, those blue handled ones..."
Do you keep cheap nippers and leave them more accessible than the god hands?
I build at the kitchen table so I can be around my family. The GH and the cheapies were both there along with my other basic tools. I think I forgot to put them back in the pouch when I was done, she would've known otherwise.
Fair. Shit happens, sounds like an innocent mistake anyway.
At least she broke them hard, your nipper went down with honor, rather than croaking because you tried to cut a moderately thick gate on a gloss injection runner
Better to die by the drywall screw then rust in shame.
Cliff from Cheers voice "Well there was this one pair of nippers, a contractor ya know home builders, well he cut 30 drywall anchors with that pair of nippers before breaking. That nipper, He was one of the good ones"
I might be the only one old enough here to understand that lol
I was thinking there would be more of us.. So are is dino's pre-mech?
It's best to store your nippers out of view regardless of if they're Godhands or not so your family members don't try stuff like this.
Yeah, I was halfway through a build and left em in their lil pouch thinking that was good enough. Lesson learned.
I’d be having her buy the next pair 😅
In a sense, she did. Money is tight so we discuss all purchases over $20. A new set of godhands was immediately approved.
good ending
I personally keep all my tools in a hobby container for like arts and crafts it's multilayered and can store and organize any parts that I was working on if I didn't finish. No chance for anyone to make a mistake and I always know where everything is when I need it.

My dad used mine to cut copper wire and didn't understand why i was mad lmao. He bought me a new pair when he looked closely at them. He actually used two different pairs of mine (mr hobby and nicer tamiya) because the first ones didn't work as well as he expected
Isn't copper litterally the softest metal ? I'd think the plastic housing wasn't a problem. How were they damaged ?
Copper is not the softest metal, nor is it softer than gunpla plastic. Any type of wire is going to ruin God hands.
I guess some nippers will be more damaged than others, understandable.
You should always use the right tool for the job. Use wire cutters to cut wire, not flush cutters or nippers designed for plastic.
It might not have been copper. It was a pretty thin gauge but it took multiple chunks out of the edge of both pairs that made them nearly useless

A lot of these comments don't pass the vibe check, but why do people not use proper tools ever?
because most peopl arent professionals. hell even professionals would use whatever they have on hand instead of the right tools.
I'm not a pro at household stuff but I was a mechanic for a bit. If I had to remove drywall anchors but the heads were crushed and needlenose pliers just couldn't grab? Divorce
In her defense, she's very crafty and was in the middle of making me a gunpla display shelf.
Okay... temporary separation then.
Temporary, or until she buys me that new kit I've been eyeing.
Hey you're not cheap enough to be bought off with just any kit. RG/MG or bust.
MGSD Barbatos is my next desire
PG or you walk
She actually just got me PG Gramps Unleashed about a month ago. I can't be too mad.
This is all pre-planned!
She's had it out for the nippers all along!
Pg unicorn perfectibility with led set and you renew your vows
But only if she includes the Divine Expansion set
Nah, 1/12 scale Rx-78-2, or he's taking the cat
Lololol, much fair,best of luck!
pg unleashed is the only correct redemption
PGU zgok?
That's an excellent bribe when asking for forgiveness.
Time to make her sleep in the couch
Or don't be dramatic and give her a store link with a note "you know what to do"
Ok, I think that’s very cute. She’s a keeper and won’t make that mistake again! Plus, being called tard farts, I’m not certain you can do better…… lol
This… 100% Or the replacement is coming out of her craft budget!
I was being Sarcastic. O.o
If you can be sarcastic but not recognize it… 🤷♂️
Sarcasm translates poorly through text.although given your downvotes, vs my upvotes. I'd say most got the joke and you're stuck in mediocrity
Yeah, you’re winning all the value in life. Cause this one thread is your whole world, I guess.
She needs to buy you new one
This is the consequences of not telling our wives what our hobbies cost.
Use her fabric scissors to cut cardboard
Better yet to cut some wires.
Order of thoughts: 1. That's not for dywall 2. Oh cool, Varguil. Didn't realize this was the Gunpla sub. 3. ARE THOSE GODHANDS? My condolences.
Oh, it's Moon lmao
I'm a wife and hell I know better. But I'm also a builder of model kits myself. It's how we met. Rip godhands

straight up she saw saw these and thought “pliers” oh my god 😭
easy fix. buy new wife.
Did you have the leather cover on? She would've understood that means those are more delicate than the other tools
You can leave a few threads of a screw in the drywall anchor and remove it with the back prongs of a hammer if they are the small plastic anchors.
Ohhhhh, that's the Gunpla version of using mom's fabric scissors to cut paper.
This isn't the first time I seen someone post on here about a spouse breaking a pair of god hands because of inappropriate use. The one that stood out to me the most was the one where the guy's wife broke them because she was trying to bend a hook on her bra.
I know a good divorce lawyer if you need one. Lol
Im sure you meant to say ex-wife, right?

It's true, I screwed myself, haha. I'm actually very fortunate, she's super great about my hobbies and I try to do the same for her.
Same here, my wife is super supportive of my hobbies and vice versa. Bummed and happy for you gunbro.
Oof.
I’m sorry for your loss
Oh hell no. That's why told my wife any tools on my hobby table is off-limit --- not even the paper-towels!
Disrespectful wow
As someone with both The Good Scissors and The Good Nippers: leave decoy tools out.
r/gunplagore
This is why I tell my wife how much I spend on certain tools. Not all of them, but some of them for sure.
May he rest in GodHand heaven 🪦
Why would she even use nippers instead of needle nose pliers??????!!?!?!?
So she sleeping on the couch tonight or nah?
Need help with the body?
Damn.

You don't have pliers? Or a nanny?
Oh my...
This breaks me
That's too bad
F sorry mate.
Ouch
You need a new wife I think. Or a new pair of nippers. I dunno....
Divorce
my dad started using mine to cut wires and i was so mad like bro
It still works but I get why youre buying a new one. I bought a new one too.
Have you contacted a divorce lawyer yet?
Bummer. Love the handle btw. 10/10
Tbh it needs to be made very clear that nippers are never meant to be used for anything other than plastic.
Give her a Ruitool. BTW, you're welcome broke builders.
Tip for spaces: if you see laser engravings on a tool, they are not the cheap ones
Hg varguil
Time to remove wife now..
Divorce. Immediately. No questions asked.
DIVORCE
Replace it. And the nippers.
Now, ex-wife. I assume? ;)

Crazy though but maybe use the tool that's designed for drywall anchors? They are literally threaded and have a Phillips head
If you have a Hobby Town near you, they sell them there. That's where I get mine
what about dspia sta? looks like a godhand copy but half the price.
That sucks. I'm gonna be honest though. If your wife thinks nippers are a good tool for that. Did she pop it out a little and try to use the nippers as pliers? She probably should not be doing house projects unsupervised. No disrespect or anything. I don't think she knows what she's doing.
Is she accidentally think this is a plier or what?
Sounds like you're going to be hammering in some nails with the side of her louboutins today.
But may God help you if you use the fabric scissors on paper.
she better buy you new ones or its time to reconsider the marriage if she does this to your things imagine the amount of respect she has for everything you own
I'd make her be the one to replace them and see how she likes it. Playing dumb can't always be their scapegoat smh
Why are you so upset about it. People are always stressing the little things on reddit, I swear. Just throw them away. It's not the only ones in the world. There's plenty of women walking around.
Now you have to use her sewing scissors for something
Sounds like your single again
I dunno if this would be enough for me to file for divorce 😂
Why don't people store their Gunpla tools separate from their garage/handyman tools? I don't keep mine on the same floor, let alone the same room or toolbox.
It was on the kitchen table as I was in the middle of a build. She thought they were the cheapies that I have several of.
I broke some god hands cutting sprues on a gundam kit. I had only had it for about a week. When I asked for a refund or replacement they suggested I was using them improperly. I guess their sharpness makes them particularly brittle. I think I ended up just keeping my broken god hands, never built gundam again.
Oooof
well the instruction says you suppose to cut the sprues usong a normal cutter then trim the nub using godhand. but the clear parts are extra hard esp those gundam action base.
I truly wonder how people can be this genuinely stupid. Like this is plain dumb.
go around town show them your godhand ask them how much they think it cost. only modellers know godhand.
This has nothing to do with the hobby and everything to do with common sense.
nothing about the godhand make it looks like something expensive that should be used on delicate things.
Once again. Common sense. You don't use a wire cutter to remove nails. Seriously, are you just dumb? This has nothing to do with God hands.
i use wire cutters for all sorts of stuff. they are durable as fuck. i can understand for common people they might not notice godhand doesnt look so durable and strong.
Then you, too, are plain dumb. Use the proper tool for a job, and it will never break. You're arguing a point that is wrong no matter what.
you sound real smart. i dont see a problem using a real wire cutter to remove a nail. sure i could use a plier but a wire cutter does it well. im not the one using godhand to do so. but most people never heard about godhand and just think it is a normal cutter.
You sound really smart. I don't see a problem using my hand to hammer a nail in. Sure, it makes my hands bloody , but it does well. Not everyone has heard of a hammer and thinks using your hand is okay.
Why don't you have a calm, mature conversation about things you'd prefer not to get damaged from misuse?
Ex-wife?
I’m so sorry to hear about your divorce…
