I miss all the press to handstand mounts. Look beautiful but I guess they take up too much time.

Marisheba

My greatest wish for the code is that it will be reconfigured to bring back balance beam holds and strength elements--so presses, handstands, and scales.

Happy-Light

Yes, balance should be evaluated as both static and active motion!

-gamzatti-

They should change the rule so that holds etc don't count towards the time limit. It's only a few seconds anyway.

OstrichUnlucky1097

I always liked Shannon Millers. The handstand mounts are so pretty and difficult

Mother_Arachnid7688

Tatyana Lysenko’s 3 layout step out mount is incredible. https://youtu.be/57KuXIb9uCk?si=AwnrY6hO6LQEHjmO

Marisheba

She makes it look easy!

Strawberrybanshee

I think the Bayatova looks cool because its like a pommel horse routine. I always liked moves that take strength The neck stand makes me nostalgic for the 96 games as they were the first Olympic games I watched. The Rankin is my favorite and I'd like to see that one more. The Li mount hurts my back to watch. After that one and the Li spin I need to watch this girl's entire beam routine!

Syncategory

Their subtitles spell it Bayatova for some reason, but it's Baitova, the same gymnast the double-twisting Yurchenko vault is named after.

MollyVigo

Skye Blakeley has been doing a neck stand mount for at least the past two season, so maybe they'll make a comeback.

Marisheba

I wonder if maybe we'll see the Rankin again. It takes much less time than most of the handstand mounts, so seems a more likely candidate than most to show up in a modern routine. Fingers crossed!

Southern_Baseball648

I have never seen the Rankin before so amazing, it's like she's weightless

Scorpiodancer123

The difficulty and risk of doing that at the end of the beam is immense. I really miss unusual beam mounts.

Wanderstern

Me too. I'd give anything to have more varied mounts. I love watching older beam routines to see what mounts they use, and I love compilations like this.

For acro gymnasts, one-armed handstands on a precarious point like that (they train on blocks, then go on their partner's hand/head/foot/knee) are an essential skill, but they have an event entirely about balances. WAG has gone very much in the opposite direction.

TheLarix

It's not a named skill, but Jackie Bender's mount sequence was unreal. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8WngEh_xzk4&pp=ygUSamFja2llIGJlbmRlciBiZWFt

OstrichUnlucky1097

I loved her mounts

deadmallsanita

The Garrison!

Creative_Square_612

I think that’s the full twisting back layout? I don’t think it’s ever been perfectly executed (not sure if it’s even possible without piking it down a bit to find the landing), but this is a pretty impressive example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12AQGlF9M4o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12AQGlF9M4o)

ExposedTamponString

Mine too! But honestly there’s no way to do it without incurring massive deductions. They need to upgrade it to a E

GavestonYouBastard

No mention of the Garrison mount? I can't remember the last time it was performed. Kristie's back flexibility was unreal. She could've done Tousek/Groshkova side flacs no problem.

problematic_glasses

my back is spasming just watching the garrison

GymEd2022

The Phillips makes my back hurt just watching it. I love the press handstands and the neck stand mounts.

LibraryLadyWY

Tsavdaridou mount is my absolute fave. So elegant and daring.

Gazmeister_Wongatron

Same. I think Ling Jie performed it the best though... https://youtu.be/buGshNnfBus?si=1j3raZvAoha4Dhb-

OberonCelebi

The Tsavdaridou being worth the same as a round off-backhandspring mount is criminal. Most of the beam skills vs. round off mount go up in value: Korbut (B/C), backhandspring (B/D), tuck/pike/layout stepout (C/E), Kochetkova (D/E), Onodi/Dunn (D/F), 2 ft layout (E/F), arabian/Erceg (F/G). Meanwhile, Rulfova/Tsavdaridou (D/D), Shishova/Garrison (F/F), and layout full (G/G) remain the same. It's horrendously inconsistent and disincentivizes some of the most difficult skills.

Gazmeister_Wongatron

Absolutely. I've always thought a proper Rulfova (not like Khorkina's cheated ones) should be rated at least an E, so the mount version should be an F. Even with the current ratings though, the Tsavdaridou really should be at least an E.

zxcv-qwerty

I love the one arm handstand one! I wish beam had more balance holds these days.

Cordykin

I always liked Milosovici’s tucked Korbut flip

lmm7

I always liked Sam Shapiro’s mount!

MysteriousPool_805

Yang Bo's and Groshkova's are my favs.
