That was a hell of a run on sentence there, boss, but it did a pretty solid job of conveying about 1% of how terrifying and frantic being in combat probably really is.

It was all about how much they wanted it. For the humans it was a mediocre planet that would take a lot of effort to terraform for humans.
For the Trea, it was a primary birthing world with a Ton of historical significance.
When the mantid did something similar to humanity, we 1% them, rebuilt the world and have the screaming ones and the martial orders to this day

The slavery thing is making my skin itch. I did 23 years (mixed army and marine) so I am down for a righteous fight, but I despise people who have no interest in me past how I make them look good.
