That conversation with Ted, where she says that terrible thing that makes her the worst person on the rooftop, so Ted can freely say his terrible thing without feeling like an awful human being. She was the only one who noticed how much the barney & Robin marriage situation was killing him and gave him an outlet. Even though it meant admitting out loud something that makes her a terrible wife and mom.
Wishing you never had kids doesn't make you terrible in any way whatsoever... you still love them, and there's no way for that wish to come true. It's called post partum depression and she was going through it. Most people have. It goes away, and you regret saying those things later in life. You wouldn't understand unless you have kids of your own.
I know. Personally, I don't think it makes her a terrible mother in any way. But she felt like it would make her a terrible mom and to voice it out despite that- to put herself in that vulnerable position of judgement in front of Ted- that's not easy.
it's not, but she makes it seem like she feels that way, selfish. So for her, she was a bad mom because of that and that's why she admitted it in front of Ted, so Ted could share his own "selfish" confession
Yes it does. Kids are the greatest thing you can possibly have in this world, no matter how much they make your life worse. If you don't want kids you're just not a good person
Calling bull on this take as it's simply not true. Not everyone will appreciate parenthood and certainly there are more than enough that don't wish for it. To say all of those people are bad people for a common life choice is a wild take dude.
Are you mentally retarded, or just religious? Kids are a massive strain on everything in your life, from working all the time to afford everything, to getting home and caring for them 24/7. They ruin your relationships, because you just don’t have the time and energy anymore. And some people literally just don’t like kids in general. Like Robin, in the show, a lot of people are like that, just not being able to connect with kids and hating having them around. Religion may say having kids is a blessing, but they honestly suck and I wouldn’t be surprised if overpopulation is solved by newer generations not wanting kids because they don’t have religion brainwashing them into thinking they’re a blessing.
I don’t quite understand why this was so good. The two sides were both compelling. Ultimately Ted’s original compromise of saving the historic facade made more sense.
It’s more that Ted was in a really tough place career wise if Zoey’s recording stopped the Arcadian from being torn down. Instead he’s able to build it and become the youngest architect to design a skyscraper in NY. Also Barney probably loses his job if that build falls through.
In your response, you only look at the immediate and not at the consequences. Ted behaved very irresponsibly and very stupid in this arc. He trashed his own project to a woman he doesn’t know at all simply because she’s pretty. Then when the captain wanted to save him, he wouldn’t let him. But in the case the Arcadia remained, Barney would be in trouble because of Ted, Ted would lose the contract and possibly his firm. And later on Ted would resent Zoe for costing him his dream and they would very likely break up. Eventually he would have lost everything.
I would have loved it if Zoe and Ted could make it work because I like Jennifer Morrison, but they were a bad match.
And if the Arcadia was significant in any way, why didn’t anyone look after the building?
I know you're joking but this actually always makes me really mad about Lily (amongst many MANY things I hate about her), she was impartial once when she found out Marshall lied about Robin being married and that's it
When she supported Marshall when he was doing the environmental non profit. She tried to run off on her vacation to Spain, but she came to her senses and went back to help Marshall.
I was going to say sabotaging Ted's past relationships, I don't think he fully comprehend how much pain and grief his romantic delusions would have brought him or even how irrationally picky he was to dump girls for small things like that creed CD he found lol.
He's his own worst enemy to true love LoL
I mean sure all that is true, but it’s not really Lily’s call to make. It’s not like Ted’s life was in danger. It’s not her decision whether Ted should have been with Karen or anyone else. If she was concerned about him emotionally, then she should have tried discussing it with him, not going behind his back and sabotaging his relationships. Breaking him up was a total asshole move
Okay it's been made clear every opportunity that the gang didn't like his romantic escapades, Ted always disregarded what all the sound advice given and when it blows up on his face and effects his friends he gives them a "what did I do look".
We can argue all day how it's no one else's call to make but that's not true if the person making the final decision is incompetent, irresponsible and never takes accountability when others are dragged into it. Then does the same thing all over again, if I was Ted's friend (which I wouldn't know why or how that ever happens) I'd kick his ass for each time he thought of giving Karen a second chance.
That's just the tough love I subscribe too along with my best friend who's still in my life 16 years now, that bastard sets me straight from time to time and I appreciate him for it while also returning the favor LoL.
Yeah it's obviously manipulative and people hate on her for it but this is basically the sitcom version of getting someone out of an abusive relationship. The reality isn't funny but the sitcom version is a super annoying person that turns Ted into an equally pretentious douche and she saved him
People throw way too much hate at her for this. Those relationships were dumpster fires, and Lilly was incredibly insightful to notice. Not to mention extremely tactful in how she handled it. In most cases, she wasn’t creating the problem, she was just drawing Ted’s attention to it iirc.
I just had a discussion about this with my friends when we were watching! (I've seen the whole series before, they haven't). I think lily showing both of them the magazine article was honestly super tactful, she wasn't doing anything manipulative that wasn't something she could have done coincidentally. She totally could've just been reading the article and sharing it with her friends naturally. She didn't make anyone think there was cheating, she didn't lie or force anything. She just encouraged them to address their problems, not even to break up
No I'm sorry but that was a shitty thing to do. Karen may have been insufferable, but thay didn't give Lily any right to decide on Ted's behalf when his relationship with her or anyone else was over.
She bet Marshall that Ted and Robin wouldn't end up together. Depending on which ending you like and consider canon, she was right and IMO, that's one of the best things Lily could have done. Not stick us into an ending that didn't fit the characters' character development in the later seasons one bit.
Again, can't stress this enough, just my opinion :)
Oh, I have, many times. Which I why I said "Depending on which ending you like and think is canon" and "just my opinion". Indicating people have preferences on which ending they enjoy.
Wow I can't believe a lot of ppl here are justifying Lily's actions which were not justifiable.. y'all are too blinded by the love. She doesn't want ppl to interfere in her life then why is she interfering in theirs? Hypocrite much?
Ghe beat forsure, one of my top moments ngl
Why does everyone keeps saying this? What is ghe?
The post has a typo. It says ghe beat instead of the best.

Yeah. I’m calling BS. You’re obviously a troll and I’ve already wasted too much time typing this short reply. 😒 I’m out.
Haha, idiot
You’re entire account is just shitposting

Do you know what’s the cause of overpopulation 😂
It was an over exaggeration
Lol
how’s bro gonna put that whole block of text over lily’s picture
Aw man, i wrote it first
AGREED
She saved that goat that beat Ted up 😂
She saved *ghat* goat *ghat best* Ted up FTFY /s
She forgave her father and gifted her kids a relationship with their grandfather
This is an actual contender.
This!!!
Masterminding the plan that got the Arcadian knocked down
Underrated response

Barney and Ted would lose their job otherwise. This would be especially bad for ted, ironically enough
Yeah, I totally get that… but the entire city losing a historic, iconic building so 2 guys can keep their jobs?
In your response, you only look at the immediate and not at the consequences. Ted behaved very irresponsibly and very stupid in this arc. Being an imparsial slap bet comissioner
I know you're joking but this actually always makes me really mad about Lily (amongst many MANY things I hate about her), she was impartial once when she found out Marshall lied about Robin being married and that's it
She was not. 10 slaps to her husband? Barney only got 3 slaps. A sham
Only 5 was issued from Lilly, the others came from marshals negotiations.
Lawyered!
That's still an extra 2 slaps for the same crime.
The extra 2 slaps were because Barney slapped him prematurely
\*premature slapulation\*
This is now my new favourite statement
Ate 33 hot dogs in 8 minutes.
This is the actual underrated comment.
Admitting that she regretted being a mom to ted so he'll come to his sense
When she supported Marshall when he was doing the environmental non profit. She tried to run off on her vacation to Spain, but she came to her senses and went back to help Marshall.
The bare minimum? Not leaving her husband… Lilly standards are low af
We got ghe beat, everybody!!!
braytu and ghe beat! My favorite Hi Hi's album!
She spelled "the" and "best" correctly.
I should hope so considering she's a kindergarten teacher!
Sabotaged Ted and Karen she was really annoying
I was going to say sabotaging Ted's past relationships, I don't think he fully comprehend how much pain and grief his romantic delusions would have brought him or even how irrationally picky he was to dump girls for small things like that creed CD he found lol. Taking away Hammond Druthers’ baseball.
Break Ted and Karen up
No I'm sorry but that was a shitty thing to do. Karen may have been insufferable, but thay didn't give Lily any right to decide on Ted's behalf when his relationship with her or anyone else was over.
Also an actual contender. Not just Karen. Anyone she felt who wasn't right for Ted to begin with. Even Robin
That's not a good thing to do... you don't break relationships like that, you talk about it to your friends.
Being the Mom of the group & gave life lessons to everyone
The ghe beat? She might of made beets with ghee, she is a good cook.
Forgiving her father and letting him back into her life fully again.
Break up Ted and Karen 🤣

As an original ending denier, I agree with you
You obviously haven't seen the deleted scene where Marshall says "Pay Up"
Oh, I have, many times. Which I why I said "Depending on which ending you like and think is canon" and "just my opinion". Indicating people have preferences on which ending they enjoy.
Return from San Francisco
The Kraken!!
*gay beat
Either admitting she has doubts about being a mom so Ted can confess or that time she saved Missy the Goat from being slaughtered
I’m quite sure she beat Marshall when he had a partial … then had a sandwich
Give marvin a relation with his granpa that she forgave
Already know my answer for Barney it’s instant
When she left marshal. The show would've been better
Real.
