In my own head canon Otto absolutely switches to Team Black in the middle of his tirade towards the feckless, insolent pup Aegon—and no one can convince me otherwise.
Let’s be honest, the plan was dubious at best and Cole pulled it out of his ass and was clearly grasping at straws but it still came close as hell to working
I don't the plan was bad in the chance foe it to work. The issue was that it wouldn't have had as much as an effect that Aegon would have wanted. Like the war still would have gone on through her kids, they would be even more upset then before, and now the greens would lose another member of the kingsguard with ability for petty vengeance.
It worked better than Daemon's plan, less moving parts.
Better in the sense that he came close to actually killing the intended target, but B&C (and Larys) ended up causing a lot more chaos.

They're portrayed as being insanely costly for anyone, meaning that they will enact a toll on the purchaser that will not be forgotten easily no matter if it's Loren Lannister.
In GOT it seems like the cost is having someone commit suicide and offer themselves to the Many-Faced God, but the specifics are never explored. Even if it doesn't matter who it is, that seems kinda difficult.

TG whining about Aegon would never agree to this when he's exactly as impetuous and impulsive in the book as well, described as "quick to anger & slow to forgive", hanged all the ratcatchers there too and would absolutely think this is a good idea out of sheer thirst for vengeance. The show had his character pinned. The other thing was ppl saying Otto tried to send Westerling too...wanted to assasinate Rhaenyra too"..when the Blacks didn't yet know Viserys was dead & the Greens had the element of surprise with them! Two totally different situations. Media literacy dead smh.

TBH it's so silly but it was almost a success.
If Otto had overseen the assassination, it would have been a huge Victory, but they hurried the order.
Killing Rhaenyra might've been a success. But it still leaves her children alive and kills the "Rhaenyra the cruel" propaganda along with her.

“Looney tunes ass plot” they got an assassin into Rhaenyra’s room and only got saved by pure luck, I don’t think we can really mock the idea.
If it's stupid and it works it's not stupid, and that plan worked like a dream until it fucked up.
