Stop brushing it. Use deep conditioning treatments and leave ins. Put some product in it when wet, lightly scrunch with a microfibre towel or a t-shirt, and LEAVE IT ALONE. don’t touch it, don’t play with it.

Yes this! Experiment with some light curl creams or gels, scrunch, and then don't touch it. If you don't like the feeling of wet hair like myself, use a diffuser on medium/low heat and low air until it's about halfway dry. Though letting it fully air dry is better for frizz. Definitely don't brush. If you must, use a wide tooth comb and a light mist of water to reset the curls. Like u/perfectdrug659 said, it sounds like you aren't treating your curly hair as curly.

I reccomend gently brushing it when its wet, if you dont brush your hair it can fall out, hair follicles need to be stimulated. Or they can become inactive if you just “dont touch it” ever. I recommend trying a protein treatment (to see how your hair reacts to it) and then deep conditioner, if you have low porosity hair, i recommend lighter products and occasionally using a clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner

Your hair is curly but it sounds like you aren't treating it like it's curly

Hi! I’m a hairdresser! Curly hair tends to run on the dryer side naturally so lightening it adds to that as well. Not that you can’t do it, you just really have to baby your hair!! I think you would really love Matrix’s “food for soft” or the “mega sleek” shampoo and conditioner. I would use mega sleek shampoo hen you plan to blow dry your hair and food for soft when planning to air dry! Purology 21 benefit leave in conditioner and some sort of oil and I love Its a 10 Miracle leave in potion! All of these are super hydrating but not heavy!

It might be beneficial for you to find a local curly hair salon for a curly cut. They will teach you how to care for and style your curly hair usually as part of your initial consult/appointment. You can look up “curly girl method” which will help you learn the initial steps and introduce you to beginner products and methods. From there you can experiment and find what’s right for you. Sulfate free shampoo, a wide tooth comb with leave in conditioner, a denman brush, a gel or mousse, and scrunching with a tshirt or paper towel are a great place to start. Style your hair wet. Let it air dry. Give it love and some time.

my hair used to be just like that! I bleach mine probably once every 4-5 months & currently have my hair bright orange rn whilst ironing it every so often for events. i’d say it definitely needs a moisturizing mask & an overnight leave in! also it seems like you brush through it so to prevent frizziness, i’d just finger detangle while in the shower or as soon as you get out. Try to invest in a moisturizing mousse & if you have a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment i’d definitely take that for a spin & dry it on low-warm in an almost scrunching motion w the dryer. For a nighttime routine, i’d also def get a bonnet to keep your curls nice & tight as you shift & turn during the night. I hope this somewhat helped!

Ur hair is DRY 💀 wash only 1x a week, condition every shower, ONLYYYYYYY BRUSH WHEN WET!!!!!! And get a really good leave in conditioner for curly hair, I use this really good smelling one literally smells like cake I can’t remember the name rn but it’s a tall skinny bottle w a pink label black cap and it has a siloihette on the label but it works wonders, and LUSETA rose oil. Rose has insane moisturization properties and will do you a lot of justice, good luck ❤️

Pink lotion is pink and smells good. In the “ethnic” section usually.

Try a hair mask

dumpster_kitty

Lots of conditioner!

Looks like it needs moisture or protein. Or both. You'll have to play around with it.
