perhaps invest in a diffuser, scrunch your wet hair with a tshirt not a towel.. those were the first things i did and instantly my curls formed a better shape and held for longer!

check out the wavy and curly hair subreddits! im no expert but those subs have helped me a little. they have product recommendations and such based on your hair porosity/length/etc

Let me start off by saying your hair is beautiful imo!! & the colour is to die for, though I know that's off topic lol. First, what u/ktbevan said :) I work in a cream mids-ends and then brush it through, lightly shake my head at a few angles, and then scrunch with a tshirt also at a few angles. If you try out a diffuser, look at a couple videos by people with similar hair textures to watch how they do it, and what their methods encourage their hair to do (example, some ppl go upside down for max volume). Personally if I'm just trying to go about my day I diffuse until it's about halfway dry and let it airdry the rest. If you're worried about frizz - dooon't touch it while it's drying and you're done styling. If that doesn't seem to help, try out a flyaway cream once it's fully dry, a super light application should help with the biggest offenders lol. It looks like it might need a light trim, and a liiiiiittle layering in the back center where it's laying flat in the 1st pic. Just to help lighten things up and also just for split ends (tho your hair looks super healthy from what I can tell :)) In the second pic, it looks like the products you tried might just be too heavy for your hair, or too much product, not evenly distributed, OR potentially used on your hair when dry? I do most of my styling while wet. Helps dilute everything into the water and not cake onto one spot. I basically have the phrase "squish to condish" stuck in my head forever every time I do it lol. For fine/medium hair, less is usually more, so styling wet really helps me with that because I'm usually pretty heavy handed. I'd love to know more about what products you're using! TLDR - light trim, curl cream when wet, scrunch lightly with tshirt, air dry or diffuse. Keep in mind I'm an amateur in hair school rn, and you know your hair best! Your hair looks great already so these small changes might make a big difference. side note, I use the app Yuka to narrow down options in the stores. helps to let you know of harmful ingredients in products. (not an ambassador of this, just really love it lol.)

I love the Yuka app! I hate when products contain ingredients that are only safe in amounts of .01%. Sure, I trust the hypothetical science, but I don't trust the factory. I've worked In a factory that made food products and the amount of stuff that SHOULDN'T have happened with chemicals is scary. And that's just the chemicals used in the manufacturing process. The guy actually measuring and formulating ingredients worked alone! And only one of our Quality Control workers actually took her job seriously.

Your hair might just be more wavy than curly, though if your products are too heavy that will make your curls look looser. Your hair length also might be too long and weighing down the curls.

Dry_Ask5493

It looks like you could use a trim but your hair is like mine. I just wash it, brush it and then dip my head and shake it a bit to let my curls do their thing, then let it hair dry and not brush it.

First off, I have to say you have beautiful hair. It needs a little trim and maybe cut even in the back. Beside that 😊

Your hair looks so pretty with less manipulation, imo! I bet if you plopped it with flexible hold hair cream and got a silk pillowcase, it would help your hair health a lot!

Shea moisture hair care and if your still dealing with frizz use some hair oil (make sure the ingredients are good tho)
