At the begininng of the Blue Shift, grab the pistol, go to Barney's locker and use every one of your bullets (dont waste them) on the box below the locker, it will break revealing the chumtoad.

This is from the mod Azure Sheep, but there is one in Blue Shift. You have to use all of your ammo basically, but if you shoot the cardboard box enough in the locker room when you get your vest and helmet a chumtoad will appear. You can’t do anything with it though.
The snapshot is from blue shift, blame color inaccuracies on my crappy iPad camera because this is steam deck, unless you mean something like usage, in which it actually stems from an unused half life 1 thingy. But I’m guessing he debuted as a usable thing in azure sheep
UPDATE: he is loose, he’s killed five and sabotaged the crystal, and I have no ammunition, I should have never let him free.

Or, in Opposing Force, right before the teleporter room in the lambda complex, shoot the grate above the door.
