I worked beside that one. An empty one got shredded one day and I just happened to be looking at it when it did. The blast was huge. It shut off all the heat treating equipment in the mill. If an empty one did what I saw, heard and felt I can just imagine what a full forklift propane tank would do.
This sector is on a roll. The ministry of labour is in another mill today because a guy got some fingers caught and amputated by a roll being loaded with a crane
I saw someone post on Facebook that they drove past Ottawa St N and there were emergency vehicles from Hamilton and Dofasco responding to something in one of the large green building…
Per Media371 on X/Twitter
Reports of a loud bang/explosion felt across several areas of Hamilton a short time ago. As per @ HamiltonFireDep there were many calls placed to 9-1-1 but nothing has been found.
@ HamiltonPolice units also investigating. #HamOnt
https://twitter.com/Media371/status/1784007450712051771
Nothing definite from the other news sources but reports say felt as far as Grimsby and Burlington
Why are people calling 911 just because there was a loud noise? I always thought 911 was for emergencies that are life threatening and the location can be told to the 911 operator.
So lets say it was an earthquake that made the rumble noise. What do you think they are going to do?... Now if the earthquake caused a building collapse and the location is know that is a different story.
They may think it's an explosion or accident. There was a loud explosion type sound near my aunts house last week. A couple people called 911, and my aunt thought it might have been a car crash. Turned out a house exploded a few blocks away (literally, you can see through the house, it has large holes).
Crown Point East.
Was cooking dinner. I didn't hear anything, but my wife did while putting our daughter down. She just called her mother, who lives over in McQuesten West area, and asked her to look over towards Dofasco. She said nothing looks out of the ordinary.
Edit: She just called back, saying she is seeing smoke and flames, but looks like it is from a building. Don't know if it's normal or not.
lol, all good. I was just kidding around because of how normal a description that is for the place. Let us know if she sees anything else going on and you get an updates.
I will should anything come my way.
Just remember my MiL does not know the layout of Dofasco. She only explained what she can see and from where she thinks it is. As I said, she said it looked like it was coming from a building.
Well, no, it can't be.
If you describe something as looking like it always looks like, even if something did happen at that exact place, it's not relevant information.
That's just wrong. When something abnormal happens it's worth questioning things that may be normal.
This person is also citing smoke and flames from a building, not a smokestack. That's never normal.
lol, what nonsense. The comment is obviously vague and could absolutely mean the smokestacks, and it's entirely clear that that information is not being conveyed one way or another.
If it helps, I can see it. Looks entirely normal, confirming the nothingness of the report.
I can see as much as that person can see to dismiss the relevance of the "flame and smokes".
Just stop talking if you've given up on whatever your silly argument was here. I was being sarcastic at the original comment because it doesn't mean anything, it doesn't.
Facebook post on the Hamilton mountain group has people saying they heard it in Rosedale, Crown point and several east¢ral mountain locations.
I'm in inch park and didn't hear anything but I live in a basement apartment.
Downtown Stoney Creek, two hours after this thread was posted, and I have no idea what this is about. (Well I skimmed the comments, so I have a vague idea.) But that's a no from me, dawg.
I was giving my kids baths upstairs and heard something. The fan was on in the bathroom and the amount of noise my kids make drowned it out. Heard a muffled bang.
Raleigh area.
CTV news is reporting a propane cylinder is the cause of the loud explosion per Hamilton Police.
https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/propane-cylinder-source-of-loud-boom-in-hamilton-police-1.6864194?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar
I’ll be honest, didn’t hear or feel a thing. Riverdale area. Heard almost what sounded like gunshots around 5pm and it scared my kids but it was I’m just assuming my neighbours playing with a cap gun bullet thing.
I was at Bayfront Park right by the train yard and legit no-one was even phased lol. Theres shit like this on a more-than-daily basis… but tbh I wondered if someone would make another reddit post about a sound
Im near Montgomery Park. I initially dismissed it as someone slamming their car door parked outside on the street.
My windows slightly shook and kinda felt the vibration.
I’m downtown ish and all I’ve heard for the last 20 min is sirens. Way way more than usual. Sounds like all the cities emergency is going east. Queen area
Strange that it happened during 7p.m shift change....buy the way ohtani hit a homerun at the Rodgers center at the exact same time....for once I didn't hear a thing in the downtown area.
I'm right down the street.
The factory behind us makes these ginormous bangs all the time & we don't know wtf is going on back there. I hate it. It's scary AF, and it shakes the whole damn block. So when that happened, we just thought the place behind us dropped something suuuper fukkin big & heavy.
Christ! These explosions have been happening for several weeks. I started a thread after hearing one. I've talked to neighbours who have heard them and had their windows rattled. How is it first, they keep happening, and second, nobody knows where they are coming from?
Propane cylinder explosion Source: https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/propane-cylinder-source-of-loud-boom-in-hamilton-police-1.6864194
What kind of propane cylinder shakes houses from Grimsby to Aldershot???
How big was this propane cylinder?!? Thanks for posting.
I don’t believe this for a minute ima be real
Hamilton police are reporting the same.
My wife heard it in Durand! I was on the shitter battling demons and didn’t hear it!
IT WAS YOU
It was a double flusher
Textbook explosive diarrhea?
Hahhahahah
Hahaha
WHO DOES NUMBER 2 WORK FOR
Thanks for halting the demon revolution.
Tough battle but we came out on top!
I'm glad you survived 😂😭
Is that what that was?! My house shook. I live on the east mountain near the brow. Edit: sunninghill neighbourhood
What was it? Am I missing something?
I don't know. Some people said explosion. But according to a other comment, people called 911 but nothing has been found yet.
I work at a steel company and I heard it happened at one of our other locations on Parkdale and Burlington. Propane tank went into our shredder.
I worked beside that one. An empty one got shredded one day and I just happened to be looking at it when it did. The blast was huge. It shut off all the heat treating equipment in the mill. If an empty one did what I saw, heard and felt I can just imagine what a full forklift propane tank would do.

Clearly a Kaiju gate opening in Lake Ontario.
I saw someone post on Facebook that they drove past Ottawa St N and there were emergency vehicles from Hamilton and Dofasco responding to something in one of the large green building…
It's not the steel mill this time! Everything green here
Cannon and gage! I thought someone drove into the back of my house!
Delta here. I also thought my neighbour drove into my house!

Have you seen their lists they put out listing their non emergency calls, the whole city shaking probably seems like an actual emergency in comparison
>Have you seen their lists they put out listing their non emergency calls Sauce? I need to see this.
So lets say it was an earthquake that made the rumble noise. What do you think they are going to do?... Now if the earthquake caused a building collapse and the location is know that is a different story.

Meth.
I’m in Bartonville and did NOT hear it. Weird!
I'm near Montgomery Park and heard it!
Close to Bartonville, and I was sure it was a car accident!
Someone on FB in Burlington by aldershot heard it too.
I'm in Burlington (near Appleby and Lakeshore) we heard it and it shook the house a little. Must have been a BIG industrial propane cylinder.
Our whole place shook and our windows even made a weird noise. Right by the globe off woodward
I was inside of Stelco, heard a massive thump but nothing onsite indicated a problem.
I'm near Valley Park and it shook our house slightly but noticeably.
Durand

Smoke and flames from the steel plant?!?!
I'm not exactly sure, unfortunately.
lol, all good. I was just kidding around because of how normal a description that is for the place. Let us know if she sees anything else going on and you get an updates.

After a boom heard up on the escarpment? Yeah it might actually be relevant.
I'm just relaying what my MiL told my wife. She has since gone out, so I cannot get any further updates or information.
lol, what nonsense. The comment is obviously vague and could absolutely mean the smokestacks, and it's entirely clear that that information is not being conveyed one way or another. If it helps, I can see it. Looks entirely normal, confirming the nothingness of the report.
You can see all of Dofasco? Thanks inspector 🫡
I can see as much as that person can see to dismiss the relevance of the "flame and smokes". Just stop talking if you've given up on whatever your silly argument was here. I was being sarcastic at the original comment because it doesn't mean anything, it doesn't.

Uhh... What explosion?
Maybe a Meteorite based on the range of was heard.
That's my guess. If the boom was big enough therewould be smoke, and I can't see shit lol. Maybe the escarpment is about to slide into lake Ontario
Im near Montgomery Park. I initially dismissed it as someone slamming their car door parked outside on the street. My windows slightly shook and kinda felt the vibration.

Park view west. Shook all our windows and doors
Maybe it was a skyquake! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyquake
Hamilton experienced a skyquake back in 2019! I had completely forgotten until now. It sounds like the exact same thing, again.
I knew that was one theory, but I didn’t know it was confirmed.
Welp, looks like it was much more mundane, as life tends to be :(
North end sounded like thunder
St Clair neighbourhood. It wasn't crazy, but I felt something strong enough to get up and do a walk around my house.

i heard it near quigley and king
South edge of Waterdown on the cliff. (A lot carries over the bay). Sounded similar to that building they detonated last summer.
