Corkage fees are often pretty high, can be $30-$40, which is a lot higher than it initially was - restaurant gets their cut one way or another lol. There's a reason why BYOW never really took off despite the hype when it first became a thing in Ontario.
How much is the bring-your- own bottle and the recorking fee though? Does it equal out to the fee the restaurant is charging for the bottle? Many restaurants half half price bottle nights, might be a cheap option than bringing your own.
You can technically bring a bottle to any restaurant. They adjusted that rule like 15yrs ago.
Little known pricing tidbit. Restaurants typically charge for the glass, what they pay for the bottle. So if you're trying to see if it's worth your money to bring your own bottle+Corkage fee, use the "Glass of wine" price as your baseline.
The wine prices are getting crazy. $20 for a glass of wine for a $25 bottle at the LCBO. We went to the Standard the other week and their corking fee to bring your own bottle is $35, they don't really make it worth it. Anyone else have a more reasonable corking fee?
Victorias, Caro
I think Victoria’s has no corkage charge on Mondays, FYI
The Judge only marks up the bottle cost price by $15. Little known secret

You can BYOW at The Keg! They charge a fee, but not sure what the cost is!
Can you bring your own steak?
You can bring to most places, you may want to call ahead and ask what the corkage fee is. It's pretty rare to be turned down.
I believe it's illegal to turn it down (assuming they have a licence)
Out of curiosity I looked on the Ontario website and there was suggestion it could be rejected at certain times or on certain days.

The whole city is already a bring your own needle place. I’m sure restaurants would be a lot happier if you brought wine instead
