I tried Tolagos on King St W (in the former tea shop by the Westdale library) on Friday and was so impressed! If you've ever wanted to try Nigerian food (it was a first for me) this is the place.
Haven’t officially been there but Le Tambour Tavern. Dropped my daughter off for a friend’s wedding on the weekend and it smelled amazing! Her photos showed some amazing plate presentations. I hope to eat there soon! I appreciate hearing from anyone familiar with this restaurant. What are your favourite dishes?
Echoing the above comment. There are two sister restaurants on the Ossington strip in Toronto (Union and Cote de Boeuf), which are some of my favourites. Le Tambour’s menu is a good mix of both restaurants. Beef tartare, escargot, house salad, and the steak platter got two are our go-to’s. Can’t go wrong with brunch either.
It’s extremely good. There other restaurant in Toronto is one of my favs as well.
Beef tartare, roasted hen, burger, mussels, bavette were all great. Their house salad is incredible, as is the bread.
Here's my top places:
* Cima. I love Cima. I actually prefer the Burlington location as it's not as cramped. But my partner and I go and usually split a pizza and pasta. Love it.
* The Mule. It's honestly gotten too expensive to go as often as we used too (pre-covid, we'd legit go 4 times a month), but the Habanero Brisket taco is a must. I wish they brought back the Halloumi and Banh Mi Pork Belly ones.
* Martello. Another pizza place, their tiramisu is the best I've had at a restaurant. And it's big enough to split 3-4 ways.
* Rapscallion. One of my favourite places to go to with a larger group. If it's a date...you don't really get the same vibe as it's best to order a lot and share.
* The Keg. Love The Keg.
* Royal Pho. Great Pho in Ancaster
* Popeyes. Love them lol.
* Merit. I really enjoy Merit's food, but I get if it's not for everyone. But their fries are really good and I think the best in Hamilton.
I loved the service here when we used to go weekly after our rehearsals. They knew us all and welcomed us even though it would be late at night. The food was pretty great too!
If you're looking for a nice dinner out and don't mind spending a bit moe $$$, Victoria's is amazing. Reasonably priced for what you get, and all very high quality
New owners are slowing driving it into the ground though. Used by excellent, punching well about it's weight, but the new owners are clearly cutting corners. We gave it a fair shot but won't be going back.
Lots of answers in this thread from earlier this month https://www.reddit.com/r/Hamilton/comments/1d6bvlw/top_5_restaurants_in_hamilton/
Do we need this thread every week?
Who can even remember last week
Banh Mi Hue
Safin Grill! (Haven't lived in Hamilton for 20 years but holy fuck doni miss that chicken)

Everyone needs a beef basket from Tally Ho

Cozy Sushi, Goldie’s, Cowabunga, My Pai, Mystic Ramen
Try Menya Kyu you won't be disappointed
I agree they are also great! Love the chicken curry karage bowl!
Love mystic
Mai Pai
Maria's Tortas Jalisco! Absolute must for Mexican food
The Ship. A burger.
The Ship is super unassuming but everything we’ve had from there is delicious.
I agree. Best gourmet burgers in the city. Slightly more expensive than the Works or Hambrgr, but sooo worth it
Fishers Pier 4 pub. Fantastic classic British pub, not a seafood house. Good prices, good people and not pretentious like Born n Raised.

Born and Raised isn’t a British pub tho, weird comparison
That comparison wasn't in my comment.

You can never go wrong with Breezy's
Wildcat
Bean Bar in Westdale had the best shrimp fettucine that I have ever tasted, with the largest shrimp and the most professional sauce.
New owners are slowing driving it into the ground though. Used by excellent, punching well about it's weight, but the new owners are clearly cutting corners. We gave it a fair shot but won't be going back.
That's too bad. I was there in 2021 for the nice shrimp fettucine.
