As you can see, the Ministry of Science has captured a bug and has ethically and humanely replaced its hatred and tyranny with freedom and justice. The results are dramatic.
I'm just waiting for the devs to add a loot goblin bug like this:
"Loot Scavenger" - an ordinary Scavenger, except it's a different colour (blue or purple, something to easily tell it apart from others, and has *much* higher health.. the bug will spawn near any dropped sample containers and will steal them and attempt to bring them back to their nest: if the bug is not killed before it returns to the nest, the samples are lost forever.. their nests are the mushroom type like Shrieker nests so they will also take stratagems/AT weapons to destroy, but if the nest is destroyed in advance, the Loot Scavenger will simply burrow underground if it isn't killed in a few minutes..
I'm telling you now, I can already see a squad of divers frantically spraying their machine guns at a single tiny purple bug skittering quickly on the ground away from them, screaming "HE'S GOT THE SUPERS, FUCKING KILL HIM!!!"
I think it’s fairer that they’d just run into a bug tunnel and then emerge from another open one on another part of the map. Permanently losing samples seems too harsh
already happens if someone drops them down a hole/into deep water. but I get the idea. havign them pop up on the other side of the map and forcing everyone to run over to them for another crack at killing it before it relocates again would be kinda funny (and cruel)
if you can't kill it in 3 attempts though, it should disappear. it wouldn't regen health or anything or have a lot of armor, it's still just a scavenger; as long as the squad focuses fire on it for a bit it'd go down no problem.
The Ministry of Science would like to remind all citizens that bugs have no rights within the Republic of Super Earth and thus any alterations to their nature and will to better support Liberty are 100% ethical, legal, and moral.
That should be the guard dog. For naming sake it would make more sense if it was the guard dog rover since it would probably "rove" more than the laser beam one

TBH creating something other than helldivers is an area this game could explore at some point, but idk how you would fit it into the narrative. I would love to be a one of those rolling robots from star wars with 2 guns and a shield but super squishy when the shield pops.
Cool idea If the federation could domesticate (brainwash) the arachnids into loyal soldiers then super earth can aswell. Have a mission where the helldivers have to recover bug eggs in storage or some expiremental bug pheromon backpack that controls lesser rank bugs.

Divers, this isn't a bug. This is what Super Earth does with the Helldivers that survive the drop, take lethal injury but survive due to stims, and come back...unsalvageable. These are 2 diver remains, fused together and camo'd to blend with the bug colonies. "It" does not think on it's own anymore but is rather controlled by an outside driver. It still has memories and pain, pain from the surgery, and pain from the single mindspace now occupied by 2 consciousnesses that nether can control the body with.
The horror "it" endures so that Democracy can spread, we recognize their sacrifice, willing or not.
