If it helps you feel any better the only time most men ever receive flowers is at their funeral...You know on a brighter note I think I'm gonna give flowers as a fathers day gift this year just to help be the change I want to see.
I hope they love the flowers! Throw a hug in there too and never forget to tell the people you love that you love them.
From experience it was the last thing I told either of my parents before they passed and it really helped knowing that they knew.
I had a realization that I need to tell my dad sorry for being such a little asshole when I was growing up.
I'm a parent now too and realize just how hard he tried to make me a functioning adult and how ungrateful kids are to their dad as they're usually the "mean" parent.
We're both emotionally stunted as hell so I don't even know when or how to start. But I think if he had the same worries as me then he'd appreciate the affirmation that I see how hard he tried.
Maybe I’m weird but I’d rather get a cactus or some other succulent or plant than flowers
Pre cut flowers that die in a few days have no appeal to me, they’re just like a hassle to get rid of
Whereas a little cactus or succulent you put on a window sill you can keep for years
Sure, but if someone gave you flowers, I highly doubt you'd be like "these are dumb, they'll just die"
You'd probably think "how thoughtful, I'll put them in some water".
Hey. Suggestion from a fellow flower loving diver. Tell her directly that you want her to buy you some flowers, if you want dem flowers. You deserve those flowers my friend!
Videogames love me like an abusive girlfriend..
In this case even when you succeed on Meridia the game says "That's it? All the other Super Earth's Helldivers got them OUTSTANDING PATRIOTISM"
Not to worry, I've always got a hug emote for my fellow divers! Seriously, I've got depression, so I really get where you are coming from. As a Klingon therapist once said, "Strong is the warrior who fights on 2 fronts, the enemies outside and the enemies within." Keep up the fight, because no matter what you feel, you aren't fighting alone.
I think life kicks most people in the ass sometimes. When i have it rough i remember there's a ton of people even dumber than i am and they're still getting by.
Ignorance is bliss sometimes. The real punishment is being smart enough to see things as they are and still feel utterly unable to effect them in a meaningful way.
Generational parenting cycles. Society instilling unrealistic expectations, or parents bullying their children because that’s how they were raised.
Sometimes children go years undiagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, depression, autism, etc. and parents just think the kids are lazy.
Immigrant parents who were not successful in their home countries come to the US for a better life, and sometime pressure their kids too much to be Doctors/Engineers. Leading to them feel as if nothing they do is ever good enough.
In the US, there’s a lot of pressure to be successful, however with increasing wealth inequality gap, the “American dream” increasingly unobtainable for many Americans.
I mostly agree with you. You're right that it comes down to parenting. First frame, kids calling him a loser: parents likely didn't socialize the kid properly or didn't introduce the kid to a good community when they were young. Second frame, teachers calling him stupid: parents need to be more involved in their kids education and be selective on school districts; to the extent of moving much like an immigrant parent moved to give the kids a better life. Third frame, worst of all, the parents calling an curious kid a failure: self explanatory.
To me, it's not parents just thinking kids are lazy. It's the parents themselves being lazy. You're right that there is a lot of pressure to be successful, however, the issue isn't the pressure to be successful, it's the lack of guidance. People should be pushed to be the best they can be. However, just pushing a kid without guidance into the water, will cause them to drown.
I don't remember them exactly I just remember they were more democratic, when you got your shit pushed in it didn’t feel like the game was patronizing you
Hey OP! And hey all other Helldivers that aren't OP! I want you to know you're appreciated not just as a helldiver, but as a person.
Without you (managed) Democracy is not possible. I've got you if you need an ear. That said I've got mini helldivers too so my ear may be slow, but for my brothers/sisters/etc in arms you're not forgotten and you are loved, even if you haven't received the attention you deserve. And you deserve it - never forget that.
Except good neighbor 2 guy is still employed and actively calling us stupid with his dumbass 'balancing.' Guy can't balance himself on a fucking toilet seat if he wanted to.
I love this comic. Here is the original

Dumb. In the words of jake the dog being bad at something is the first step at being kinda good at it. It's fun to purposely find things you have never tried and feel that beginner stage again. You never learn a skill so fast as when you're a beginner. The progress feels great. The panels in the comic are the beginner phase, easy to improve on. Too easy to be brainwashed into not trying.
One of my friends told me that the best moments for him, that made him feel special, was when the democracy officer gave his speech whenever he started the mission or ended one, especially when he said that you're the best of the best, to live up to his name, to live up to freedom. It made him feel important. Everyone likes to call the democracy officer authoritarian and trigger happy, but people tend to forget that those guys are genuinely inspiring, and never seem to give you a hard time over your failures, instead encouraging you to see the failure as a lesson to become better.
As always, it's video games, anime, and fiction that makes people happy and be better, not real people.
Edit: Spelling
Just a reminder that this song exists for a reason and that the message of this comic is a huge theme in it! For any impressionable youths here (yeah I’m getting old) you do need education, but you need to find the path that fits “your” goals, not theirs. ;) F the man! I mean… for democracy! Don’t send me to freedom camp plz…
“We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. No dark sarcasm in the classroom. Teacher, leave them kids alone. Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!”
Helldivers, as well as other games can be therapy/self love to a lot of gamers.
I've gotten one flower in my life when I was in middle school. I'll never forget it but I never knew who left it for me.
Or take a pottery class, or volunteer at a local animal shelter, or join a running club. Insert whatever you’re drawn to. As long as you’re finding community, that’s the key. Try a bunch of stuff and see what sticks.
About to turn 27 and things haven't stopped getting worse. But hey, at least we have some virtual bonds helping us breathe one more day at a time.
Here's to brothers made amongst bugs.
45 here.
The ebb and flow of life can go from a peaceful lake to a stormy ocean.
It can drown you if you let it but you have to believe that even the storms will pass.
Basically the nerdy son in the family is shit on at school and at home (think Meg from Family Guy). He plays a Minecraft-like called Craftopia when he gets home from school with an anonymous frend and that seems to be his only positive outlet. Always brings a tear to my eye.

All through dating, up to and including my wife, I've told them all "hey, you do know guys like flowers too". Still never gotten any.
Maybe I’m weird but I’d rather get a cactus or some other succulent or plant than flowers Pre cut flowers that die in a few days have no appeal to me, they’re just like a hassle to get rid of Whereas a little cactus or succulent you put on a window sill you can keep for years

I'm not a fan of flowers But offering up a game of Mario Party would be great
I got flowers once as a present. Marijuana flowers 😎 *gets boo’d out of the building*
This is why I tell my friends that I love them every now and again. You never know when they need someone to say that to them.
Gonna be honest.... Probably one of the best things about having a kid (after getting my C-01 form completed of course). I get like 10 hugs every day
Kids know what’s up
Here's one more that's technically not in helldivers. \*Hugs\*
Thats the only reason i use hug emote - it appeals to my fantasy that ppl just randonly hug each other and support them with suppress fire when needed
I've probably been hugged more in helldivers than in my entire life.
Same. Well, in game it's wholesome but if just try to hug every stranger you see irl you just look creepy or insane.
Damn I just realized I've killed more in helldivers than the past few years.
Same. Feels good man
At least you got a hugs just not in real life
Its been like 7 yrs for me lol, end my self?
dude...
Something about certain death brings out the warm side of people whwn they face it
Ask yourself why. Then fix that. :)
Also remember it's Men's Mental health month
Men alone, together.
Together ape ...I mean men stong

Men together ape.
*“And they’re sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it’s better than drinking alone…”*
When you realize that doing that is probably the closest thing to therapy a significant amount of guys get
Ah yes, that month where men get shamed for opening up after being told for 11 months they need to open up more.
I hate that you're 100% correct
Mental health? What is that?
Men's mental health and Gay mental health are not mutually exclusive
Exactly! Everything can peacefully coexist if we just try
Based
It shares the month a different themed month and will get overlooked so that actually checks out
Meanwhile, after a dark fluid mission: https://i.redd.it/t0agxckip14d1.gif
Really thought that this was gonna be OP's punchline lol
You aight?
Thanks for asking. Sometimes life kicks you between the legs and the only thing that pretends to love you are video games.
You've got this, brother
Been there too brother. Stick it out and keep showing up. I promise it will pass.
Oh I'm good. Just had someone tell me something I could relate to and then I edited this comic :)
Videogames love me like an abusive girlfriend.. In this case even when you succeed on Meridia the game says "That's it? All the other Super Earth's Helldivers got them OUTSTANDING PATRIOTISM"
Hey man, we have A.I that can pretend to love you now too <3.
Isn't escapism great?
Not to worry, I've always got a hug emote for my fellow divers! Seriously, I've got depression, so I really get where you are coming from. As a Klingon therapist once said, "Strong is the warrior who fights on 2 fronts, the enemies outside and the enemies within." Keep up the fight, because no matter what you feel, you aren't fighting alone.
I love you diver. Ok hug over. Back to democracy before ‘they’ see you.
Love you too. Pass the flamethrower!
Wait until those games betray you too lol.
I know betrayal
When life kicks you in the balls, make omelet out of spite.
Hero mentality 💪👏
![gif](giphy|xqM20wZqd67j9AUplm|downsized) I love you fellow helldiver
![gif](giphy|qMHG9goT2I2fuRk0JM)
Is there a lore reason why reality is like that to certain people?
Some people get fucked. Others do the fucking. At least that how I've seen it in my 45 years spinning this dirt ball
That's only stage 2: Being Aware. There are 4 in total. Stage 2 is the bitch of the bunch, 3 and 4 feel much better. Hang in there.

Yup it's the difference between being a coach for your children vs being an authority/manager figure barking orders and chastising
Bro, I’m in my mid-thirties and I felt every bit of this.
45 here. Yeah. Its why I altered the original.
I hate that they made the two star and one star messages meaner, I liked what they said originally.
What were they originally? The current ones are fun imo
I don't remember them exactly I just remember they were more democratic, when you got your shit pushed in it didn’t feel like the game was patronizing you
i remember one was mournful victory but i cant recall the other
Among them were: Pointless sacrifice, worth while sacrifice, glorious sacrifice and then mournful victory and etc.
Don't do the Dark Fluid mission then.
Hey OP! And hey all other Helldivers that aren't OP! I want you to know you're appreciated not just as a helldiver, but as a person. Without you (managed) Democracy is not possible. Thanks, pal. Means a lot.
I'm proud of you
They gotta bring back the old mission complete titles.
Which ones?
I think all of them. Pointless sacrifice, worth while sacrifice, glorious sacrifice, mournful victory, victory, glorious victory.
It wasn’t prepared for how real this post was going to be.
Even if it doesn't feel like it we're all in this together.
Doesn't matter if you dont talk on voice ill do my best to get you out with your samples Timmy. Just tag those bile titans and stay alive.
\*Happy Timmy noises\*
You'll be alright
Explains why I'm gravitating more to the game than another potentially failed quiz.
Unless your playing the new mission lol
Except good neighbor 2 guy is still employed and actively calling us stupid with his dumbass 'balancing.' Guy can't balance himself on a fucking toilet seat if he wanted to.
We take the good with the bad a hopefully they balance out at some point

It is really great. Changed it a bit to make it Helldivers relevant lol
Moke together stong
Honestly when you and a bunch of randoms are just bantering and kicking absolute ass it's like peak gaming.
100% That's the best part
It should have been bugged dark fluid mission that says you are a worthless piece of trash despite completing the only available main object.
I can relate to that one :‘)
'git gud' 'just turn down the difficulty' 'you're playing it wrong'
Also relevant put downs
[Something to cheer you up](https://youtu.be/blSXTZ3Nihs?si=5eGx-sOMyvW_vkgU)
Does it still count if I wanna be a girl?? imo that counts torwards me taking care of my mental health?? :3
🫂🫂🫂❤️❤️❤️❤️
Damn, that’s literally me
Well I hope whatever you have going on that it gets better.
You too bro
Lately with the dark fluid mission this game makes me feel like I'm hanging out with my father. Just calling me a disappointment over and over again
https://i.redd.it/df0mj51bi64d1.gif
this hits hard
Any teacher that says that to a student should just fucking quit.
Are you stupid? Yes

Big Calvin and Hobbes vibes, in a good way.
Remember OP. You're a Helldiver. You are the most important.
One of my friends told me that the best moments for him, that made him feel special, was when the democracy officer gave his speech whenever he started the mission or ended one, especially when he said that you're the best of the best, to live up to his name, to live up to freedom. Helldivers finna dive
And then there are the meridia missions, that call you a failure even when you succeed :'(
Can't have light without darkness
Helldivers never dive alone!
This game has been a dad to so many players. There are some serious psychological effects that would be exhilarating to study if I could!
Oh yeah. A study of video game benefits alone would be exhilarating
it was like that for me throughout my teens and 20's until transition. now im a girl and helldive for freedom
We dive together or we don't dive !!!
But the truth is our fellow helldivers will never dive ALONE! FOR DEMOCRACY! 🦅❤️
