Don't have time atm, but if you give the link I could rework the mini tomorrow and write up a step by step guide of what I did. There are quite a lot of seemingly random tips concerning colour and decals, body size sliders, pose adjustments and so on that can add to a mini without using pro features or doing double models or hand/tail posing.

NobleMkII

Thank you, and absolutely no rush :) https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D46843125/

GolGuar

The link is broken, mind uploading a new link? Btw, would you be ok if I used your mini rework and turn the tips into a separate reddit post detailing the process?

NobleMkII

Ha Noticed an error last second, but here... https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D46851041/ That should be good now. And again, I have no problem with you making a separate post with the mini.

GolGuar

Here is the link to my update: [https://www.heroforge.com/load\_config%3D518190433/](https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D518190433/) Honestly, the writeup on what I did is taking longer than expected so here is the link, and I hope you like my update. Anyways, you can go trough the settings and compare the before and after, that should give you a good idea of what I did before I post the guide. https://preview.redd.it/xq2pobft4awc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=c8f1a3f9c4165767a5a607aca01db3bd68b41d10

NobleMkII

Oh very cool! I'll definitely need to go in and reverse engineer what you did, but for now, thank you! The hair is a nice touch.

GolGuar

Np, glad you like it!

-SomewhereInBetween-

This is insanely cool!! Would you potentially be willing to do the same with one of my minis? Totally chill if not, but I think seeing someone else's improvements on my ideas would be helpful. I'm mostly trying to work on improving my face customization, posing, and colors/textures right now.

GolGuar

Sure, I can do some touch ups on your mini. Like send me the link and what you had in mind with the mini. Will probably get to it tomorrow or some other day, depends on when I get some free time.

-SomewhereInBetween-

Thanks! And certainly, no rush. Here's the link. [https://www.heroforge.com/load\_config%3D518117392/](https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D518117392/) He's a low level half elf scoundrel-type character, but I'm playing a third party psionic class (MCDM's Talent). Their abilities are subtle, so I'm not looking for any flashy visuals, but trying to capture the idea of this character's personality for the most part. His background is that he's been a thief/conman to survive since he was a teenager in a seaside town, and in young adulthood became a smuggler. I'm playing him for a heist adventure, so somewhat trying to capture the vibe of the smooth operator type, albeit with telepathic abilities lol. I also struggled with this because of the limited hairstyles. I wanted more of a shoulder-length hairstyle but didn't like all the swept back versions. The blue streak is intentional; that and his green eyes are a result of his sea elf ancestry. But please, feel free to make absolutely whatever changes you think would improve on this concept, whenever you get the time. Thanks again!

here ya go :) [https://www.heroforge.com/load\_config%3D518194438/](https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D518194438/) https://preview.redd.it/5qfsylznkgwc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=b1fc8ee5fb3e5ccc2bba90c278f07721e36e5d2c

Wow this is great!! I love the clothing and color changes you've made in particular. I'm definitely going to play around with using horns to change hair, too. That's a trick I've never thought about before. Thanks so much!

montezuma300

I put a link with pose adjustments in another comment. That link should work.

montezuma300

[Here are some pose adjustments](https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D46850065/) For posing, I would say to always adjust the face, head, and eyes. Otherwise, it looks uncanny and stiff. No one looks straight on with their head and eyes. People always turn their head a bit and their eyes aren't looking directly ahead. Generally, if you're looking at something your head turns part of the way and then your eyes turn the rest. Overall, I'd recommend doing the pose yourself and see how you hold yourself. Your minis legs are very spread apart for the neutral pose they are in, for example. See how your hand is when you make the pose. Stuff like that.

NobleMkII

Big difference. Thank you!

Venator_IV

Fantastic advice

punmaster911

I'd experiment around with the outfit. The colors of the powers are spot on already, so I'd try to work the outfit around them, either using contrasting colors like white and red, or peppering in bits of that vibrant cyan color onto a dark outfit. I'd also look into modifying the outfit itself. The pieces you've used are definitely fitting for a low-level character, but there are newer ones that are a bit less clunky looking while maintaining the feel of being lower level.

funnywackydog

I'd maybe play the colours a bit, turning down the fuzz level, and making the metal duller.

Thedrunkenslayer

What does fuzz actually do? I've never been able to find what it changes cause I'm bad at seeing smaller changes in colors.

Venator_IV

Keeps the police away

NobleMkII

Hmm Fuzz? I am unsure what you mean about that unless it's a screenshot quality issue.

NobleMkII

I see it now. Thanks!

DecayedWolf1987

For cloth, I always turn the fuzz down to zero (sometimes leaving the middle slightly above zero), roughness to max, and then turn up the metal. Learned by watching Derf’s videos on YouTube

Horsemanus

Mainly proportions of the body and a more dynamic pose

PhysicalGunMan

Pose his face, he looks stiff

helludairy

Try posing him as if he's playing out a scene that fits the character, for instance pose him as if he's about to cast a spell, and he's preparing it, or about to stab a monster. Another thing you could do to help him stand out pose his face too, make him grimace or smile

Venator_IV

A few horns (the common ones like the short horns, Broad horns, or the longer thin ones that look like a thin lock of hair) positioned to look like bangs, sidelocks, etc, coming out the sides of his hood would go a long way to making this guy look like he has hair. Unless the idea is that he's buzzed/bald which is cool Also I'd put a scabbard on his back and maybe a harness over his torso, unless you used the Over slot for the Gambeson Armor. I forget if Gambeson can be a bottom layer off the top of my head.

Nureinmensch

I quite like the outfit. He looks plausibly like a lvl 1-3 character. I feel like you don't want to overdesign him anyway. I would just adjust the shininess of the chain mail, and tweak the color of the leather, as others have suggested.
