I remembered when I was growing up, this woman just showed at my uncle's village, no ID, kinda pretty, sold herself to a man for 300 USD or so, turned out the person bought her for his midget brother, the woman refused to sleep with him, so the midget family sold her for 350 USD or so, which came with furniture and such. Turned out the second guy couldn't get it up, she got sold again for 250 USD to some older guy who worked for my uncle.
Their marriage was by all accounts a pretty happy one, they moved away after 3 or 4 years.
The theory was the lady was probably on the run from the law.
