Entertainment wise, the live music stops at 11pm... the Crows Nest has a DJ, usually until 1am... unless everyone leaves before that... Holland America isn't known for late night partying...

Seamike79

Does the crows nest have a DJ? I’ve not seen one on a HAL cruise over the past 5-6 years on over a dozen HAL cruises during that time. When was the last time you saw a DJ? — I think Celebrity’a equivalent may have a DJ though.

davidcopafeel33328

Maybe they stopped it on the newer ships, but they've always had at least one late night venue open somewhere on the ship...

Seamike79

Absolutely! My experience is Deck 2 at the music venues! So much fun. The Crow’s Nest tends to be a bit quiet

HAL pretty much rolls up the promenade at midnight other than the casino bar as I’ve heard which might stay open past midnight (casino may close 2am-3am).

Happy_to_be

HAL travelers aren’t usually partiers or late nighters. There may be a few groups that outlast the early to bed, early risers but they are few. Most are quiet book readers enjoying the seas. If that is something you enjoy or want as part of your vacation, another cruise line with younger partiers may be more enjoyable for you.

Found this to be true on our ship as well. There was no casino bar on Zandaam, but the others around it seemed to close up about Midnight-1AM.

jammu2

Depends on the cruise but some ships were deserted at 10 pm back in the day. Maybe the demographic has changed some

National-Golf-4231

Loool. I was walking around at like 3am. Couldn't sleep, due to time zone change. There was like 3 other people I seen after walking around the whole ship. Lol

Did you by chance see the price for cappuccino or orange juice if you’re paying per drink please and thank you

I was on Koningsdam last summer to Alaska. After the band in the Rock Room finished around 11/11:30, the ship was pretty much shut down. One night there was someone (*not* a DJ, same girl who hosted trivia) playing music in BB's until about 12/12:30; this was on the band's night off. Otherwise, the only open bar was in the casino, and that was only open because there were a handful of people playing. By 1:30, the bar was cleaned and ready to close, they were just waiting for the last few gamblers to leave.

luvhoneybees

That’s a ship I’m going on. Would you mind telling me how much drinks are like a glass of wine, bottle of beer and a shot price per each please please and thank you

Jeoffry_Ross

Shots are around $12

luvhoneybees

Ouch that spendy but thank you

Jeoffry_Ross

A double Jamison was around $24 including the auto gratuity for me

luvhoneybees

Wow, that’s a lot. Thank you for replying.

Kennesaw79

I purchased the Have It All package (included drinks, one specialty dinner, wifi, excursion credit, and gratuities), so I didn't pay individually for drinks. [Here's ](https://profcruise.com/holland-america-bar-menus-and-drink-prices-2024/)a page with current prices for drinks at each bar. Remember, each drink, if purchased individually, will automatically charge a 20% gratuity on top.of price shown. Beers are around $7.75, cocktails $11-12, wine $11 and up My guess is a shot is probably $8-12.

luvhoneybees

Wow, $24 thank you

Sad_Procedure_9803

Thanks everyone this is helpful! One more question, do you know if the ship has protein shakes?

WallyAlligator

Table games in the casino were shut down by midnight or 12:30 each night. Very few players after 11 PM.
