I love them and the bead board. I wonder if painting the bead board might help integrate it more into the kitchen and soften the contrast.

For me, a travertine floor is not country/farmhouse at all (and I would NOT be changing that out) so I would do a ton of diy to get the space to work with the floor. So this is what I would do: The light has to go (I had that light and it's gone...you can do it too). Find a light you love. The beadboard is def farmhouse, so that would go too. Remove the 4" backsplash and tile a backsplash (simply tile is inexpensive and you can diy this...my first tile job was a backsplash). The arched cabinet doors are dating the place. You can buy just doors online and they're really not expensive. I would have to think about paint, but as-is, there's too much white. Whatever I chose would be warm to work with the floor. New handles/knobs Bring the cozy in with color and accessories. Modern/contemporary doesn't have to mean sterile and your raised panel cabs won't let you go ultra modern anyway... It's a great, functional kitchen...

Thank you!! Yes, we’re eager to get rid of that light! I’d love pendant lights but we may just have to stick with canned lights. These are great suggestions, thank you so much!

I asked [kitchenGPT.io](http://kitchenGPT.io) to render this kitchen in navy blue theme: https://preview.redd.it/11ump5ou6j8d1.png?width=1152&format=png&auto=webp&s=a584f2b15190bdd2c82fb1943299d76ed5806bea

If you’re into the moody look, consider leaning into the green and painting the cabinets and beadboard a similar shade of green and drench the whole kitchen

Thank you for the suggestion! I do love green - just not hunter green exactly 🤣

We needed a year or so to purchase new countertops due to budget constraints. In the meantime, we used Giani marble countertop paint to hold us over. We got the look. It was temporary and then we updated countertops and backsplash. If you leave the countertops as is, I would change your light and add more natural wood kitchen accessories that match your barstools. The hardware on your pantry is misaligned. Changing out the cabinet doors and doing fresh hardware would be helpful. I agree with the other redditor that the round doors could be updated.

The countertops and floor go together. The white walls, cabinets and backsplash don’t.

Wallpaper it. Peel and stick is not expensive and would add so much charm to this kitchen. You could do it for under $100. https://preview.redd.it/r6tmdlbuul8d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e28da8e28152e3b4d559f3332f9f6a71d28d63c1
