People will bash you for it being an FN2, but don't let that put you off. The FN2 still more than matches a lot of other brands' small hot hatches even coming out today. Milage is high, but if you can find a lower one, then they are a bundle of fun, reliable, and very practical.
You might think it like that but somewhere like Malta with constant traffic you would think agian but yet agian I dont know the true value of the car because the currency is foreign.
lol my fn2 has 158k miles on it original engine no rebuild and runs like a dream, no leaks or strange noises whatsoever. And I don’t think it’s been babied it’s life since it’s modified, I even have the receipts from previous owners for the mods they put on it
lol you clearly don’t know the k20 I have 2 Fn2s one on 198k km and another on 140k km neither skips a beat I have a friend hitting 400k km on his no issues original motor breather mods done car get driven hard so long the maintenance is done and good oil used no issues with these motors and cars
Yeah I did. Are you stupid or something?
Age is not relevant to the price they just said. I said if it was the right spec or mileage, it's worth it. The fact that it's a 1997 and not a say 2019 is irrelevant.
Under-rated car that gets hate from people who have never driven it, because they watched top gear. Owned one for years and enjoyed it so much. It was a sad day seeing it go.
This also looks to be a Championship White edition.
People keep yapping about rear suspension for some reason, but you can fold the rear seats flat, put a large mattress on top and sleep comfortably in your FN2.
bUt MuH mUlTiLiNk
The Mazda community imploded when the current gen MZ3 (you know, an econobox) was announced because of the torsion bar when 95% of those complaining wouldn't know the difference driving one if you told them what to look for
This car's biggest problem is the very firm ride, and putting the power down. Get on the loud pedal too hard, and the inside front wants to spin, the VSC light flashes, and all your forward momentum is just washed away. However, the Championship White edition, which this could be, and all models after 2010, which this is, came fitted with an LSD, which completely cures the front traction issues. And as for the ride, turns out you just kind of get used to having your skeleton pulverised and the seats are comfy as fuck. But people will still take the piss out of you for driving an FN2, so if you're bothered by people telling you the EP3 is better and get tired of saying this one is faster around the Nordschleife, maybe give it a swerve.
To add to the lsd fact, some fn2 were made for the Japanese market. Those, (as usual) all have lsd standard no matter the year or color. I had to jump to the Japanese side of google to find that because nobody knows about it.
Ahhh 👍🏾 that’s definitely not known, very interesting and quite a wonder too. There must’ve been a reason behind this would like to know what’s behind the decision making here 🤔
They seemed to follow the trend of the ep3 where they literally used a more powerful engine and better other bits and pieces for the jdm variants. Not so obvious with the fn2, but it seems like whatever goes to Japan is just better haha
A kid threw up in the driver seat when they smelled the dead snake that had melted into the entire backseat floor. The pool of liquid snake and scales had so many maggots that the carpet was not even visible. Is that reason good enough?
FN2 literally has torsion beam suspension in the rear instead of double wishbone. That is not more comfortable. Not to mention FN2 open diff vs EP3 LSD.
Fn2 2010 has an LSD not open diff, the fn2 has a torsion beam yes but that is not the reason for a slightly harder suspension, not an issue at all i have ridden in both and the difference is negligible, a few mods can sort that out. Again cheaper platform with so much unlocked potential. Its no FD2 thats for sure. Ep3 has hard plastics lower sound insulation and much dated interior.
Yeah, considering [one of the finest handling FWD cars ever built](https://www.hagerty.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Megane-R26R_008-1024x683.jpg) has a torsion beam, wading in talking shit about it isn't quite the instant win people seem to think it is.
Because its british built 😂
I've got the diesel type s gt into idk third years of owning it and I've never driven it never let me down because it dosent run 🤣🤣 more previous owners fault 50k miles on same oil and filters not even topped up because even at 138k it's still using fuck all and compression is bang on factory specs
Pulled the fuel system to do injectors and haven't finished it yet due to funding and buying a mk1 yaris 1.0 which despite both the main brakes blowing out and falling off then half the handbrake falling off is much much better built can redline it and spin it up all day it even offroads and takes jumps.
French built with a Welsh built engine 120k on it still has very visible crosshatching on the cylinders only downside is shitty factory clutch suffers rpm lockout can't ppwershift it or bang it down the gears which is not good when only one caliper works and that has only backing plates left in it.
Both awesome cars but the civics lack in quality imo but if you like it try one out see if it suits you the driving position is great and practically is pretty damn good same cargo space as a small van once you drop them rear seats storage is good aswell love mine but diesel parts are arserapingly expensive.
Oh yeah millage aswell but hondas development is like 90% petrol engines if not higher long as its been serviced that things probably barely broken in infact I don't think I've seen many if any of these with serious engine issues or even bad ones like other than feeling abit cheap they are mechanically incredibly for the most part.
Not a bad car but is what I’d call the most boring CTR, the power delivery ‘felt too smooth’ in comparison to the ep3 and ek4 I’ve got now. Suspension is back breaking in my experience for daily driving
The only complaint I’ve ever heard about a type r anything is they ride like a race car. Which is fun the first day. Not so fun the first week. And by the end of the month you’ve adjusted how to hold your coffee or you hate the car lol
Had one for about a year. Ride was way too stiff and the seats were uncomfortable and too high.
Fun factor is nowhere near my old EP3 sadly.
Otherwise brilliant car, very well put together.
I'm here in the UAE, I wouldn't buy it.. I own accord coupe 9th gen V6 and it would be cheaper to have one than a civic type R with that mileage..
I know they're different cars.. But this car has already been on the streets for 14 years.. Your call in the end
12K FOR A HONDA WITH 120K MILES... YOU WANT 10,000 MILES FOR EVERY $1000 YOU SPEND ON A USED CAR SO I WOULD BET YOU MIGHT GET THAT OUT OF IT. BUT FOR THAT PRICE THERE HAS TO BE BETTER OPTIONS
Reason not:
Great car if you’re a poor teenager. Or an adult who doesn’t want to me taken seriously in social or auto enthusiast circles outside of those for Honda fans.
The suspension...shocks struts and controls arms are all twice past their expected life.
Rear end alignment adjusters may be seized.
... Which wouldn't stop me from buying it. But i fix all that myself. You probably pay retail.
And if I'm at all accurate. It's now, way overpriced
That’s still quite high, regardless the car quality. It’s not just the engine that has been driven for 227k km, but everything else as well. Around this mileage, the bushings, trans axles, shock absorbers, etc.
I found fn2s and ep3s with 300k+ km that was still working, and one of them was with lpg v:
K series engined are really bulletproof - my "normal" k20 has 300k km, and still working fine
a used civic with 227k kms is not worth 45000$.
people will say oh but its a type R, those are rare. theyre only rare because limited production, if they wanted to they couldve pumped these out like every other model. the 2024 type R is only 15k more and comes with 5-10 kms after pdi at a dealer. that being said hondas are junk and should be treated accordingly.
People will bash you for it being an FN2, but don't let that put you off. The FN2 still more than matches a lot of other brands' small hot hatches even coming out today. Milage is high, but if you can find a lower one, then they are a bundle of fun, reliable, and very practical.
227k is fair milage id say
Facts. If it was miles. Idk buddie lol
Actually quite high for the price
I really don’t know what the price is as I’m not familiar with the currency. Just saying the 220k km isn’t really anything to worry about
D3pend on what country uhh, if its constant traffic I wouldn't buy it because at idle its still running.
That’s pretty silly
You might think it like that but somewhere like Malta with constant traffic you would think agian but yet agian I dont know the true value of the car because the currency is foreign.
Not if the engine has not been rebuilt and has been driven hard a lot.
On a k20? Naaaa, unless it's been abused all it's life, you're good. And if it's THAT fucked, you're hear that right away.
lol my fn2 has 158k miles on it original engine no rebuild and runs like a dream, no leaks or strange noises whatsoever. And I don’t think it’s been babied it’s life since it’s modified, I even have the receipts from previous owners for the mods they put on it

Missing ptobably 50hp by now if that thing has done 400K.
lol 😂
My friend has one with a fucking 350k km in it. Going trackdays for years, the engine was never rebuilt, nor even open.
You are negative 5 did you learn a lesson
Happy Cake Day!
‘Bullet’ and ‘proof’ 😑…
I had an 05 RSX type S when I sold it with 414,000kms. It was still solid! Original motor and tranny. I’d say go for it bruv!
As far as style - I’d agree - the current Corolla Hybrid looks a lot like this design.
It's a little expensive for a 14 year old car for my liking but that's the only thing I can think of
Age doesn't equal price lmao
I have a 1997 Honda accord I’d like to sell to you for 32,000$ 😀
If it had 50 miles and was a good spec, could be worth it.
Didn’t you just say that age≠price
Yeah I did. Are you stupid or something? Age is not relevant to the price they just said. I said if it was the right spec or mileage, it's worth it. The fact that it's a 1997 and not a say 2019 is irrelevant.
Not reading that whole paragraph, sorry soyjak
Then don't comment when you don't even know what you are talking about?
Keep crying
Under-rated car that gets hate from people who have never driven it, because they watched top gear. Owned one for years and enjoyed it so much. It was a sad day seeing it go. This also looks to be a Championship White edition.

The thing is though mate, unless you track often most people wouldn’t know the difference 🤣, what to look for or what the difference in feel is…
Perfect for the Middle East

Nah I’d say all Fn2 owners know 2010 up are factory fit. Also, it’s not an expensive mod either…
No no I’m saying all fn2 that are shipped to Japan (even pre 2010) are equipped standard with lsd
Yeah, just strange I thought especially as it eventually became standard albeit 3 years later…
A kid threw up in the driver seat when they smelled the dead snake that had melted into the entire backseat floor. The pool of liquid snake and scales had so many maggots that the carpet was not even visible. Is that reason good enough?
227.000 km's....
because it looks like an egg. Wish I had a typer-r too btw, nice car
I can't
Because it's an egg
227,000 reasons
Do they make those cars for men?
The EP3 is better. Some would say it doesn't matter, but you did specifically ask for reasons to not get it...
The FN2 has a much nicer interior.
Fn2 looks better and is better than an ep3
Some countries only started getting the Type-R at the FN-2 model range. Such as mine.
And more daily drivable, also the FN2 can give the ep3 a run for its money on track with a few mods for much cheaper price tag.
FN2 literally has torsion beam suspension in the rear instead of double wishbone. That is not more comfortable. Not to mention FN2 open diff vs EP3 LSD.

No independent suspension on rear.
Whiteline anti roll bar cures that and the LSD does wonders on 17s
100% man talks truth people always mention that no independent suspension because they don’t know how to fix it crazy

Any interest in the dc5?
Because I'd be jealous, we didn't get these in Canada
Imo too high of a price for too old of a car with too many kilometers.
To many km
Seems like an astronomical amount of money for this
Buy it. Some will say it is a bit on the heavy side but it is a cool car nonetheless
Not a bad car but is what I’d call the most boring CTR, the power delivery ‘felt too smooth’ in comparison to the ep3 and ek4 I’ve got now. Suspension is back breaking in my experience for daily driving
Buy itp
Buy it
I would say your bigger problem is able to make the other guy respond back on dubizzle.
Slowest Type R ever created
The only complaint I’ve ever heard about a type r anything is they ride like a race car. Which is fun the first day. Not so fun the first week. And by the end of the month you’ve adjusted how to hold your coffee or you hate the car lol
you know damn well you should buy it
The odometer, to start.💀💀💀
Ah, that's some seriously high miles. Otherwise, I'm sure a super fun car to drive and own.
Had one for about a year. Ride was way too stiff and the seats were uncomfortable and too high. Fun factor is nowhere near my old EP3 sadly. Otherwise brilliant car, very well put together.
First time I see a FN2 listed for sale tbh. Would love to see these in America competing against fgs lol
If it’s got maintenance records and it’s never been wrecked. Fuck, yeah! Let’s go!
you like it don’t you squidward
it doesnt look like its in bad shape only thing is i wouldnt pay that price for a 9th gen with over 200k km
I see 227,000 reasons to at least question a purchase very carefully ...
I'm here in the UAE, I wouldn't buy it.. I own accord coupe 9th gen V6 and it would be cheaper to have one than a civic type R with that mileage.. I know they're different cars.. But this car has already been on the streets for 14 years.. Your call in the end

If you don’t I will
Beating it whole life
2024 type r in Wisconsin cost 42,000 with no markup
Price is not that far away from what a new one would cost.
To expensive for mileage on car !!!!!
It’s Az Honda, pass!
No
One of my favorite looking civics
It looks ugly
It’s as slow as mold.
The shape of this gen aight desirable
You hate fun
You gotta give me the USA dollar amount
That’s 141051.261 miles
Damn 12000 dollars for that looks like a good deal to me
Way too many kms lmao
Very unattractive car
The suspension...shocks struts and controls arms are all twice past their expected life. Rear end alignment adjusters may be seized. ... Which wouldn't stop me from buying it. But i fix all that myself. You probably pay retail. And if I'm at all accurate. It's now, way overpriced
I'm sorry are you saying that's $45k? It's worth like $10k
It’s 12k USD. The currency is in United Arab Emirates money.
That's fair
That's fair.
🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
227 k miles
That’s kilometers
That’s still quite high, regardless the car quality. It’s not just the engine that has been driven for 227k km, but everything else as well. Around this mileage, the bushings, trans axles, shock absorbers, etc.
45k for 227k km
$12k USD for 141k miles
Because it’s in some weird foreign currency
Aed is united Arab Emirates dirham.. That's not a wierd currency.. Get out of your nutshell and use Google
Murica
I bet you’re fun at parties.
Easy, it's an FN2. One of the shittier CTRs. It's also high mileage imo.
Suggesting that 227k (141,000) miles is too high for a Honda is asinine.
I found fn2s and ep3s with 300k+ km that was still working, and one of them was with lpg v: K series engined are really bulletproof - my "normal" k20 has 300k km, and still working fine
it not really high miles it kilometers 227KM = 141k miles
No. No I will not 😑…
Pass
Not a reason.
