It definitely lives up to the title, incredible movie. Now you have to watch When Evil Lurks if you haven't yet already, same creators, similar themes, and it's also extremely disturbing, but for different reasons.
I’m going to watch Evil Lurks tonight!
I ended up crawling in bed with my sleeping teen aged daughter last night after I ran to go pee… this morning she said “aww mom that’s so cute you wanted to cuddle me last night” 😆
I have literally seen this movie pop up in the queue so many times… I know this sounds lame, because Terrified is a supernatural horror and Terrifier is a slasher gore fest … two different sub genres… but I honestly thought it was a cheap knock off of Terrifier… which I had to turn off… not my vein… So I was thinking it was the scenario where a hit scary movie will come out and then you start seeing cheap knock-offs pop up everywhere…shame on me for being so presumptuous.,.. because… DAMN
I agree now you have to see "when Evil Lurks
also demons 1 an 2 older movies but so dam good and the soundtracks are bangers
Also if you like Terrified I'd totally check out
yummy on shudder it's a dam entertaining flick just the right amount of horror with the perfect amount of comedy to lighten the mood before it goes dark again

This was a surprise when I watched it. The poster really caught my interest. I think it has had a big influence. I felt that the recent SMILE took some cues from it, but could simply be coincidental.
Mike Flanagan's first feature ABSENTIA and his second OCULUS are good companion films to watch in a similar vein.
So the gore in Terrified is a bit more than the icky scenes and blood from wounds…but if you can manage to just turn your head when it’s uncomfortable… because those shots do linger… you’ll likely be glad you watched the movie
I’m like this too… I don’t mind gore as long as it is an accessory to the movie and not the main feature! Like it needs to complement the story line..and not BE the story line.
really, really looking forward to the sequel once the director gets around to it, the screenplay, script is done, it picks up right exactly where the first movie leaves off and he said it takes the first movie and kicks things up a notch
can't freaking wait
I'd love to hear it's filming or something
I can’t remember the last time I felt scared from a movie… like that supernatural scared that comes from a movie like this… not the slasher movie scared or the body horror terror … I’m talking like that .. palpable, demon-under-the-bed scared!! I felt like I was ten and had just watched the Exorcist for the first time! I can’t wait to watch Evil Lurks
Yes for what I guess you could call demons, they call them interdimensional beings but basically killer demons and yes there's a lot of gore, including long shots on dead bodies
I would say the gore is a complement to the story line … it’s not over the top at all… and I’m sensitive to that sorta thing… as far as demons… there isn’t a definitive satanic element to this movie at all …have you seen “It follows” if you can handle those pesky guys… you’ll be alright with these evil buggers… definitely scarier but in an awesome way.
It follows is one of my faves… but a different experience than Terrified… “it follows” gave me this lingering feeling of uneasiness bordering on dread… but that feeling ended as soon as the movie did…Terrified was a full on hand-over-mouth scared that lasts well after the movie is over
Wasn't scared that much but I liked this movie, I was a bit confused by the end and thought it lacked some sense. But overall great movie.
A few movies that actually scared me :
Martyrs really shook me when I watched it. Dabbe 5 really creeped in on me, similar feeling to when I watched horror movies as a kid and got scared. And I was scared by hereditary the first time I watched it.
I’m going to check those out… I have seen Hereditary though… great movie that I won’t watch again, I didn’t find it scary at all but I did find it disturbing… I’m glad I watched it but I won’t do it again…
This was one of my replies to a comment above and I’ve copied it for you to give you an idea about the Terrified experience…

I get so happy when people get scared of this movie. I saw the premier in a horror film festival in Uruguay, no one expected anything from it and it ended up being the only movie that got people actually screaming from fear.
Demián Rugna is a beast in the genre
First of all, big fan of your work, Agent Scully. Second of all, heck yeah *Terrified* rules. *When Evil Lurks*, director Demian Rugna's follow-up, is even GNARLIER, imo. It's currently streaming on Shudder, AMC+, and Hulu, if you're interested.
Thanks! Nice to find a fan of my work 😊
I’m so excited to watch Evil Lurks! I thought for sure this movie HAD to be a one off because it was so good … I’m so glad there’s more from this creator/director!!
I had a similar experience, and I frequently watch media with subtitles. I think the subtitles are not very accurate for this movie. I won't claim to be fluent in Spanish, but I studied it for 10 years and grew up in a place with a lot of Spanish speakers. Even with that knowledge to fill in the blanks, I wasn't able to follow along very well. I think the first 20 minutes of this movie were the strongest, and it started to fall apart after that, not really offering much new in the supernatural realm. The beginning was indeed very creepy, though.
Good to hear! I've seen people refuse to watch anything subbed, & was how I interpreted your first comment... and maybe have been why you were downvoted
Couldn't say. Could be the dismissive nature of how you said it, if I had to guess. The horror remains shocking and fresh all the same, regardless of language.

Why the hell was this downvoted lol … was it because I still snuggle with my kid?!…ok Reddit 🤦♀️
I keep telling people to watch this.

I was curious about Oculus when it came out. Not good with gore or cannibalism but enjoy tension. Is it like that?
Right Not gory but a few icky scenes and blood from wounds.

There’s an ode to it in satanic hispanics too, if you haven’t seen that anthology yet
What year
2017
Can’t find it. Is it Argentinian one ?
Yes that’s it…
I’m only about ten minutes into this. Holy crap!
Ikr!!!
Does it have demons or super graphic gore? Those are my two hard limits. Demons terrify me man.
Yes for what I guess you could call demons, they call them interdimensional beings but basically killer demons and yes there's a lot of gore, including long shots on dead bodies
Thank you so much for this. I rely so heavily on the kind people of this sub to help me not scare the shit out of myself.
You're very welcome :)

I have seen that and wasn’t bothered by those guys at all! I’ll watch the trailer for it and see how it sits.
It follows is one of my faves… but a different experience than Terrified… “it follows” gave me this lingering feeling of uneasiness bordering on dread… but that feeling ended as soon as the movie did…Terrified was a full on hand-over-mouth scared that lasts well after the movie is over
No.
Apparently they are making an English language remake
Veronica is cool too!
Idk man...I watched that movie about 5 times already, and it's not that great nor even remotely scary.
Why… why did you watch it 5 times then lol
Cause I date women that like horror, so I have to rewatch movies I've already seen that they recommend when they come over.
I think the universe is trying to give you a sign bro 🤣🤣🤣
I've been meaning to watch this. Thanks for the reminder. Is it on Shudder?
Yes it is on Shudder
Can someone tell me where I can watch this movie?
I rented it for $2.99 Canadian on Amazon prime, it’s also Shudder

Your description of the movie sold me on it. This'll be my next horror movie!
I came across this move randomly and it was AMAZINGGGGGGGGG
That kid at the kitchen table!!!
What the hell… I. Know. Right.
Definitely interested in what Terrified is all about.

SHUT THE DOOR. Watching it later tonight. Where did you see it?
I rented it off my Amazon Prime streaming for $2.99 Canadian.
It's on Shudder
Ooh, this looks good! I felt stunned after watching Where Evil Lurks, so watching this tonite!
…and I’m watching Evil Lurks tonight! Can’t wait!

Someone needs to give this guy a boatload of cash so he can keep making fantastic movies. I need to know more about these folks and their gadgets!
I had no idea who Demian Rugna was until this movie… now I just want to devour all his work!

Thanks to this post, I just watched this movie yesterday. It was pretty scary and very interesting. I liked it a lot.
Yes , the scariest to date in my opinion, chills down my spine.
That kid sitting at the table was so unnerving
Hurrraaay my list helped! ☺️
I’m gonna watch it right now !
That movie is fucking scary as fuck, for real, I loved it.
The movie was bad, I had no idea what was going on for the entire movie.
Try turning the subtitles on

I didn't down vote you but TBH I had to watch this movie twice in order to appreciate it. The second time around was the ticket!

I mean, that's your loss, I guess.

I didn't downvote, but you're missing out on some amazing films if you pass on everything that's not in English. Subtitles exist for a reason
