I know this post is supposed to be sad and all, after Daemon had her son brutally murdered when she was so innocent… but it’s also kinda funny too
She was so unaware of the brewing tensions that she started clapping for one of the strongest (truthful) insults Aemond could throw, like a sitcom when the clueless character breaks into applause at the worst possible time 😂
>She was so unaware of the brewing tensions that she started clapping for one of the **strongest** (truthful) insults Aemond could throw,
That is a vile accusation! Cut out your tongue!
Definitely. Aegon actually really didn't want to be King in the book and only accepted it after Criston convinced him that Rhaenyra would kill his children. That was what changed his mind. Power corrupts, especially when it's so fragile.
well so far in the show this is kind of unclear. they suspect Rhaenyra had a hand in it but know it could have been someone else, then they learn from Blood that Daemon ordered the hit specifically but choose to blame the plot on Rhaenyra regardless of if she actually signed off on it, for reasons the show explains. Aemond at least knows or has an inclin that Daemon was operating independently but kind of like Otto says at least publicly it doesn’t really matter who specifically ordered the assassination so long as they can blame it on Rhaenyra and bolster their public perception. They know they have enemies all around them either way though and I think while it would’ve mattered to find out who exactly was involved for security and intelligence reasons they know that the Blacks aren’t their friends, be on high alert with everyone and boost security.
And this is what pissed me off so much about people thinking (for like 45 seconds) “oh she must’ve given up the daughter because she wouldn’t give up the HEIR!!!!”
She’s a *mother* first, and has never shown any interest in the ambitions of her house.
It was an impossible choice. It would destroy her *equally* to have either child killed. One doesn’t have more or less value (to her) than the other.
So she might as well tell the truth. It could’ve been just that simple with Helaena.
(Part of me *is* waiting for Aegon to ask her- later down the line- why she gave up their boy instead of their girl)
this is true though. visions aren’t always clear and you may get bits and pieces of information that you don’t know how to connect, how to decipher or what the relevancy is, cause you’re not telling the information to yourself. it’s basically beamed into your head so allot of times not only does the above apply, you may want to write it all off for fear or confusion.

>and no one around her is nice.
If she married Jacaerys as Rhaenyra suggested then the whole thing could have been avoided and I'd say she'd be happier.
Honestly, Vizzy should have made RhyRhy married Aegon. She could have waited till was of age, molded him into a drunk fuck boi, and bonked Daemon on the side and had his babies. Then tossed Aegon off a cliff.
The one problem with betrothing Rhaenyra and Aegon is that they'd need to wait like, *minimum* 12 years before they could even consider producing heirs, putting her at ~30ish before she can even start trying. With medieval healthcare and a very vulnerable line of succession, that is a *lot* of risk to be carrying.
Every relationship Rhaenyra has is centred on love: leaner, Darwin, daemon, her children, her stepchildren/nieces. She pulls love and sends it out.
What Aegon needed the most growing up, was love. I feel like their relationship would have been more parent and child, than romantic, but Rhaenyra is exactly what aegon needed most in his life, and he would have grown into a better person because of it.
Anyones love, actually. If anyone of the greens had just bothered to love anyone else, they would all be different people.
I would say Jace was nice. If the two of them got married and ascended the throne, they would have been an excellent couple. Reasonably competent, dutiful and moral.
But no, Alicent ruined it.
I reckon 1 more season before they reveal that Helaena is actually the mastermind pulling the strings behind the whole Dance.
It's Darth Jar-Jar all over again.
Well at least 3 are hiring JJ abrams to set shit up knowing he can't EVER pay anything off, hiring a guy to shit on every major foreshadowing in the previous film, then REHIRE JJ abrams to CTRL Z THAT film.
They were in trouble so damn early and they just kept making it worse
Its interesting to see how characters react to Helaena in that whole dinner scene; Jace inviting her to dance after being teased by Aegon, Otto congratulating her on her speech...
The dinner scene is my favorite in the show this far next to Rhaenyra walking to Alicent's room after having Joffrey in S1 E6. It's almost like they're a normal family...
He loves ONE of his grandchildren, at least. Helaena's the only one towards whom he's shown any indication of fondness. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a relief to him that she's not a "player" but she's not an idiot either. Unlike the incompetent Aegon or the ambitious Aemond, she's not someone he needs to "handle", because she just does what's required of her without needing her hand held or her ego massaged or any of that. So he doesn't have to be "on" around her, and can just be a person. For Otto, I'd wager spending time with Helaena feels like a relaxing vacation from work.
"Hey, Helaena, what's up?"
"Not much, grandfather, just doing some needlepoint."
"Not secretly plotting in a personal political scheme that undermines everything we're doing, or throwing a petulant tantrum that results in chaos?"
"No, I'm stitching a bug pattern into this quilt. Did you know that if you wove a thread of spider's silk to a diameter of an inch, you could suspend an entire sailing ship from it?"
"I did not!"
"Do you want to hear some more bug facts?"
"I... yes."
Yup. Seems by his words last episode to Alicent that maybe he’s taken an interest previously in Daeron maybe too, or at least he finds him more open to suggestion & guidance.
This is actually really sweet and one of the only things that can truly humanise him in my eyes - he does seem fonder of his female children even when he is forcing them into horrible situations
I mean, he loves his daughter but he literally pumped her out and basically forced her to marry his boss, then as she gets older instead of allowing her to step into more power, he undermines her every chance he gets in favor of pumping up the ego of his very obviously psychotic grandsons. Then when he sees his daughter desperately in need to talk out her issues he shuts her down and flat out tells her he doesn’t want to hear about it and to just bury whatever it is deep down…because his watching her do that for the past decade or so with such success (/s) gives him every reason to be confident that burying issues so big that she actually is going to him about them is going to lead to peaceful success!
Otto is a complete POS. He loves power, or a desire for power more than he loves his daughter or grandkids. His grandsons are psychopaths, but they literally have screws loose in their brain-prob from all of the inbreeding. Otto doesn’t have the excuse of mental illness. He’s just an asshole who is so hungry for power he has zero issue with destroying any chance of happiness, a peaceful life, and love in the lives of his family members if there’s even the smallest chance that sacrificing everything good could result in some more power. It’s kind of ironic bc afaik he loved his wife deeply. Idk if his mentality is just selfish, I lost the love of my life so fuck everyone else-why should they get to be happy if I can’t. Or maybe I’m misremembering and it wasn’t a love match and he just doesn’t understand how taking away love from Alicent’s life (instead of a chance of romantic love he forces her to marry his boss who has leprosy when she was like 13 or so…and he put a wedge in the relationship she cherished the most, Alicent loved Rhaenyra the most out of everyone in her life and Rhaenyra loved Alicent the most) literally was the catalyst for all of the fighting, the children being killed, and the inevitable war. Fuck Otto, these people all need some love-the entire realm would be a much more peaceful place if those at the top just had a loving relationship or two-platonic or romantic, doesn’t even matter-and it’s all Otto’s fault why there isn’t any love or happiness.
I cannot tell you how much I'd love it if the show just threw the source material aside and did that. I'd watch the shit out of a "Helaena and Dog" show 😂
Imagine no one ever talking to her about anything. Alicent is telling the boys “we’re in danger, we all gonna die!” And then to Helaena is all, “what a pretty spider you have, here’s some thread I guess.” She had no idea there was a feud or bad feelings or anything. She’s like, “something bad is going to happen, ma, I feel it.” And they pat her on the head and make her sit in a nursery. Because she’s not uh, you know. She has intelligence. They just don’t tell her anything. Maybe?
My wife and I are rewatching the show and just saw that scene again.
As a show only watcher, she just came up with a brilliant idea to avoid the war which is actually a massive book spoiler >!marry Daemon and Rhaenyra’s son to Aegon and Helaena’s daughter.!< It’s funny how she doesn’t know how it’s going to end, but just came up with the endgame.
This is part of the plot- she’s a seer. She saw the resolution. It’s also why when it came down to pointing out her son, she did it knowing that her daughter would have more value in the end BECAUSE rhaenyra has sons. She saved her daughter to save the lineage.
No it won’t save her but she’s aware of that and it’s sad but that’s just her draw. The best she can do is play her cards right which is what she is doing. She saved the more valuable child and she has emotionally detached from the outcomes of people she knows must be sacrificed for the greater outcomes. In that, she’s a far better ruler than both her mother and brusband. Even her balking at having poor folk throw gold flakes on a dead child’s body because she knows what consequences that will create.
It's all relative, really; literally everyone dies. The "wicked" characters die gruesomely too. Plus it's Westeros and I think the books even mention a statistic like 1 in 5 women die in childbirth. The state of their medicine sucks; Viserys was king and the only thing his maesters could think of for him was "leeches, maybe?". He died at 55 or something, looking like the Crypt Keeper, and that's *still* one of the better deaths in this universe, because he was surrounded by family who all managed to get along long enough for him to feel at peace. When [this](https://static1.colliderimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/house-of-the-dragon-paddy-considine-1.jpg) is one of the best deaths a character can get in this universe, you have to temper your expectations.
Aemond, the master of Castleblack in GoT who dies of old age. It was the most peaceful death on screen. But he also had to freeze his ass off in the North for decades before, so....
I’m 100% team black but I wish Helaena would be spared in all of this; she’s truly the only innocent one on both sides. And she’s already been traumatized from blood&cheese.
As a neurodivergent, I know I would do the same, takes a while to understand insults and most of the time they pass through, it's a superpower to not be bothered or affected at times hahahaha🤣
Idk if it’s because that English is not my first language or I’m just dumb but I also didn’t get that Aemond was insulting them while watching, I realized it a bit later 😭
Her actress does a fantastic job portraying her. It’s clear Helaena is neurodivergent and acting in such a way with taste can be difficult, but it’s a great rendition
I had to rewatch the first season since it was a while ago, and I'd forgotten a lot of side characters. Upon watching it again, I adore Helaena. I also haven't read the books, but I suspect she has some sort of power or heightened intuition, I'm not sure. When the dragon appears during Aegon's ceremony, she looks excited to see such a beast, another moment I got a kick out of. Upon a rewatch, I genuinely enjoy the innocence of her character
I know it's nothing but a headcanon dream, but how amazing would it be if Rhaenrya could take in Halaena and Jahaera, and then they'd all live happily after. 😭
Is there a way to watch GOT or HOD and remove all the soft core porn? I know it cuts run time down by like 50% but I want to enjoy the movies without useless horny baiting.

She’s too innocent🥹
Ya, I feel the most sympathy for her, more than any of the other characters.
Because no matter which side you favor, she is innocent
i just want to hug her and protect her from the world ;_;

Just makes me want to hug her more
It’s very Cat from Victorious
>She was so unaware of the brewing tensions that she started clapping for one of the **strongest** (truthful) insults Aemond could throw, That is a vile accusation! Cut out your tongue!
She didn’t know about the family tension until very very recently.
Even then she doesn't want to be involved. "What if he doesn't want to be King" was very telling
I find it ironic that she says this, because it seems like before he got drunk off the power and adoration - Aegon did want to be king either.
Definitely. Aegon actually really didn't want to be King in the book and only accepted it after Criston convinced him that Rhaenyra would kill his children. That was what changed his mind. Power corrupts, especially when it's so fragile.
And now he thinks Rhaenyra killed his child.

Aegon begged Aemond to let him run away rather than be king
And this is what pissed me off so much about people thinking (for like 45 seconds) “oh she must’ve given up the daughter because she wouldn’t give up the HEIR!!!!” She’s a *mother* first, and has never shown any interest in the ambitions of her house. It’s because they are trying to code her as autistic and there is a stereotype that autistic people cannot/do not lie (which isn’t true).
I thought this was another one of her prophecies. Like she knows he won’t be king on some level but can’t imagine his death being the reason.
"What if he ded?"
This means that a career in the Night's Watch or service as a Maester opens up before him.
She would've been like me back in high school: keeping the earbuds on while inside my bedroom or at the neighborhood park on weekends
Did something happen? 😋
"yo wtf someone killed my son..hmmmmm..."
Isn't that a bit weird though? How can someone be so out of the loop while getting glimpses into the future
Just because you see the future, it doesn’t mean you know what you’re seeing or what it means.
this is true though. visions aren’t always clear and you may get bits and pieces of information that you don’t know how to connect, how to decipher or what the relevancy is, cause you’re not telling the information to yourself. it’s basically beamed into your head so allot of times not only does the above apply, you may want to write it all off for fear or confusion.

It’s not even that she’s innocent. She’s just fucking NICE. she’s a NICE person, and no one around her is nice.
SHE IS A PRECIOUS ANGEL BABY WHO DESERVES NONE OF THIS Sorry, I just love her so.
Same. I like my little autistic dreamer girl, regardless of plot and book lore. I wish we got MORE of her, especially before blood and cheese.
Wish we’d gotten to see her with Dreamfyre before! Even seeing them together after would be better than nothing…
Yes I really wish they would show us that! Not sure why they haven't, but I guess financially limits or something.
Nobody in kings landing is nice because they sent Daeron away!!!

Honestly, given how Aegon and Aemond turned out? Probably one of the better things they could have done for Daeron.
reminds me of lollys stokeworth, who also got traumatized because she was caught in the middle of other people’s conflict. especially in the books.
>and no one around her is nice. If she married Jacaerys as Rhaenyra suggested then the whole thing could have been avoided and I'd say she'd be happier.

She’s like, “something bad is going to happen, ma, I feel it.” And they pat her on the head and make her sit in a nursery. Because she’s not uh, you know. She has intelligence. They just don’t tell her anything. Maybe?
She's our autistic lil queenie <3
My poor autistic girl is too pure for this garbage world
Why do people call her autistic?
I feel sort of bad because I then told her she was right. But knowing the end won’t save her from how everyone else dies.
Not the brusband
I'm gonna be distraught as fuck if Helaena dies

character's who are just nice don't survive; Shireeen, Meissendei, 2/3 reds of Cersi's children, Danny's dothraki handmaid.

Dunk & Egg survive a good long while 🥰
Until well, you know what happens to them
I’m still traumatized by the events of that night.
I’m 100% team black but I wish Helaena would be spared in all of this; she’s truly the only innocent one on both sides. And she’s already been traumatized from blood&cheese.
It's 2 centuries prior to "present day" Westeros. Everyone is already dead. The only question is HOW they die.

Sorry is it not common sense that I'm talking about her dying next week or quietly in her sleep at 80? Thought that was obvious
That dude is trying really hard not to give you spoilers lol
Sometimes you can just not comment too
You could stop asking questions you don't want answered
>!But that would make putting text behind this tag not as fun!<
Dude doesnt want to know whose head is in the box, but he keeps peeking at it.
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH
It should be peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving children
Someone needs to transport Helaena to Arda, she does NOT deserve to be in the shithole that is Westeros.
One of the few truly good people on the show.
She's just happy everyone is finally getting along lol
The best of both houses getting treated the worst
As a neurodivergent, I know I would do the same, takes a while to understand insults and most of the time they pass through, it's a superpower to not be bothered or affected at times hahahaha🤣
She's Addddorable.
Screw it, Helaena 2024
I swear to God if only ONE more thing happens to her pure soul I'm gonna fucking riot.
Oh...umm....
Don't
Well....
DON'T
We don’t deserve her 😭
Bless her heart.
sweetest of them all
I just want to give her a hug.
Same
She’s pure
🥺🤏🏼
What does this represent
she is a pookie
Oh you mean in an "you're so adorable I just wanna pinch your widdle cheek" kinda way? That makes sense.
I love her SOOOOO much 😭
Gods bless Helaena, the purest soul in the history of the Seven Kingdoms 🥺
She’s literally an Angel, she doesn’t deserve what she’s going through
Helaena is one of the very few absolute innocent characters in this show.
Plot twist she is supporting Aemond's little shit shenanigans
Lol imagine if she pushes Aemond to burn the Riverlands
Insult? It’’twas only a compliment. Do you not think them strong?
Indeed they are very strong, it's in their dna
She's either autistic, idiot savant, mentally handicapped, or has been driven insane for being a seer. She's likely the kindest person on the show.
Still more personality than Bran the Boring
Yeah, Bran was a weak character it terms of being interesting.
"Why do you think I came all this way?" Uhh, not sure bro your motives were really unclear for most of the series.
She only seems strange by association, because she's literally the only character in the show not interested in power.
Strange = Not a cunt
Her habit of saying prophetic lines that seem like nonsense is also strange.
Aemond wasn’t insulting his nephews*. He was complimenting them. [+]
His nephews (i think, who knows how it works with the incestagaryen here)
yeah, it's his nephews since he is their uncle.
Awww awesome
Bless her
If you haven’t picked up that she’s “autistic” yet idk what to tell you
Innocent girl of her own dreams
I think shes just incredibly drunk off her rocker for the entirety of that dinner as evidenced by her toast lmao
Protect her at all costs
They could never make me hate you 🫶🏼🦋
Helaena was drunkkkkk 😂
She is honestly so sweet.
Awww sweet Helaena 🥹
she’s so cute i’m crying 😭
I love her so much 🥺
She's an innocent soul born into the wrong family
Some of her mutterings in S1 were premonitions. She mentions that Aemond will need to lose an eye or something like that when she was a girl.
She is way to sweet and innocent for that entire world…I just wanna hug her and protect her from everyone around her
I'm sure Helaena is on the spectrum. Still adorable tho
I’m pretty sure she’s supposed to be on the spectrum and kinda like a savant with her clairvoyant sayings
That’s hilarious lmfao
Idk if it’s because that English is not my first language or I’m just dumb but I also didn’t get that Aemond was insulting them while watching, I realized it a bit later 😭
Lmaoo so what was your reaction when they started fighting after the compliment😭 I’m imagining you trying to figure out wtf happened
Bless her heart
I wish they would show her riding a dragon.
casually she's the rider of Dreamfyre, yea such a menace and that all but, who cares... CUTE AUTISTIC QUEEN!!!!!!
She is so pure and nice that she managed to stay nice and pure while being surrounded by evil cunts.
sweet sister Helaena
Protect her at all cost.
she deserves so much better!
Her actress does a fantastic job portraying her. It’s clear Helaena is neurodivergent and acting in such a way with taste can be difficult, but it’s a great rendition
Seems like Aemond is a whole different person towards helaena.
She’s a precious little cinnamon bun and we all know Otto loves her the most
I love her lol. She’s just an icon.
One of the most tragic characters in the whole GOT universe.
As an autistic person, finding out that Helaena is on the spectrum immediately made me a Green.

Wasn’t she a little drunk during that scene also?
Is there a way to watch GOT or HOD and remove all the soft core porn? I know it cuts run time down by like 50% but I want to enjoy the movies without useless horny baiting.
She neurodivergent. I’m pretty sure she’s autistic. She’s not good with social cues, and gets over stimulated or confused.
