Same. I’m a little worried the show will suffer in the absence of Rhys Ifans.
He was *momentarily* sidelined between the opening of s01e05 and opening of s01e07, but the actor playing Lyonel Stronk brought a lot of charisma to his short-lived substitute role.
I’m worried the show will simply rely on Crispin to carry the scenes that Otto was dominating because his actor is nowhere near Ifans’ level.
his turn of the head when Aegon tells him that ser Criston Cole has acted gave me shivers. and then that little laugh when Aegon says his father made him king. "is that what you think" man so good
I will say though... Episode one when Criston looks at her and is like "There is no absolution for what I've done..."
I was like *damnnn* and that might be the only time Criston's ever had a line that drew that out of me
Anyone have any suggestions what kind of foods to make for a watch party? Im going to make some green-colored and black cocktails and nachos to snack on, but feel like im missing something still!
I'm not personally attracted to Emma D'Arcy as their style is quite a bit far from what I like (I'm a straight cis guy). But I won't deny that they're an outstanding person and actor, and their portrayal of Rhaenyra is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous.
Based off how I've seen Emma in interviews, they seem like one cool motherfucker.
But yeah, Rhaenyra is beautiful. But even more to that she's got such a strong sense of morality, integrity and fortitude when the entire world is crumbling around her. I admire her greatly.
There is actually a Game of Thrones themed cook book! I've tried some of it and it's pretty nice

Where I live we have black coloured licorice liqueur. 32%, but goes down petty easy. Maybe other parts of the world has similar stuff?
[Hot n' Sweet](https://ibb.co/PxHSLM6)
Maybe avocado on burnt toast for the greens since that’s what I think they eat. Then some black olive tapenade on perfectly toasted bread for the blacks?
I cannot fucking wait until Criston dies. I genuinely cannot stand him and want to kick the shit out of my TV *every single time* he's on it lol.
That's all I wanted to say.
Fabien Frankel is *very* good. He's in the same tier as Jack Gleeson, except I hate Criston more than I ever hated Joffrey which is hilarious to me because, and I cannot stress this enough, I fucking *hated* Joffrey.
How do you achieve that? lol
I'd say Daemon, he was known as "Lord Flea Bottom" after all. Though Mysaria probably knows some good places too.
Both of them know where to find some good Cheese, that's for sure.
While we're waiting.. I have a question about S1 episode 9. When they were looking for Aegon, the twins told him Otto was waiting for him outside the city walls? What was Otto's plan?
Anyone else notice there's no more false promises/carrot dangling plot points in HoTD compared to GoT? The buzz and mystery of a shadowy character making an appearance was one of the things that made GoT so exciting for better or for worse.
The carrot for HOTD is the tragedy of it. People are going to die. And it could've been avoided, if not for these people making these choices.
Ifan was correct on Twitter. Let's see who and how they die.
Now that Otto's gone, we're gonna see Aegon throw common sense to the wind entirely and wage a full-on war. Rhaenys really should have lit the whole bunch of them on fire, scandalous as it might have been.
>Rhaenys really should have lit the whole bunch of them on fire, scandalous as it might have been.
Most brain-dead scene I have ever had to endure for more than two minutes, whoever came up with it should have been retired from writing for eternity.
Cannibal's age estimate varies a LOT. Some say it's as old as Vhagar, some say it was in Westeros before the doom of Valyria, some say it's a child of Vhagar or Meraxes. All we know is that mfer is old.
Guys come on! More predictions please! :D
I'm guessing this episode we'll see Daemon at Harrenhal (or wherever it was he was talking about going in Rhaenyra's name) to threaten/scare them into submission, but I don't think we'll see the outcome. I'm betting we won't see Daemon again until the blacks have had word of the greens going for Harrenhall (i'm guessing this episode, again we won't see the outcome), and there's a lot of suspense as we question who they will support.
Aegon is clearly unravelling at this point, and once he hears that Arryk was unsuccessful, he will make some reckless, impulsive battle plans, likely either involving Vhagar and/or sunfire. I'm guessing he won't go out and start fighting himself just yet, as Crispy and others will still be warning him not to put his own safety on the line. I forsee Alicent still pushing for a slower, more diplomatic approach, though she'll of course be a bit less reluctant now. I don't think she blames Rhaenyra/knows it wasn't her. I don't think we'll see any actual battles playing out yet, but there will definitely be some intense planning on both sides, and I expect to see moondancer in the air monitoring kings landing. I'm betting either they will get spotted and hurt early on (maybe even this episode), forcing them to retreat or maybe worse...
I think we'll see Rhaenyra talking to Mysaria again, possibly offering her a position as thanks. A kind of girl-power move that they both take pleasure in as they've both been underestimated and challenged by the men in their lives. She likely has some valuable information yet that will help down the line when it comes to battle, though I don't think Daemon will be happy to see her when he eventually returns in a later episode! I'm betting we won't see Daemon again until the blacks have had word of the greens going for Harrenhall, and there's a lot of suspense as we question whether or not Daemon managed to gain their support.
I'm also guessing that this episode we'll see the small folk in kings landing starting to really hurt and lose their patience. I'm expecting to see more of the blockade and the impacts it's having/desperate small-folk from Kings Landing. Perhaps we'll even see the black smith planning on leaving and considering going to dragonstone to beg for help in exchange for his service. The small folk will start to turn on the greens in favour of Rhaenyra, because of their financial hardships and suffering.
That's all i've got :)
Omg, I'd love to see bad things start happening to him! The actor is gorgeous but the character is such a douchebag!! I hope Rhaenyra gets him eventually...
I get that it was somewhat important to show Alicent and Cole's sexual relationship, especially in light of recent events, but I think we are okay now and we get it the dynamic. I want to see new stuff from both of their characters.
What if it’s not Seasmoke that Addam is seeing and instead Grey Ghost? Could be an easy explanation for Laenor’s absence, and how are historians going to tell two grey dragons apart?
I don’t recall a massive size difference between the two, and it’s not like it *needs* to be Seasmoke, righy? I guess that could imply other things but we shall see.
Emma D’Arcy’s acting in that final scene is ELITE. The subtle realistic delay of realization when Alicent said “the prince who was promised” was so good.
Then in the final shot she’s able to convey a multitude of emotions in mere seconds. Relief that her father never switched up on her claim to the throne, anxiety that she can’t stop the war that’s about to come & then finally STRENGTH/CONFIDENCE that she is THE REAL QUEEN with no objections. Amazing display of acting Emma. You bodied that!
Streaming services like Disney+ drop their new shows at midnight est/9pmPst or 3am Est/midnight Pst because when they say 'new episode out Thursday' they mean the very first minute of that day.
Whereas HBO takes a more traditional approach.

I hope we still see some more Otto even if he's leaving King's Landing now... big highlight of the show for me
Same. I’m a little worried the show will suffer in the absence of Rhys Ifans. his turn of the head when Aegon tells him that ser Criston Cole has acted gave me shivers. and then that little laugh when Aegon says his father made him king. "is that what you think" man so good
Please no more Alicole scenes
Rumors say Cole will go deep inside the hightower
Just please... no more Hand of The King on Alicent
in Alicent*
On and in*
In, on, and under***
He's all over her.😄
she’s giving him that hawk tuah
I don't know, maybe if they just try it again. 7 full minutes, uncut. That should do it.
Show all of it
All the hits. All the big ones.
I will say though... Episode one when Criston looks at her and is like "There is no absolution for what I've done..." I was like *damnnn* and that might be the only time Criston's ever had a line that drew that out of me
It’s the sort of line that makes you think he might change. But not my guy Criston, no change for him
Hand in the Queen
Anyone have any suggestions what kind of foods to make for a watch party? Im going to make some green-colored and black cocktails and nachos to snack on, but feel like im missing something still!
Hot wings? Because, you know, dragons have wings. And everyone on the show is hot.
And OP could make like soy based wings or dark wings and then also green coloured ones, Thai curry.
I wouldn’t go that far. It’s not like GOT with certified tens everywhere. Where’s the ygrittes, xersei, Margaerys? All we really got is helaena …
You don't think Olivia Cooke and Emma Darcy are hot?
I'm not personally attracted to Emma D'Arcy as their style is quite a bit far from what I like (I'm a straight cis guy). But I won't deny that they're an outstanding person and actor, and their portrayal of Rhaenyra is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous.
Only as Rhaenyra tbh
Based off how I've seen Emma in interviews, they seem like one cool motherfucker. But yeah, Rhaenyra is beautiful. But even more to that she's got such a strong sense of morality, integrity and fortitude when the entire world is crumbling around her. I admire her greatly.
They’re okay. Not like ygritte or margaery
I love Ygritte. Redheads are my weakness.
Aye
All we got is Helaena?? Emma Darcy is one of the most stunning people I’ve ever seen on and off screen.
Gonna agree to disagree there
I have a crush on Olivia Cooke

I have had it for years and tried out a lot of the recipes. The Dornish duck has become a classic for our Christmas meal.
Black Forrest gateaux, Thai green curry, green fried tomatoes, blackened chicken
Ooooh Malibu, melon liquor and pineapple juice. Pretty delish and green. As for black cocktails… idk just do shots of fernet. Go big or go home
Where I live we have black coloured licorice liqueur. 32%, but goes down petty easy. Maybe other parts of the world has similar stuff? [Hot n' Sweet](https://ibb.co/PxHSLM6)
Back during the height of GoT a lot of watch parties just went for me midieval foods like stuff you’d see at a Ren Faire
Spicy noodles in honour of our boy Caraxes.😋🍲
Maybe avocado on burnt toast for the greens since that’s what I think they eat. Then some black olive tapenade on perfectly toasted bread for the blacks?
Is it recommended to smoke crack before or *after* the show?
After
Yes
first watch after, then rewatch it after that
Magic Mushrooms. I watched Evangelion on that. Opened my mind.
I cannot fucking wait until Criston dies. I genuinely cannot stand him and want to kick the shit out of my TV *every single time* he's on it lol. That's all I wanted to say.
Glad someone said it. Is it the actor?

Because Sir Crispy Creme was something Joffrey never was. A hypocrite.
That's actually a good point. ...And now you've made me compliment Joffrey. I'm truly in hell lol.
Let's meet some more dragons.
Who knew the best Flea bottom restaurant out of the Cast?
I'd say Daemon, he was known as "Lord Flea Bottom" after all. Though Mysaria probably knows some good places too. Both of them know where to find some good Cheese, that's for sure.
While we're waiting.. I have a question about S1 episode 9. When they were looking for Aegon, the twins told him Otto was waiting for him outside the city walls? What was Otto's plan?
I think he wanted to convince him that Rhaenyra and her kids needed to be killed before Alicent could find him and convince him otherwise.
Probably to convince Aegon to take the throne. Manipulate him. Idk...
Which was a huge mistake Otto now sees 🤣
maybe to convince him to fly sunfyre with aemond and vhagar and kill rhaenyra right then by surprise
Geeta Patel was by far the best director last season (episode 8), I hope she will be as good this season.
Anyone else notice there's no more false promises/carrot dangling plot points in HoTD compared to GoT? The buzz and mystery of a shadowy character making an appearance was one of the things that made GoT so exciting for better or for worse.

Now that Otto's gone, we're gonna see Aegon throw common sense to the wind entirely and wage a full-on war. Rhaenys really should have lit the whole bunch of them on fire, scandalous as it might have been.
That scene never happened and you cannot convince me otherwise
I Mean what would Even be the play but war .
At this point, absolutely nothing. Just a shitty situation all around :(
That's literally the only play lmao
>Rhaenys really should have lit the whole bunch of them on fire, scandalous as it might have been. Most brain-dead scene I have ever had to endure for more than two minutes, whoever came up with it should have been retired from writing for eternity.
This. That scene alone justifies the entire decanonization of all HOTD
There would literally be no show if she did that.
Other than Caraxes, is there any wild/unclaimed dragon that can match Vhagar?
Verminthor
Not the vermin thor 😭😭😭😭😭😭
The Cannibal probably, but no one is trying to tame that
Is Cannibal more stronger than the Vermithor?
He might be the biggest dragon besides Vhagar, but no one knows how old he is. Stronger than Vermithor? Could be. But Vermithor is a good pick, too.
Cannibal's age estimate varies a LOT. Some say it's as old as Vhagar, some say it was in Westeros before the doom of Valyria, some say it's a child of Vhagar or Meraxes. All we know is that mfer is old.
Vermitor (2 largest) and maybe Cannibal.
Vermithor and the Cannibal are the only dragons that could really stand much of a chance of 'matching' her.
Look at the flair
Whoops, edited.
Guys come on! Happy Birthday. Hope your bday is as fun as the episode.

Otto Hightower is the most interesting character in the show right now. Hope he gets some screen time tonight.
more larys feet scenes pls
Start the episode before I piss myself!
Wonder why they aren’t releasing episode title until it airs. They must be very telling of what actually happens.
I really hope they have benjicot blackwood
54 minutes to go
Leisure Suit Larys bout to get the Queen to pop those piggies out and let him gossip on those toes
This episode isn't just gonna be Daemon having one big 65-minute shroom experience, is it? Not fishing for SPs here, btw.
Why is harenhall so imp. It is being teased a lot
I think it's an important area to control from a military perspective due to its location.
It’s all about its location. Very strategically important
Largest castle in Westeros
How long before the episode is out ?
Guys...had a very tough day, might stay up for this episode, what time is it out UK time?
It airs two and a half hours from now.
I’ve gotten into a habit of rewatching the previous week’s episode before the new episode airs , and I’m loving it
I am ready, so ready. This has been an excellent season so far.
almost time! Best show in a long ass time!

I thought the episode would've dropped by now?
It’s Sunday night in the US, or Monday morning for most of the rest of us.
Sundays
Ahh ok thanks. There's so many shows I'm watching rn that release at midnight that I thought this was one of them
i’ve never heard of a show releasing at midnight. music releases at midnight. but tv shows? it’s all about prime time
Streaming services like Disney+ drop their new shows at midnight est/9pmPst or 3am Est/midnight Pst because when they say 'new episode out Thursday' they mean the very first minute of that day. Whereas HBO takes a more traditional approach.
The boys, the acolyte, and many many other shows like to do this. For EST it's 12am and for us PST folk it's usually 9pm.
I am very excited for daemon and baela making criston run for his life lmaoo
[Don’t make me run! I’m full of chocolate](https://youtu.be/IdwU_HU8brg?feature=shared)
