I love this guy. Him and Olivia in slow horses is just hilarious. Both have such impeccable comedic timing (even shown in House of the dragon of all shows) he’s got charisma for days
Yep. He's also the King of Sweden in The Great, and he popped up in the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare as well. He's been everywhere it feels like lately!
Np! Haha every time my husband and I see him in a new show now we both yell "IS THAT THE KING OF SWEDEN?"
We first saw him in Slow Horses but for some reason king of Sweden is what we associate him with.
They already had a very natural chemistry as a result. It helps he’s as strong an actor as her, so she has a scene partner she can bounce off of well. I want actually more scenes of the two of them. The dynamic being focused on more could be such a great change to the show, I know it’s unlikely though
I think it may really depend on Olivia tbh, because her ability to return depends on if she can with doing House of the dragon and other work commitments. >!she does return in the book series so maybe!<
Oh I hate that!😭 I thought it was getting more recognition and picking up viewers after the 1 and 2 season. I really liked the weird off beat humor and all the actors.
oh does that mean he is related to Laurence Fox?
I hope the rest of the family think Laurence is a complete bell end.
this is large family with a lot of famous members, I will always find it weird Richard Ayoade is Laurence's brother in law
Yeah I think the majority of them have largely disowned him, or consider themselves estranged from him.
Laurence Fox is an absolute pathetic worm of a human. He gives Graham Linehan a run for his money in the “most divorced man in the UK” contest and that’s not even the start of it.
I love how they look different. Baela has sharper features, she's a warrior, a dragon rider. Rhaena has softer features and is being sent to Essos to look after the kids (TM). I think the casting for those two is excellent.
Oh. Lol I think they look very convincing as sisters, but I didn't realize they were twins -- Rhaena looks and reads so much younger to me than Baela. I still think they're convincing as fraternal twins, just wish the show had made that clearer (or I had picked up on it earlier).
If anyone would like to see Rhys Ifans at his absolute best check him out in [Notting Hill](https://youtu.be/ZQPVyIkwCJA). I don't do RomComs but fuck me he kills it.
I have been saying this over and over to anyone who’d listen, I came to Reddit for this specific comment. I’m still not fully convinced it’s not just Samantha in a short wig.
I wish the show had mentioned that Gwayne Hightower appeared in the very first episode and he lost in the tourney against Daemon.
With the out-of-nowhere mention of Daeron last week and now this dude, it might feel like the show is pulling characters out of nowhere, but they did establish a foundation for this guy from the very beginning.
There are maybe two actors/characters that would have been good to enough to be in the original Game of Thrones -series. This guy is one of them! One of the few well written characters and acting performances.
There was a post about a mother-son duo looking alike a few days ago (think it was Alicent-Aegon). It became popular. Now people will find parent-child duo lookalike everywhere (read "project their desire to find a parent-child duo lookalike"), even if both actors share like 2 facial traits in common :D

Isn't he the guy in the Gentlemen with the na*zi collections ? I must admit that moment was akward and funny
Yep. He's also the King of Sweden in The Great, and he popped up in the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare as well. He's been everywhere it feels like lately!
THE GREAT! That’s where I knew him from, thank you
Np! Haha every time my husband and I see him in a new show now we both yell "IS THAT THE KING OF SWEDEN?" We first saw him in Slow Horses but for some reason king of Sweden is what we associate him with.
He’s SO funny in The Great. Kind of took me out of it for a minute to see him in this!
This clicked for me now too! I knew I knew him from somewhere
Huzzah!
That’s where I recognize him!! Thank you!
GASP! That’s where I know him from! Thank you. It was killing me.
Thank you! That’s where I’ve seen him recently.
Are we not even allowed to type the word "Nazi"?
I know that in some subs commebts are autodeleted if you write some words, so just in case...
> Him and Olivia in slow horses Wait ... is that Spider from Slow Horses??
Yes
Indeed, and that's another reason why the casting choice was so good. That small interaction, with their "complicity" truly gives "brotherly" vibes.
They already had a very natural chemistry as a result. It helps he’s as strong an actor as her, so she has a scene partner she can bounce off of well. I want actually more scenes of the two of them. The dynamic being focused on more could be such a great change to the show, I know it’s unlikely though
Do you think her character will return to Slow Horses? I realize >!Spider won't be returning!< and I was glad to see him here!
I think it may really depend on Olivia tbh, because her ability to return depends on if she can with doing House of the dragon and other work commitments. >!she does return in the book series so maybe!<
I think her character is in a similar...state as his.
I've seen that >!her character returns in the books!< but having her in just a couple episodes was criminal!
Omg just realized where I recognized him from. Mind blown.
He was also in Hulu’s The Great with Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. He played King Hugo.
It’s a fucking shame they cancelled this show
They cancelled it?! 😩 I’ve been waiting for the a season to come out. 😭
I'm so sorry to be the one to break the news! It got canceled during the SAG-AFRA strikes back in August :(
Oh I hate that!😭 I thought it was getting more recognition and picking up viewers after the 1 and 2 season. I really liked the weird off beat humor and all the actors.
I gotta rewatch this to remember him
He plays a pretty similar character in all three shows, but man is he good at being a smug incompetent asshole.
Omg thank you. I love Slow Horses but couldnt nail where ive seen him from
Is HotD the reason her character in Slow Horses just disappeared?
Holy fuck thats spyder
Damn, young Rhys tho
Well chosen briefs I must say.
The Gwayne actor was in the three musketeers as the king of France
And the king of Sweden in The Great on Hulu! It’s a very under appreciated show!
And the insane art-collecting Nazi british aristocrat in The Gentlemen.
And a random twink in Banana
Also a twink in Pride!
Ah, I knew I recognized him!
Omg I knew I recognized him from somewhere but I couldn’t place him. I loved him in the Great
Huzzah!
I love it!
That is the King Hugo?
My father fucked your mother in the face! In the faceeeeeee! Otto x Aemma had an affair confirmed.
Gonna have to see this
He was devastatingly posh and snooty in the Riot Club! He had a short role in The Crown too.
That’s where I recognize him from. Thank you.
Why is Otto hot
Hotto
Always has been
Idk did you miss Notting Hill?
I did. But he was hot in little Nicky lol
Hotto Hotower
He's wiry.
Freddie Fox. He comes from a family of actors.
His father (Edward) and uncle (James) are both theatrical and film actors. Edward Fox is best known as the Jackal in The Days of the Jackal.
oh does that mean he is related to Laurence Fox? I hope the rest of the family think Laurence is a complete bell end. this is large family with a lot of famous members, I will always find it weird Richard Ayoade is Laurence's brother in law
Yeah I think the majority of them have largely disowned him, or consider themselves estranged from him. Laurence Fox is an absolute pathetic worm of a human. He gives Graham Linehan a run for his money in the “most divorced man in the UK” contest and that’s not even the start of it.
His mom (Joanna David) played Lady Redwyne in Season 1 too
Havent bothered to look but this guy should play david bowie.
I literally just posted this. Yes!
Yes please.
Hold up. Otto Hightower is the same guy who played Nigel the gambling kicker in the replacements? That’s fuckin wild
He played Spike in Notting Hill as well.
Nice firm buttocks!
Your reply made me smile. Thank you 😁
He’s wirey
Yes!
I'd agree except Baela and Rhaena look nothing alike.
I mean that was probably intentional to distinguish them as separate characters unlike the Cargyll twins whose being similar is plot important.
I love how they look different. Baela has sharper features, she's a warrior, a dragon rider. Rhaena has softer features and is being sent to Essos to look after the kids (TM). I think the casting for those two is excellent.
They have very different appearances in the book as well.
It happens. My brother and I look nothing alike. We do have the same height and build. But little else. Our faces don't look related.
My sister and I are biracial and we look nothing alike
Aren’t they supposed to be twins?!
They are not identical twins.
Oh. Lol I think they look very convincing as sisters, but I didn't realize they were twins -- Rhaena looks and reads so much younger to me than Baela. I still think they're convincing as fraternal twins, just wish the show had made that clearer (or I had picked up on it earlier).
They're not twins in the show. They are different ages, one year difference between them.
They’re twins in the book but not in the show.
I said the same thing. They could not look less like sisters—almost 2 different races.
You’re dragging it now.
I didn't mean that in a rude way. I feel like they could have cast sisters that looked way more alike.
If anyone would like to see Rhys Ifans at his absolute best check him out in [Notting Hill](https://youtu.be/ZQPVyIkwCJA). I don't do RomComs but fuck me he kills it.
Yup ... everytime I see Otto, I can't help but think of the paparazzi scene in NottingHill.
HBO has always done a good job at casting.
Awww Rhys IFans has always been just ♥ ♥ ♥
The seed is strong. - Jon Arryn
Gwayne looks like Samantha Sloyan and it's all I can see looking at his face.
Holy shit you’re right
I have been saying this over and over to anyone who’d listen, I came to Reddit for this specific comment. I’m still not fully convinced it’s not just Samantha in a short wig.
YES. I can't stop thinking about it
They did good casting on the hightowers
Every time this dude pops up in a show he’s playing a posh asshole (and he’s related to the most divorced man in England, Laurence Fox).
I'm just glad King Hugo landed on his feet.
I legit though it was the actor real son
I feel like he could play Bowie too…I got that vibe
I wish the show had mentioned that Gwayne Hightower appeared in the very first episode and he lost in the tourney against Daemon. With the out-of-nowhere mention of Daeron last week and now this dude, it might feel like the show is pulling characters out of nowhere, but they did establish a foundation for this guy from the very beginning.
Just lok at Alicent and **her** son.
Bowie vibes
Same thing with both Tyrell family actresses.Pictures of the late Diana Rigg as a young woman is Natalie Dormer twin or sister.
I love Freddie Fox. If you haven’t already watched it, I highly recommend Year of the Rabbit 😃
He was in “ the delivered “ with Charles Dance
Casting for this show has been incredible in general
u know nothing, jon snow
Just so long as they don't bring Lozza into the show as a relation.
Jesus is this AI?!
Well yeah, they don't look alike aside from maybe the eye.
That so weird, in that those 2 look nothing alike.
There are maybe two actors/characters that would have been good to enough to be in the original Game of Thrones -series. This guy is one of them! One of the few well written characters and acting performances.
Is HBO a small indie company that even the bare minimum of accurate casting is seen as groundbreaking by you?
