When the lady passed out, bounced off another car and then hit me while I was stopped at the stoplight in front of In-N-Out Burger (luckily at 25 mph) the cop joked that it was 100% my fault for driving in Eureka. I didn't think it was that funny the time but these days I chuckle all the time about his comment.
There was a post the other day about a guy in a white truck that targets bikes & pedestrians with bottles or whatever he can throw. Haven’t experienced him yet but overall cars are the #1 thing I fear for my family in this town.
Each of us has had a near life ending experience just trying to walk somewhere.
i wonder if this is the guy i ran into yesterday. my partner and i were walking my small dog, a loud truck passed by and scared my dog so this guy's response was to roll down his window so his giant dog could hang out of it and bark at my pup, scaring her more. she was so scared she almost ran into the street. definitely seemed like he did it on purpose.

Unfortunately sounds like it was completely on purpose. There’s a feeling of, I think ‘ownership’ some have sitting high over the road, my wife had some people yell pretty fucked up stuff from a truck about our baby when she was pushing the stroller at one point.
I remember stopping at a cross walk and the person behind me stopped slammed on their Horn stopped on their gas to pass me in the opposite lane almost hit the couple and their kids who were Crossing the road and needed to slam on his breaks again shocked somebody was crossing the road at a crosswalk.
He just threw his car in reverse flipped around and took of the opposite way as quickly as he could
It’s fucked up to say but it’s almost always safer to NOT stop because you have no control over the other lanes - I’ve witnessed multiple near death hits due to this. It especially applies on 4th & 5th and used to heavily apply on H & I before the lane closure
Yea as a pedestrian I really try to just not get in that situation. I don't cross unless I can see all lanes are properly stopped. Even then it's scary.
If anyone sees a gawky looking queer wearing way too many colors please just keep driving. I will be just fine waiting for a real lull in traffic!!
This is actually a thing. I've heard it called "the wave of death" to wave across someone in a crosswalk because when there are more lanes you don't know if other drivers will stop too.

I might yell at you depending on the intersection. If there is another lane that allows you to go straight and you are in the right lane just to get ahead of everyone else, that’s yellable. An example of this would be Myrtle/West. But if there is just one lane for both straight and right turns, that is not yellable.
i watch these idiots in cars compilations on youtube and the amount of times i've seent humboldt county make an appearance in them is just ridiculous lol

Also, You pay attention to what the driver’s are doing behind you? For me, I just pay attention to the actual car to make sure it’s not gonna hit me. I never notice the ppl in the car (nonetheless see what they’re doing).
I had a similar experience. Stopped to let a group of EHS kids cross the street in a crosswalk. Some asshole laid on his horn at me. Then tried passing and almost hit the kids. He was driving a blue truck with the license plate that reads TECHDAD. I seen him around Henderson center a few times since the incident. If you see him flip him off and tell him he’s a dick!

Same here, I cross h and I streets regularly on foot, I pretend to not be interested in crossing the street, just so nobody stops for me.
