I always rewind this bit multiple times. Charlie’s excitement with the added shadow-boxing + Mac breaking character and trying not to laugh - hilarious.
I rewatched it for the first time in some time & was looking forward to the scene, but I totally forgot this bit & how vicious Charlie is, it was the loudest I've laughed at the TV in ages lol
Yeah i knew they were gonna do something but i didnt expect them to film them beating the fuck out of those kids lol, I was hyperventilating from laughing lol
I love the exchange that follows this lol
""He's not my boyfriend, because I could do a lot better."
"Then why don't you?"
"Well it's a tough dating pool out there, these kids'll find out."
"Oh don't push your agenda on them!"
"I'm not! But statistically at least one of them..." *gestures at a kid*
It’s funny how later sunny episodes have this feel of like “it’s definitely not classic sunny” and at the same time “it’s totally sunny” just absurd and over the top lol
A lot of people don’t like the episodes that are really different like the gang turns black or the janitor mops twice or max gets his pride or the gang cracks the Liberty bell. I don’t have strong feelings about the gang turning black, but the janitor mops twice is one of my all time favorites.
I like all of those except the janitor episode, which I'll consider a revisit of. I didn't like the gang Turks black the first time I saw it. I looked the liberty bell episode the first time.
I thought Mac find his outside sucked until the last scene. I support the message but I just thought it wasn't funny. I still don't think it's funny, but I have a theory that it wasn't supposed to be. Basically all the jokes are recycled.
We've seen Mac struggle with his sexuality, and struggle to gain his father's approval. We've seen Luther be terrifying. We've seen Frank bring people to an orgy with a buffet table before. We've seen Frank break his nose. We've seen Cricket be degraded before, and given compensation less than what was agreed to. We've seen the gang yet to make money by appealing to the gay community in the very first episode. This is the fourth season finale to prominently feature dancing, and the third where someone (or the whole gang) tried to win the approval of others through dance, and the third time it failed. But this, in the end, was truly different because Always Sunny did something that never did before: they were sincere.
There have been plenty of times when a member of the gang has a devastating thing happen to them. Dennis and Dee stuff up their mother's body. Charlie's plan to have sex with the waitress ended with her having sex with Frank instead. But it was always funny. The show always softened the emotional view to the audience with humor. The Waitress is describing terrible, toupe detaching sex. Dennis's reaction to digging up his mom is so over the top, and the musical show combine to make it funny, as do both Frank's reaction to it and him losing his shoes. But this episode didn't soften the blow. As the minutes ticked on, I grew more and more uncomfortable waiting for a punch line that never came. I honestly felt it when Luther gets up and leaves, and Mac cries. There was no punch line. The last 5 minutes or so have no jokes, except maybe the "Ronald McDonald" huge, but when that I personally was more aware of Mac's vulnerability than the gag about his name.
We finally got a true payoff for ripped Mac. The contrast of him having this ideal, strong male physique as he reveals he is not what many consider the "ideal" of even a "real" man is a brilliant contrast. It's unexpected. Just like the whole ending. An episode with one recycled jokes or plot point after another sets you up to think this will end like an the other episodes, hell even all the other dance heavy season finales, and that the punch line is coming. But at the end they have us something original by not making a joke, and did once really letting us feel the characters pain without the buffer of laughter. The picky other time the show has come close to this was Charlie's speech to his dad in Ireland. But that ended with the gang showing up and being funny etc. In this episode, they don't do that and it's the single most emotional moment in the show by far.
Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it lol
I agree with you on Mac finding his pride. It’s their show and they can obviously make whatever episodes they want and it’s a good message but I didn’t find the episode funny. I’d guess I’m probably in the minority liking the janitor mops twice, but I grew up watching those old film noir movies with my family, so it was hilarious to see them be parodied like that in a episode. However, it’s so out of left field compared to other episodes that I get why people wouldn’t like it.
At least when that season came out I remember a lot of negativity around it. It's partially understandable as it's a very avant garde episode, while also stressing a controversial topic (black lives matter) which a lot of the fans don't seem to "get" always sunny.
I admit I didn't particularly like it when it came out, but tattooed it a few times and I loved it a lot.
I was thinking on this! I think what’s neat is the gang tries sometimes, they know these terms and they’re adjusting their worldview. But they’re still shitheads so the moment they’re affected all of it goes out the window.
And with the placebo smart pills, he immediately treated everyone like shit because he thought he was finally superior to everyone.
Let's not forget he faked cancer in the first season.
Hes also the one that got cricket addicted to drugs even laughing maniacally while rubbing his gums
Not to mention the innocent santa he bit or the girl he gave a box of spiders to.
Damn it how could I screw that up 😭

Everyone in the gang has a good heart, though. >!Now we just to find out who those hearts belonged to, and how they got their hands on those transplanted organs!<.
Charlie openly harassing and stalking a woman for 20 year, A drug addict (yes sniffing paint is considered as one). No pure hearts in the main gang tbh. But yeah, his the least problematic and most admirable of the bunch.
no, you don't get it. He has to do those things. Otherwise, things start going wrong and nad things can happen, everything charlie does is a solution to a problem
I'm not so sure he's the least problematic. He just has a lot of childlike sensibilities which make his toxic behavior a bit easier to overlook and forget about. But that's what I like about his character. It makes it more shocking when he's doing something incredibly horrendous.
They didn’t but Dennis said “no they won’t die, we’ll leave an anonymous tip for the police we just need to wait until we get far enough away” the probably just forgot they’re a bit quirky
People hate the characters? Like they’re all horrible people but I would never say I hate them. They’re all very entertaining. And still this is nothing compared to the rest of the gang. Mac and Charlie beat some kids up, Frank and Dee kill kids and Dennis rapes minors
I guess it's not confirmed necessarily but he spends the entire fight montage kicking the hell out of a single kid until he's lying on the ground not moving, and then when they walk away he says he thinks he killed him.
Mac and Dee also killed a kid by deliberately sending him down a waterslide (which he was only stuck in/passed out in because of them) while unconscious. You see him floating face down at the bottom of the slide unseen by lifeguards and during the chaos later they make a point of showing a woman saying "has anyone seen my son?"
I loved that scene so much. So often in movies or series you see some asshole-kids where you think „they deserve such a big slap in their face“ which I also thought in that episode. And then came this! It was hillarious
What gets me is that, when he's in power, he starts acting like Dennis. Also, he stalks the Waitress, sometimes showing no empathy for her. Charlie isn't a good person, either.
My favorite part is how you can see the kid suddenly shrink in size before the stunt person takes the hit. It’s like they went with a smaller stunt person intentionally so that shoulder block would look even more vicious.
My gf loves Charlie and after a while I noticed a trend with other similar characters she likes. I categorize them as her " Good boys". They are usually good wholsome male characters with a hidden darkness inside. Some examples include: Butters from South Park, or Buster Bluth in Arrested Development.
Idk man it was a brutal scene I and I'll admit I feel slightly bad for the kids. But they absolutely deserved this ass whooping and I laugh harder and harder each time I see this scene because it is still funny after all these years
They’re all terrible people, but the show is a comedy and they’re not portraying any character as a role model, they don’t pretend anything they’re doing is ok. So I would hope that any criticism of the show takes that into account.
This isn’t GOT where there is people trying to say that actually Khal Drogo raping Dany was ok and normal.
Let's all be real here, we were extremely happy when they beat the shit out of these kids.
Hell yeah I was. I wish I could watch it for the first time again. I don't get to laugh like that every day or week and so on.
It gets funnier every time for me I don't want surprises, I want to expect something great and get something great ![gif](giphy|zvhLegRrWl9Be)
I always rewind this bit multiple times. Charlie’s excitement with the added shadow-boxing + Mac breaking character and trying not to laugh - hilarious.

I'm extremely happy watching this gif loop repeatedly.
Tje whole The Godfather homage was hilarious
Every other show would have a whole “we cant fight kids thing” - nah
They had it coming
![gif](giphy|iB4kEnVzmfeVUIItqZ|downsized) Charlie was just backing up his best bud. He could’ve easily said “not my bike, not my problem”
Do you have the same bike as your boyfriend?? GAY!
I love the exchange that follows this lol ""He's not my boyfriend, because I could do a lot better." "Then why don't you?" "Well it's a tough dating pool out there, these kids'll find out." "Oh don't push your agenda on them!" "I'm not! But statistically at least one of them..." *gestures at a kid*
It’s funny how later sunny episodes have this feel of like “it’s definitely not classic sunny” and at the same time “it’s totally sunny” just absurd and over the top lol
I've found I liked a lot of the later season episodes more on repeat viewings, like the gang turns black.
What are the rules?
Do people not like The Gang Turns Black? It’s one of my favourite episodes.
A lot of people don’t like the episodes that are really different like the gang turns black or the janitor mops twice or max gets his pride or the gang cracks the Liberty bell. I don’t have strong feelings about the gang turning black, but the janitor mops twice is one of my all time favorites.
Liberty bell is top notch. When she spits on colonel crickets face hahah
Flourish the pinky. Yeeeeeeeeeeesh

You think we came here to read all this? Who invited this Jabroni?
I agree with you on Mac finding his pride. It’s their show and they can obviously make whatever episodes they want and it’s a good message but I didn’t find the episode funny. Charlie and Mac team up episodes are the best. White trash, the Xmas episode, old lady house, etc.
agreed. CAT <3 MAC 4EVR
https://i.redd.it/ub5vh9vm9d6d1.gif
Drunk Charlie ref is top tier 👌
You better button that lip!
Is that a threat!?
Ok, Dad
Lets have a team! LETS PLAY SOME BAAAAAALL !
Also what he did to Ruby Taft was fucked up.
Looks like Charlie had the cruelest intentions of all.
And with the placebo smart pills, he immediately treated everyone like shit because he thought he was finally superior to everyone. Let's not forget he faked cancer in the first season.
Told a little girl “Samantha gets to be mean. Because Samantha is a star. And maybe one day you’ll be a star. But now you’re trash”
The way he says “Samantha gets to be mean” fucking kills me every single time
To be fair, if you spent your entire life far behind everybody, you might let intelligence get to your head in the first few weeks too.
This guy. He's being a real shee zhou shu, right Tang-see?
I LEARNED IT FROM YOU! WHAT DO YOU-oh..oh yeah
Hes also the one that got cricket addicted to drugs even laughing maniacally while rubbing his gums Not to mention the innocent santa he bit or the girl he gave a box of spiders to.
How do you know the Santa was innocent?
Seriously, I’m pretty sure that Santa had likely banged Bonnie Kelly at some point
Cool, all of Philly is now guilty too I guess.
Uncle Jack is the only man around Bonnie she hasn’t banged
He didn’t even put an S on the box for spiders
*pop
Damn it how could I screw that up 😭 https://preview.redd.it/ama6oimeig6d1.jpeg?width=575&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=088c40c93e026c7a48dea4bbab68186f249eb166
For real bro that's one of my dream girls and he did her so dirty but his confidence made it hilarious
How do people think this is worse than stalking and harassing a woman for over a decade lmao
Do you really think The Waitress has a worse life than Cricket???
I'm talking about Ruby Taft not Cricket lol, slight difference in life quality
okay lol much more reasonable then
Because Alexandra Dadarrio
that was an incredible scene because Charlie had been developing into "the woobie" character for years, even his stalking was becoming a quirky habit
Yeah that episode showed he's just as much of a bastard as the rest of the gang. He just might not show it as much.
Hes also killed whole generations of rats with his bash stick.
he's a monster
yeah usually when the gang is fucked up and evil its funny. but the ruby thing was just cruel and not entertaining. felt really bad for her there
How did they shoot this scene?
they explained it in podcasts. One day Charlie was randomly beating the kids, crew loved it, so they kept the cameras rolling
I will have to find that one I missed it
[удалено]
I choose to believe that is real
You must be one of the show's lawyers
[удалено]
Then it's best just to assume they were also likely being sarcastic
People complain about the /s but then we get things like this. It's why the /s is going to stick around.
God that is such a Paul thing to say.
They hired a business called Street Sets that employs adult stuntmen who play children. ![gif](giphy|nT5gltIapvaR2lBRyq|downsized)
You can totally see it's an old guy
https://i.imgur.com/R5zbZ2Y.gifv
I THOUGHT IT WOULD LOOK FUCKING REAL
I totally thought that was Tom Hanks at first
He could just transform into the kid himself with that carnival game.
Stunt child
Everyone in the gang has a good heart, though. >!Now we just to find out who those hearts belonged to, and how they got their hands on those transplanted organs!<.
Dennis keeps his in a box. *A glass box*.
That he displays…on his mantle.
https://i.redd.it/enukyi62ud6d1.gif
Did you fuck my fucking mom?!
This is the only scene I fast forward in the series haha. Even though it's pretty obviously fake, it just feels so real lol.
Funny how people can be so different. When i watch this episode i will rewind this part to rewatch it a few times
If they ever want to end the series with everyone getting arrested, Charlie should go to jail for murdering the mall Santa.
You're in the wroooong basement!
I guess Charlie had the cruelest intentions of all…
Charlie openly harassing and stalking a woman for 20 year, A drug addict (yes sniffing paint is considered as one). No pure hearts in the main gang tbh. But yeah, his the least problematic and most admirable of the bunch.
You know you’ve done a great job writing for unlikeable characters when the fucking stalker is considered the least problematic.
He’s also too stupid to realize he’s doing something wrong
no, you don't get it.
But charlie is the most well adusted and comfortable in his skin.
So you're saying, if I get more skin, then I can be better??
I gotta say Mac is slightly better. Yeah he's a douchebag but doesn't stalk and therefore isn't a science bitch
What are you gonna do about it?
Fuck them kids
Thank you! Finally someone says it. Also the time he bit a mall Santa’s ear off
I thought he was going for the neck
It was his neck. I think he even tells one of Ricky Falcone's neighbors he'll bite them right in their throat or neck too.
Also when he kidnapped the newspaper reporter and knocked him out with a hammer and a glass bottle
he really didn't like the guy tho
Also very comfortable to lock those people in a burning apartment AND was probably going to murder the leprechaun
Well they were very adamant that they would call the police and that they wouldn’t burn to death
Open to correction but I don’t think they did? The others had to escape through the window
They didn’t but Dennis said “no they won’t die, we’ll leave an anonymous tip for the police we just need to wait until we get far enough away” the probably just forgot they’re a bit quirky
![gif](giphy|xFnyGXffad2jQAFR1y|downsized)
So?! Pushed with his whole heart
All you have to do is yell tag afterwards and then you’re just playing, not beating the child lol
Yeah, but the kid had it coming.
People hate the characters? Like they’re all horrible people but I would never say I hate them. They’re all very entertaining. And still this is nothing compared to the rest of the gang. Mac and Charlie beat some kids up, Frank and Dee kill kids and Dennis rapes minors
Dennis AND Dee rape minors, also pretty sure Charlie killed a kid in this episode
True on Dee. I don’t think he killed a kid but I may be wrong?
I guess it's not confirmed necessarily but he spends the entire fight montage kicking the hell out of a single kid until he's lying on the ground not moving, and then when they walk away he says he thinks he killed him.

You see him floating face down at the bottom of the slide unseen by lifeguards and during the chaos later they make a point of showing a woman saying "has anyone seen my son?"
Actually Mac had no part in that. He told Dee not to do that
I think he changes his mind when he realises the kid pooped lol
Oh shit that’s right. My bad
Oh I must have missed that dialogue. But I think he and Mac are the best people in the gang for sure
Who hates the gang!!!??? They are lovable rapscallions
Those little shits deserved it!
The gang does have a light touch with children
I mean, he's the sweetest person in the main cast but they are all monsters in their own ways.
![gif](giphy|xT1XGESDlxj0GwoDRe|downsized)
He also humiliated a woman that was in love with him because he was obsessed with the waitress.
It was a clean hit!
he was doing a much needed public service
Deserved
They stole his bike, dude. Twice!
I loved that scene so much. So often in movies or series you see some asshole-kids where you think „they deserve such a big slap in their face“ which I also thought in that episode. And then came this! It was hillarious
I want to get hard. Very, very hard
Kids, please try this at home.
People forget there is a spider deep in his soul
What gets me is that, when he's in power, he starts acting like Dennis. Also, he stalks the Waitress, sometimes showing no empathy for her. Charlie isn't a good person, either.
As an adult who has wanted to slap the shit out of dirtbag children, this scene was incredibly satisfying to watch.
juggernaut
Who said charlie has a good heart?
which episode is this ?
He beat the hell out of Dee while roided out of his gourd
I'm starting to think these aren't very good people. Possible serial killers even.
The kids deserved it, Charlie is a hero
Kid had it coming
fucking street sets
I can still think of like 3 things each that the rest of the gang has done that’s worse than Charlie potentially killing this kid 😂😂
Nothing in this series has made me laugh harder than this monster body check.
Not even the million dollar baby episode
I dont see a problem here? Only somebody with a healthy heart could make that sprint in time.
Nah, kids are made of rubber
Pretty sure he killed Santa too
What are you gonna do about it?
I don’t know that I’ve ever laughed as anything is hard as I laughed at that scene. The first time I saw it.
Bike thieves deserve worse
THANK YOUUUUU “Charlie is the kindest character.” BULLSHIT
Charlie's good-hearted but also crazy. He almost went Reservoir dogs on a "leprechaun" too and there's more
He was also the one that kidnapped the reviewer
The leprechaun.
Butters is a Good Boy!
Idk man it was a brutal scene I and I'll admit I feel slightly bad for the kids. But they absolutely deserved this ass whooping and I laugh harder and harder each time I see this scene because it is still funny after all these years
Charlie faking having cancer or stalking a women for over a decade might be a better example. Fuck that kid!
Those little punks had it coming. Don't bad mouth my sweet boy, Charlie.
Im from Philly. This is the way it is. We grew up playing smear the queer at recess.
Are we supposed to feel bad here?
All the characters are horrible. I thought that was the point.
It’s negotiable if the kids are d!€k
Didn't he cut off a little person's ear?
Charlie, you're my hero
Exactly! He's the best! Some call him A Full on Rapist. Always with the elderly and kids!
That's a legit tackle in street rule football. U weak spines noodle-men have never played on an unplowed street.
Charlie literally banged and dated Ruby just to make the waitress jealous but not before calling Ruby a dumb slut.
He also had a good heart when he attacked Santa.
Not a single fan has said that, let alone multiple. What the fuck is that caption?
Wildcard!
Those kids deserved it. So did Santa…
I mean, we’re grading on a curve here when it comes to morality
just to understand, people really hate the gang? why watch the show?
Nonono, hold up. These kids deserved it
![gif](giphy|eIMvRP2aX4bXW)
Kid deserved it
God i loved that scene. Deep within we all want to beat those little asshole. (I would of course never do it, but it's OK to imagine it.)
Can’t stop uncontrollably laughing every time
You can have a good heart and still wanna slam a kid into a car door ❤️
I don’t think the kid died from getting pushed into a car lmfao, let’s not be dramatic
Charlie literally says later in the Range Rover “I think I killed a kid!” to which Mac replies “he did! I saw him, I think the kid’s dead” 😂
[удалено]
Plus there's like four cuts that imply he's just kicking the kid.
