YouTube gamers are often models acting as gamers.
Especially the girls. They literally cater to horny 13 year olds who are watching the stream hoping that the idol they fell in love with will "accidentally" let their boob slip out of their shirt. Most of those can't even play the games well.
I strongly doubt they're models. DarkViperAU is a GTA V speedrunner, and many of them spend hours upon hours each day not just streaming, but practicing the game they're going to stream
Are they gamers though? Pretty sure they mostly do just chatting. And even then, i don't understand why you'd assumr they aren't gamers because they're very pretty. Like, do you have a chart? A percentage, or something? You must atleast THIS ugly to be a gamer?
This just sounds like sexist rhetoric, if you ask me. People who stream for that purpose don't necessarily fake being gamers for that purpose, they mostly go on just chatting and sit in hot tubs. And either way, who even cares? You don't need to watch them do it, and people clearly enjoy it enough to fund it. People like you or me (or at least I assume you don't have interest) might not get why someone would bother watching, but we don't have to since we're not the target audience.
The vast majority creating _gaming content_ probably play video games because.. they could just get "a real job", as people in their 50s would say, and it would on average be much much much much easier for them to succeed. But it they really care about what they're making content about, they aren't going to care about that. Most people who make YouTube/Twitch content are not financially successful off of it alone. This shit is fucking hard to do well, takes a lot of time, and most of the time you won't break even or be able to pay bills without having a "real job".
This is such a weird take, bordering on a conspiracy theory.
