When you take the exit on the left, it goes about 500' before going over the road you are looking at. The exit is 3 lanes and continues across a one-way bridge built by the theme park.

The entrance to Great Adventure, NJ is on the left. There is a 2nd entrance about 500ft behind the photographer for east bound traffic (the cars driving away from the camera).
It would make it look longer. Telephoto compression makes it look like objects are more on top of each other. Opposite of a wide angle lens making things seem further away. In this case the telephoto lens makes it look more crowded and easier to distinguish how far back the line of traffic goes but doesn't reduce how far back it goes.

Six Flags didn’t want to pay to alter the roadways feeding onto their property (assuming a traffic study were actually done), and the county didn’t want to force them to pay for it. Don’t put this hot cat shit on the planners when they’re the only ones at the table who know what the hell they’re doing.

It is but this traffic in the image is coming from the interstate already passed that figure 8. That figure 8 just allows them to do a Uturn to go back the direction these cars are already heading or go back to the interstate away from the park.
