They must pay the AIFF around 3cr per season for a few years. It essentially means that instead of getting promoted to I League via I League 2, they get direct entry by paying a certain amount of money
Teams Increase. Corporate entries can't be relegated in first season or in some cases more than 1 season as well.
Playing in ILeague is not exactly a money making opportunity you might think + you got to pay aiff as well. So, you still need to put together a good team nonetheless.
It's a way to move your club forward even if your state federation is incompetent.
Exactly. When I saw that Vels FC is having try outs for potential players, I was really embarrased about the state of football. Having tryouts to get players in the second division of Indian Football? This is the kind of stuff only a club below the 6th or 7th tier in England would do.
Indian football has a really long way to go
Tryouts are generally not meant for senior players. I know for a fact that almost all the Kolkata clubs recruit youngsters from tryouts; nothing wrong with that.
They are an unit of Vels University.

Can someone explain to me what is meant by corporate entry ?

Bribery by the rules. Damn. Follow up question : So does the number of teams in I league increases or some "worthy" team has to sacrifice their spot ?

Yeah normally something like this would be really controversial but given the state of India's football structure, it is understandable
Once ILeague has 20-24 teams they should either remove this or allow it for ILeague2 instead of ILeague

Nope, it is a good initiative. BFC started out as corporate entry only.
