Although, you already have pets, so you'd know most of what I'm about to say - are those the burn marks from hot water, or is he suffering from those skin mites/parasites (I forget the exact name), but I've seen some kittens succumb to it. Not sure if he is old enough for spot-on, so I'll recommend taking him to vet (which I'm sure you'd be doing anyway).

The area around the nose (and under the eyes) where his fur is missing is what I'm referring to as 'burn/fungal infection'.

He was very malnourished and scared, but he's now recovering. My own pets (a dog and a cat) are adjusting (they never hurt a fly).

I think you're talking about Mange. It is fungal.
Scabies is what I was trying to remember. As it turns out, scabies is a specific form of Mange. Thank you!
