You are right. I started with Metro Exodus and the final mission was haunting. Amazing game but that final mission took it to another level. Rarely has a game given me chills like that.
Now I'm playing Metro 2033 Redux and even in the first hour one segment had similar vibes to that mission but not as intense. Can't recommend the serious enough.
The musical score in that one segment " race against time" from Exodus is such a hair raising experience that I can't stress how much it needs to be experienced .
Tbh I don't think stalker is really a post apocalyptic game if the apocalypse is constrained within a "zone" which is expanding for unknown reason. Same goes for dying light aswell since the outbreak happened in a specific region
Not done fightin', I don't feel I've lost
Am I dreamin', is there more like us?
Got me feeling like it's all too much
I feel beaten, but I can't give up
Even if I ignore the hell lot of bugs it came with druing release, the story is so generic and predictable, I guess we the whole story, being just 4 hours in the game. Not worth it imo.
Neir automata the combat is amazing the soundtracks are marvelous but I have only one problem with game and it might be subjective, the navigation system is shity mostly the map design.
1. Days Gone. Despite criticisms what a fresh story and play style. Loved taking on the hoards!!
2. Metro’s first part. Loved its errie overall aesthetic and its true to novel story.
Metro feels truly dystopian. I still remember playing redux versions and just immersing myself in the environment with headphones on. The experience was scary and great. The mutated organisms especially spiders gave me the creeps.
Fallout 4 I would say especially when you have ton on mods that increase the experience highly plus you can goof around, that God lvl feeling like you call the shots...
BUT Metro Exudes was just something else, The graphics and storytelling is awesome.
Days gone and the last of us can't be beaten imo.
Both beautifully displayed the human nature that will be unleashed once all rules and regulations, government, ethics die down and one must only look out for himself and his close ones.
Both had realistic gameplay with the gun customisation and world details.
Days gone's world activities, uniqueness, concept and probably my favorite the hordes were outmost batshit crazy and gave me the adrenaline pump. It also had a very unique story with how sara get's seperated and deacon thinks she is dead. Just beautiful how they meet again and proceed on.
Lou had that emotional angle which imo ( i may be biased because i love this game), which just made the characters as they were breathing beside us. The story is a masterpiece as we all know and love besides the world details were crazy too and just all in all it is also a crazy game.
It's a tragedy sony cancelled the masterpiece that was days gone 2 and 3( yes it was a trilogy and was in writing process, said by the director) . But i guess it's life, nothing goes in a straight line.
Will give the crown to these two
Can't decide between them and if i were to be asked to decide. I will go bat shit crazy on that person.
I haven't played them all but the ones I've played have all been awesome at depicting post apocalyptic world in their own way
Days Gone - Best world imo. Gives true feeling of dread especially when night starts to fall and all you wnat to do is rush to the nearest shelter, but it's so exhilarating when you spend the entire night outside and kill a few zombies or a horde and see the sun rising after.
Metro - The underground setting is so good, it makes you feel cozy and comfortable knowing all the dangers awaiting outside. Equally adventurous and exciting when you head outside particularly when the filters start running out.
Horizon - Truly depicts start of a new civilization after the end of one but the "ancient" structures are perfectly meshed in the world and never feel forced. And, of course, it's beautiful af.
Fallout - A sandbox in post apocalyptic world is a dream of anyone that likes such stories.
TLOU - Another amazing depiction, similar elements to Days Gone just not open world but the way they've shown how nature eventually takes over everything is so heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
Death stranding...
Whatever someone says, it showed how the world will be if the majority of the population got deleted or went underground... And that was beautiful (except the BT part)
State of decay. Nothing comes close. The games on the list look good, but nothing says apocalypse like finding a custom character that's super helpful to your establishment and having them die to a zombie knowing well enough that you'll never see them ever again. The food and resources mechanism makes you choose between abandoning another surviver group who just saved you because you don't have enough to take them in. Your trader can die, you can find an engineer but you didn't find the book so he doesn't know how to upgrade your base. The game HAS DEPTH. It looks like shit but it's absolutely stunning in terms of apocalyptic world. Not a single game in Your normie list comes close. I'm sorry.
The last of Us and Metro are top notch and realistic end of times. In A tier I would have Days Gone, Death Stranding and Horizon. Becuase they each tried something new and preseneted a really intersting world.
Currently through my first playthrough of Mad Max, and I am really liking the vibes of it so far. The history relics give a real chilly sense to it all, imo. Like it's so normalised that the world's gone to shit.
I haven’t played Nier. But Horizon’s setting is very captivating. A mixture of old ruins and fascinating machine beasts. And the first game’s story somehow explained it all with an amazingly written story since I never thought it was possible to explain hunting a T-800 Dinosaur with a bow.
Yet the story of Project Zero dawn and the lore behind was so well done.
death stranding is something very unique, very weird and crazy result of an equally weird and unique creator. its the only game i savored each and every data that could reveal anything about the world. played days gone, last of us part 1 and HZD and HFW. Last of us comes second due to the unique character dynamics but gameplay wise its generic. other 3 are pretty linear basic and most importantly very poorly ported ps5 games ever.
I feel Days Gone is underrated. The story is real good and emotional, now can’t compare with Last of Us. Ive played it twice on PC.
Death Stranding is a musical masterpiece, I’ve enjoyed every soundtrack and still listen to it.
Metro tops for me nothing gave me such a feeling when I first played it. The atmosphere, jump scares, underground city everything was just perfect.
Metro is extremely underrated, every ending of every game in the trilogy hits deep
On which segment you are in? I completed metro 2033 redux then playing last light redux. It's great game tho.
Right now I'm in chapter 3. Just met up with Khan.
Nice, Enjoy! Btw if you get lost or don't know where to go just follow the directions of the lighter.where the fire navigates you
Thanks! Did not know that.
The musical score in that one segment " race against time" from Exodus is such a hair raising experience that I can't stress how much it needs to be experienced .
Artyom, it's me Khan!
Will give it try for sure now...
Metro is the best the customization of guns and the story with the openness of exploring everything is crazy
s.t.a.l.k.e.r shadow of chernobyl
Tbh I don't think stalker is really a post apocalyptic game if the apocalypse is constrained within a "zone" which is expanding for unknown reason. Same goes for dying light aswell since the outbreak happened in a specific region

its getting dark outside...time to start a killing frenzy on these mofos
A truly underrated game, great to see it's getting a lot of love after so many years of release
Dying light definitely isn't underrated. It's among the top zombie games.

Fallout New Vegas is my personal favorite
Hell yeah.
Ring a ding ding brother

Metro because because it creates a feeling of you being vulnerable. It did what other post apocalyptic game couldn't.
Days gone is hella underrated omg
Yeah days gone definitely needs a sequel
Even if I ignore the hell lot of bugs it came with druing release, the story is so generic and predictable, I guess we the whole story, being just 4 hours in the game. Not worth it imo.
Keep playing 4 hours of death stranding is basically nothing the world and story truly opens up as the you progres further
Half-Life 2
boy do i love being turned to a miserable stalker slave for a single minor mistake

Metro hands down. GoW was a fun game too, but it didn't feel dystopian.
Metro one of the few games in which I cried in the end and also days gone underrated both
At the end of exodus?
Neir automata the combat is amazing the soundtracks are marvelous but I have only one problem with game and it might be subjective, the navigation system is shity mostly the map design.
Death Stranding no doubt
Fallout and Horizon
1. Days gone 2. Horizon 3. Death stranding 4. Fallout
1. Days Gone. Despite criticisms what a fresh story and play style. Loved taking on the hoards!! 2. Metro’s first part. Loved its errie overall aesthetic and its true to novel story.
Nier automata and its not even close
1. Days Gone 2. Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden west 3. Metro 4. Last of Us
Days Gone! Beautiful storytelling. Great visuals. Fights were amazing. The story left no crumbs. Best of all, had a happy ending.
Ist half before moving to the mountains was slow af. The game wss quite repetitive and I really felt the open world fatigue
Last Of Us 🤘🏻
I've only played metro out of all these and the experience was unlike anything else.
Zombies Retreat
Metro feels truly dystopian. I still remember playing redux versions and just immersing myself in the environment with headphones on. The experience was scary and great. The mutated organisms especially spiders gave me the creeps.
Fallout 4 I would say especially when you have ton on mods that increase the experience highly plus you can goof around, that God lvl feeling like you call the shots... BUT Metro Exudes was just something else, The graphics and storytelling is awesome.
Should I pick up the bundle for 600?
Gears of war series My time at portia Halo series Metro series Inversion
Fallout 3/NV and it is not even close
Horizon.
The last of us and Days gone special mention to Horizon Forbidden West
Nier
Player the original STALKER, GOW on PC, Metro and Death Stranding. For action, its GOW For environment and story, its Death Stranding
Stalker trilogy and Stalker anomaly for full sandbox post apocalyptic experience.
Horizon , Last of us for sure
Fallout series for me because the lore is very deep and every aspects of the game is closely interwoven.
Days gone and the last of us can't be beaten imo. Both beautifully displayed the human nature that will be unleashed once all rules and regulations, government, ethics die down and one must only look out for himself and his close ones. Horizon verse is so underrated. You think you're in an ancient civilization and then suddenly you see robot animals.

I haven't played them all but the ones I've played have all been awesome at depicting post apocalyptic world in their own way Days Gone - Best world imo. Metro & maybe Half Life 2 , because I like Eastern European and Russian post apocalyptic settings.
The walking dead telltale series❤️❤️❤️😍😍
The Walking Dead, maybe. The Last of Us is also good.
nothing hits me in the feels like metro...the setting and story are just perfect, and the game being good is an added bonus
Crysis 2: I am not sure whether it falls in this category, as the entire gameplay was around post apocalyptic New York city. And i liked it.
Is days gone good?
Death stranding... Whatever someone says, it showed how the world will be if the majority of the population got deleted or went underground... And that was beautiful (except the BT part)
METROOOOOO 🗣️

Soma. That cutscene and revelation sent chills
Last of us and metro
the last of us
Dying Light 2
The last of Us and Metro are top notch and realistic end of times. In A tier I would have Days Gone, Death Stranding and Horizon. Becuase they each tried something new and preseneted a really intersting world.
Story wise: METRO by a mile Interactivity wise: Nier by a mile Visually: Horizon
Currently through my first playthrough of Mad Max, and I am really liking the vibes of it so far. The history relics give a real chilly sense to it all, imo. Like it's so normalised that the world's gone to shit.
Currently stellar blade
Where tf is dying light
Fallout and Metro are unmatched
Half-Life 2
Death Stranding and Metro
No one ever played Nier Automata in this sub? It is the best game I have ever played in this list.
Horizon and Fallout
Days gone for me, deserved a sequel IMO
Days gone, when the dude meets his wife after a long time, damn that was so anti-climactic.
Is death stranding good?
Metro and Nier
Absolutely loved Death Stranding for how bizarre and satisfying the whole premise of the game was
The last of us 🫶🫶
Horizon Series is Superb as well
Death stranding definitely has the most unique and gameplay integrated setting in all of these games.
Borderlands 2 😳
SOMA S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl S.T.A.L.K.E.R Anomaly Dying light Half-Life series Portal series
Dying light 1 and 2

Contra
Metro on the top followed by nier
Last of us, gears of war and metro
My opinion is the last of us is the best one
Metro will immerse you in a unique apocalyptic environment.
Days gone. loved it man!
You won't find a game with a better setting than fallout new Vegas. Best "setting" of all time, the boiling point of the 3 factions is just🤌🏼
I don’t have enough brain cells to juggle 250 options via pip boy so I couldn’t play fallout.
Fallout and Metro but Death Stranding was definitely unique
Last of us
Metro series especially metro last light
Mad max should also be included in this list
Metro all the way, goated series
Metro series. Great atmosphere and great story
Half life 2
I feel Days Gone is underrated. The story is real good and emotional, now can’t compare with Last of Us. Ive played it twice on PC. Death Stranding is a musical masterpiece, I’ve enjoyed every soundtrack and still listen to it.
Ofc it's Days gone
Story and feel wise last of us
Horizon and Gears.
Days Gone
S.T.A.L.K.E.R saga
MadMax bhai..
Mad Max

Metro for sure. Truly an emotional story which really connects.
I love Last of us because of story but setting wise nothing beats metro, but I somewhat prefer horizon more.
Fallout
From this list I liked Horizon’s setting the most, I just hated the game
Last of us and dying light really got the atmosphere right
Horizon
Fallout
