Daniel Molloy is amazing and long suffering. I really hope we get a peek into what happened between him and Armand that led to his turning. Did they stay together for a while after? Where's Armand currently in present day?
Lestat and Louis have so much chemistry in every scene together that it feels incredibly intimate. The scene in New Orleans was intense but beautiful and Lestat seemed both the same character we know and also a completely different character. We're so used to seeing him through other's POV that seeing the real him felt a bit strange. Sam played the differences incredibly.
Can't wait for S3. Lots to think about from that finale as it's opened so many storyline doors.
I assume they are at minimum in contact because Daniel says 'I 'm guessing you haven't heard from my maker? Fucking asshole' meaning he knows Armand was meant to tell Louis something.
I took that more as Armand being missing and no one can get in contact with him rather than a message that needs to be sent. i.e. Daniel assuming that Louis hasn't heard from Armand means that Daniel's currently looking for Armand but it's been long enough that he has no leads on where Armand is and he doesn't figure he's going to get one any time soon. Also, they probably both (Daniel and Louis) figure that Armand wouldn't contact Louis directly anyway, after everything that went down between them, but Daniel can't help double checking.
THAT scene between lestan and louis…my god….Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson I WILL get you those emmys even if I was to steal them barehanded and engrave your names with my teeth!!!!
Daniel molloy is the MVP of this show. I love how he was scared throughout his stay in Dubai but regardless, he was on a mission to pull Louis out of this abusive relationship and he did exactly that. Can't wait to see more of his vampiric adventures and hopefully more about his turning by Armand.
Also, the Louis-Lestat reunion broke me. Man did I start crying. Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid, such incredibly great actors and they have an even greater chemistry. I also love that the real Lestat is much softer. I just wanted to give him a hug. Poor guys, both of them. I like that they left their ending ambiguous.
What a show. Holy shit, Interview with the Vampire is one of the best shows ever and I can't wait for it to blow up when it starts streaming on Netflix.
I thought that Daniel Molloy would get somehow rejuvenated once he gets turned into a vampire.
But I think I like the message or the intention of showing us old looking vampires who can still thrive and be full of life.
Best example: *60-year-old Ben Daniels as Santiago*
We are so used to seeing very conventionally hot, youthful looking vamps as the main characters in mainstream media/pop culture.
I would recommend holding off on such a summary. But you do get to see Lestat again, he is where his heart belongs his only prison is himself and it is both the most touching and heart wrenching scene in the series.
Exactly, Eric said in an interview in the first season that he would be the "hero" of this show, and damn how much I love this character now, in the books I found him very boring.
I wouldn’t say that the Lestat we see in present day is the ‘real’ one. Plus we see that version of Lestat after ~80 years of Louis and Claudia ‘killing’ him. A lot can happen in 80 years while you’re dealing with vampire loneliness.
I believe this also because Sam Reid said that in all the years Lestat was in the coffin, he contemplated and came out a bit different. like he’s not gonna pop out after a decade and go back to his old ways again. I trust the actors’ sayings cuz they seem to really know the full story what we haven’t seen yet, and they even subtly spoil / hint at a characters true intentions that we haven’t seen yet in the post-episode talks.
Holy shit, Daniel. That dude has some balls. His smug "gotcha" look at Armand was amazing.
Also god, that scene at Lestat's house. 😭😭😭 My goodness, Lestat's vulnerability was so heartbreaking. As was his fragile pride when he said "not enduring, living" and turned his chin up as if Louis couldn't see just how low he'd fallen. This ep really showed how Louis and Armand's narratives did Lestat so dirty, it was breathtaking. 💔 Also his grief when he said "did you hurt yourself?" Godddd Sam and Jacob are masterful actors. 💔
I can't wait to reread the books to jog my memory (which we can't go into here, I know.)

What an amazing episode!
One of the most cathartic revenge episodes in so many ways.
Everyone brought their A-game and seemed to be having such fun creating it.
The moment when Louis is done with Armand and for the first time he stands up straight was perfect!
And there were tears for that perfect reunion. Really thick man tears.
The vampire Daniel Molloy is such a bad arse.
There were parts that felt rushed so I'm very glad we got an S3.
That reconciliation broke me though; Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson achieve so much through thier trust in the other.

This was a brilliant finale. Just unspeakably excellent. Everyone absolutely knocked it out of the park with their acting, and I loved the return to New Orleans over a century after we first saw it.
Seeing Daniel do interviews about the book was surprisingly exciting. It was always going to end up with the book being published, but it was just perfect how they did it. And the twist! I knew Daniel wasn't getting out of there unscathed, even after what Louis said, but I wasn't expecting him to get turned already and be such a confident vampire. He really has a new lease on life now he doesn't have the guillotine of Parkinson's over his head. I love Jacob saying in the BTS segment that Daniel has become like an annoying little brother to Louis.
And Louis! Jacob Anderson needs all the awards. His increasing confusion at Daniel's questions, then how steely he commanded Armand against hurting Daniel, then his triumphant return home, it was all fantastic. The accent work was once again amazing, and slipping back into his NO accent as he returned was just lovely. It really emphasises that Louis has been denying part of himself all these years. And then his conversation with Lestat! I love the way he called out the other vampires for threatening him at the end, it felt like reconciling with Lestat helped him heal.
(I'm a little sad we didn't get to see the magnolia tree go up in flames, but I love that Paul and Claudia's mementos are in his zen garden now. It's *his* home now, not something Armand has imposed upon him.)
We saw so little of Lestat, but *finally* in the present! The whole reconciliation... Jacob and Sam were both acting their fucking hearts out and it was beautiful. I love how Louis dumped that apology on him and Lestat looked like he had no idea of how to handle any of Louis' emotional sincerity. Truly, the miracles of therapy! It was fantastic how raw Lestat seemed that entire time, let alone how he couldn't take his eyes off Louis at all once he finally looked at him. And how clearly he's remembered what happened when Armand contacted him, let alone how scared he is when he asks (indirectly) if Armand was telling the truth, then finally his devastation over Claudia and failing her.
The narrative flourish of letting Lestat and Louis finish their reunion in a moment of privacy from the viewer was beautiful too. Louis has exposed so much of himself to the audience and to Daniel, it's just a perfect touch that this is the moment he finally gets his privacy with full trust in himself (and Lestat). I was half-expecting Lestat to show up in Louis' apartment after Louis finished talking to the other vampires, but I'm definitely curious to see what his reaction is to the book since it's published *after* their reconciliation and is markedly more sympathetic towards him than the book's version.
Also, I'm not sure what line killed me more - Louis saying "why, Crime Dawg?" or Lestat saying "Siri, pause". Genuinely had to take a moment after Lestat said that because I was laughing so hard. I do love how the series manages to balance its sense of humour with how serious and tender is can be.
Question for the book readers, btw - who is Lestat's new fledgling? I had a look at the wiki and it doesn't quite seem like he matches up with anyone.
Edit: just occurred to me, but I wonder how Louis got Claudia's dress. We last saw Santiago with it, and I don't think I saw Louis grab it at the theatre. >!Maybe the theory that Lestat grabbed it instead was right?!<

First of all, props to Daniel Hart, he outdid himself on the music this episode! (The entire season really, but the soundtrack to the burning of the theater was basically a character in that scene, wow!)
Louis coming into his own and then having that heart to heart with Lestat was beautiful! It really felt like two grieving parents sharing the memory of a lost child, and it was gut-wrenching. So happy we got to see Lestat as-he-is, still flamboyant but also broken, and much less glamorous or nonchalant than others describe him. He seemed almost frightened of Louis, similar to that scene in the movie, but for a completely different reason this time. Stunningly acted by both Sam and Jacob!
I don't know how big Santiago's (pardon me, Francis') balls were, but Daniel's have got to be bigger - pulling out that script in front of Armand, I was almost screaming at my screen - you said you wanted to live, Danny!! What's wrong with you?! I was 50-50 at that point on whether Armand would lounge at him right then and there.
Speaking of the Maitre, the little opportunistic bitch, I still love him, so help me God, but I'm glad he got his hide handed to him, that was much deserved.
Which brings me to the only thing I didn't like in the episode, i.e. turning Daniel offscreen and without the emotional build-up. I get that we'll probably see more of what happened in S3 and that it might not have been "out of spite" entirely, at least Daniel doesn't seem too annoyed with him (?) since he's asking Louis whether they've spoken. But whatever they show us now, be it flashbacks to Devil's minion or the chase in the present, or some combination of both between when Louis left and Armand turned Daniel, it won't have the same emotional payoff which I'm a bit sad about. Don't get me wrong, this was the outcome I wanted, I just didn't want it quite so soon..
That said, vampire Daniel is the Boss and I am \*so\* excited to see where the writers take the story from here.

The Loustat scene at the end of the finale absolutely gutted me. I’ve watched the episode like three times and every time I just cry. You really get a sense of them as parents having lost a daughter who both feel like it was their fault. Which was the exact right choice from the writers. And the performances in that scene were just devastatingly beautiful. The direction to, how it was staged with them just getting closer and closer. And you could feel all the water under the bridge and all the pain and past hurt, but also all of the ways they understand each other like no one else can. And you were just craving that hug so deeply. And then when it finally happens, it was like a punch in the gut. It was immediate waterworks for me.
The ONE thing I wish we got in that scene but didn’t, was for the house to break apart around them and them to fly through the air with the cloud gift, but this time holding each other. >!Though I get that that may have been too early to do, because they aren’t back together as companions… yet.!<
And it was also fascinating seeing Sam Reid play real Lestat and the differences in performance between that and Lestat through Louis and Armand’s eyes. There was a softness and sensitivity there that wasn’t before.
My only critique of the episode is I felt some things were a little rushed at the very end and tied up too neatly. Mainly I was frustrated that Armand turned Daniel off screen and that it didn’t have the tension and drama that it does in the books and almost wished they held that for next season. But alas.
That said, overall I found it to be a really really satisfying finale which I only have some minor minor quibbles about. It was like a 9.7/10 for me 😂. And I can’t wait for season 3.
There's no way that's the end for Daniel and Armand. They're definitely going to explore some DM in some aspects in season 3. I doubt Armand immediately turned Daniel then shipped him back to America. Something freaky's got to happen to that old man 😈.
Oh I am CERTAIN that that’s not the end of Daniel and Armand. I just meant more that I wanted his turning to have more fanfare like it does in the book. But honestly, it’s a quibble.
I mean, it's been 77 years since we last saw him and after he was nearly killed. Time and nearth death can change a person. It could just be character growth
Of course but I also think he was already quite different from what we saw through other people's perspectives especially Louis' and Armand's. Sam insisted we didn't really know the real Lestat.
Beautiful end to a perfect season, to me. And all in all a perfect second season to a great tv series.
I was really worried how they would cover all the points, and once the coven was done, and I still had half of the episode left, I was so happy and worried. But damn the moment Daniel started attacking the "perfect" couple with evidence. Evidence that was discussed so much last week, starting with the almighty vampire Sam, guarding Armand and being able to be at two places at the same time, and the little clues we had from last week episode, the fact that we knew Lestat had the same power Armand used in the theater...this has to be one of my favorite finale reveals of all times.
Lestat and Louis reunion was so well portrayed. Sam and Jacob acting their asses off, the anguish both of them share after losing their daughter, the hug, the hurricane opening the windows as some kind of metaphor of their shared story. The fact we finally have seen Lestat as he is, and he looked so vulnerable, yet funny, and so Lestat. Sam Reid the man you are. I know it'll be hard, but I do hope the actors can get all the awards because portrayals like this deserve it.
I get they had to end the season in a way that could also work as a series finale, in case it wouldn't get renewed, but now that it has I do hope we get to explore more of Armand and Daniel next season. Daniel speaks of Armand as if something more went down in Dubai once Louis left, and not just as if Armand had turned him right away and then left.
And while I was kind of waiting for Lestat to show up in Dubai at the end, in a way I also loved the series ended with Louis owning his vampire self, and that "I own the night" amazing.
I know it's going to be long, probably one more year, but I am so ready for season 3.

“Insane vengeful ramblings and scheming - *MEOW* - Insane vengeful ramblings and scheming” I can’t with that, I laughed so hard.
Louis’ one night “kill bill” murder spree. And his take down of Santiago. Brilliant.
Confronting Armand who blatantly lied like the *gremlin* (love Lestat for that) he is. Then confronting Lestat and him not immediately stating what he did and Louis punishing him by being with Armand.
Only satisfying thing about that is Armand had to live with the fact Louis was only with him to spite Lestat. That’s gotta hurt his insecure little gremlin butt.
And oh man! Daniel throwing down that script and taking the house with it. Armand’s face, like damn you could see his world shattering and he *could not prevent it* Suck it! Well he did suck Daniel. The petty little gremlin.
Let’s not forget Lestat’s “Claudia is strong than you can comprehend!” Oh my gods, this man loved her even if he had a hard time showing it (that we know of)
Lestat and Louis’ reunion. There are no words to describe the brilliances of that scene. See Lestat break down about Claudia’s death, I cried. Their embrace and Louis thanking him🥹.

All this was in large part thanks to the acting. It was absolutely brilliant. Can’t express it enough.
God this show is just so special to me. To have a genre show like this with a Black queer lead, that’s THIS well-written, well-acted, well-shot. I’m just so grateful.
Anyone else gonna rewatch the entire series now to see it in the context we were shown tonight and look for clues? I so am.

Louis’ calling Santiago to him was such a stunning scene, the direction of this show is so meticulous and gorgeous.
THE reunion at the end had me in tears. Such sensitive acting by both. And Lestat talking about going on ‘tour’! We know king.
Finally, Daniel!!!!! I could sense his vamp swag as soon as his tv spot started. Wow. Will we be getting Armand and Daniel finally?
Lastly, Claudia’s dress and Paul’s portrait. Damn it Louis 😭
OK, so: hot theory, but I feel like the last five minutes were written/shot just in case this show didn't renew for another season, so that it could feel reasonably wrapped-up if they didn't come back.
I'm not complaining about that, really, but it felt like a lot of stuff got sped-through after the New Orleans sequence. After all of the build-up around Daniel being in danger and Armand not wanting to turn someone into a vampire, having that happen off-screen feels...odd. Especially since this is presumably taking place a while later (since the book has been written/edited/published and has now sold millions of copies).
I'm not mad about it, I totally get why they'd do it like this, but I hope there's a Season 3 flashback episode that lays out exactly what happened. When Louis threatens Armand not to hurt Daniel, I really did not get a vibe that the next thing to happen would be Armand attacking/vamping Daniel.
I agree, but honestly I appreciate the effort. I’ve been burned by many a show that ends on a cliffhanger hoping it will get them a new season, and then it doesn’t and the show ends on a cliffhanger forever.
I definitely think they’re coming back in Season 3 - I also agree with your theory! I got that vibe with the ending, like they definitely wanted to leave some threads open but in case of cancellation there would still be a decent closure
Idk he did call out Louis' flourishes of Lestat as being dishonest depictions of an unhealthy relationship in season 1. "White master, Black follower, but equal in the dark" or something like that, and talking about how abuse victims protect their abusers.
I would say he's more of an anti when it comes to Armand/Louis than a Loustat shipper.
I would call him a Claudia Stan tho lol. Pointing out how all the male figures in her life failed her and even saying he likes her

Seeing Lestat FINALLY free from other people’s point of view, and the scene together with Louis, TOTALLY EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED ME. I SOBBED SO LOUDLY. I can’t even form other coherent thoughts about the episode and all the shit that went down. What an incredible season of television. It’s been an honor!!!!!!

I think it was my favorite episode of the season, I don't have many details to say, just that they knew how to end the season perfectly and I can now rest assured waiting for the 3rd, thanks for everything amc!
My thoughts throughout my first watch (out of many to come):
- I love Louis’ verbal edge in this moment.

HOW is it that a gothic series about melodramatic vampires is the best portrayal of thought and mind control (and escaping it) I’ve ever seen?

I wasn’t expecting that twist at the end!! Armand said he loved Louis and wanted him more then anything in the world !! Yet he was going to let him be killed. It makes me wonder did Armand ever love him at one point or just used Louis to hurt Lestat for not wanting him?
I personally don't think they're back together. They needed closure by way of forgiveness, but I never took that to mean they are a couple again. As Louis said, "I'm companion enough for myself now."

Yes, I am hurting. I’ve watched the episode again and I still ugly cried my way through it. Please give Jacob and Sam their awards already. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their conversation about Claudia’s death and Louis finding out decades too late that Lestat was the one who saved him was positively heartbreaking.
A 17th century vampire standing in the room wearing one of his old gowns saying ‘Siri, pause’ is something I never knew I needed in my life.
Nimble-minded back then, still now. Daniel Molloy pulled out all of the receipts and ended Armand’s whole career of being a master manipulator. I’m surprised that Armand had planned on killing Louis, I did not see that coming. So was guilt the reason he stayed with Louis for over seventy years?
They way Armand talked about vampires screaming when they’re about to die was so cold. Like, could you at least pretend you had some sympathy that your boyfriend was locked up and left for dead?! Don’t worry Armand, I’m still rooting for you, wherever you are now.
I wonder what sort of deal Daniel made with the Talamasca, I’ve got a theory on it. As for him being a vampire, I love that they did that. I can’t wait for more Armand and Daniel storyline, and for him to meet Lestat. I hope they actually print that book because I’m definitely buying it.

This whole episode was so beautifully scripted, acted, and the music was a wonderful component. I’m going to go to ground now, please wake me up when season three is out.
Omg this episode was so good! Louis was really going through it this episode and his little meow 😻 was funny asf. The gremlin being exposed had me screaming at my laptop like finally, I can’t believe he took credit for everything, you scheming mf🤬 It makes sense now why lestat looked at him when discussing nikki’s death.
Santiago, you’re a vile VILEEE what he said was disgusting and I love Louis for exposing him having a lil Willie 🤣 and his whole villain arc. The scene between Louis and lestat was beautiful, I cried so much and I’m happy Louis apologised too him but lestat it’s been 77 years why didn’t you say anything, you could’ve sent a post card. I’m happy Daniels book is a successful and that he’s alive, he was turned but I wonder where his maker is hiding and if we’ll get the devils minion story line.
My only complaint is not seeing Louis and lestat get back together in the end, I know they’re end game but I really wanted lestat at the Dubai tower with Louis threatening the other vampires! But at the same time I understand, Louis has never really been single and he needs time to himself so he can heal.
Yeah that’s the thing. I def hear you on the disappointment. But the whole arc for Louis in this season is leading toward ‘I don’t need a companion’ and simply being at peace by himself. I think him jumping immediately back into Lestat’s arms would’ve diminished that arc. And also frankly, there’s SO much water under the bridge between them that they need to unpack. But yeah, >!they do eventually get back together in the books and I expect the show will eventually do the same.!<
I am aware I watch IWTV with Devil's Minion goggles on, but I have so many questions about the ending:
1. Louis says "I'm sorry you were burdened out of spite", which Daniel neither confirms nor denies in his response. So...*was* he made a vampire spitefully? Or was it for some other reason?
2. Daniel doesn't seem to be too upset about being a vampire. Actually, he seems to be having a grand old time! He only seems mad when he asks Louis if he's heard from Armand, and Louis says no. Which makes me think he's not upset he was turned, just upset that Armand vanished, maybe?
3. Does anyone know Daniel is a vampire, other than Louis and Armand? It seems like it should be a bigger deal to other vampires that one of their own published a book about them, but the anger only seems directed at Louis. Was Daniel turned to protect him, maybe, in case that anger turned towards him?
4. So like what's the over-under that Armand is already stalking Daniel, and Daniel can't tell because fledglings can't hear their makers?
Anyway I need a full flashback episode showing what happened, fingers crossed

i think he was telling the truth when he said he couldn’t trust that louis loved him and would stay with him. he decided he would rather chose the coven and let louis die than chose louis and risk ending up alone. what confuses me more is the decision to then let louis burn down the coven, nothing happened that would have changed his belief that louis would eventually leave him. to be honest, armand doesn’t really make sense anymore lol.
my theory is that the reason why armand didn't save louis was bc he knew lestat would do it and that way lestat wouldn't have any energy left to save/help claudia. lestat probably went to paris and accepted to participate on the trial to make sure louis would live, but louis mistook it as lestat looking for revenge. armand orchestrated everything but lied about his actions, he made it seem like he couldn't control the coven but he actually planned everything to get rid of claudia and have louis to himself. lestat and the coven took all the blame while armand made himself seem weak and out powered. that's why louis kind of forgave him, bc while armand admitted he initially sided with the coven when they got abducted, louis truly thought armand ultimately repented and used all his strength to save him but that it wasn't enough to help claudia.

Who woke him up?? If Armand woke him up (Louis said he tasted his blood and knew it was him) then did both him and Lestat save him technically? Why did Armand decide to save him? What made him change his mind? Was lestat planning on waking Louis up but just not yet and Armand just beat him to it?
I buy that Armand changed his mind because he knew Louis was nearing a final death. It's one thing to just have him executed and give him a quick(ish) death, but to languish? I think it was too much for him so he saved him.
I spent a decent 45 minutes to an hour pacing around my home after this episode, just thinking about it listening to the soundtrack. SO MUCH HAPPENED. And I loved every second of it. I can't believe the show is over now for 1 to 2 years. I can't wait for it to officially air so the post-episode interviews come out. I need to hear the creators/actors break it down. Especially with Armand/Daniel.
Okay I loved it😭Real Lestat’s accent was so thick! My favorite new theory is that whenever Lestat’s thick was accent, it was a more legit memory whereas evertime it would slip and sound less heavy, it was Louis misremembering because Louis’ mind doesn’t think in Lestat’s accent and he can’t quite recreate it.
I have 2 major questions though; I’m sure they’ll be answered in season 3 but I really wish we got to know now.
I understand why Lestat likely went along with the play once he realized they intended Louis to die (to save Louis). The coven summoned Lestat for their trial. I am with Sam Reid on his take on why Lestat was there.

And to me Louis wouldn't ever ask Lestat because as we've seen this season, especially in the first episode of this season, Louis was so guilt ridden that he felt Lestat would kill him. He went to Lestat's solicitor to see if he had heard from Lestat because Louis was still worried that Lestat was going to get his revenge (even though hearing that Roget had not heard from Lestat made Louis feel sad because that lent credence to the notion that Lestat was actually dead by his hands).

Armand didn't care about the coven. He barely cared about them when he met Louis and Claudia. He was driven by duty to lead them. Armand loved Louis, ultimately, just angry that Louis kept putting him in these situations where he (Armand) was in danger by the coven, and Louis didn't care how that impacted him. And angry at himself for loving/needing someone so desperately that he put up with it.
Did you catch that Lestat called Armand the gremlin too (scene in the tower), and it was what Louis and Dreamstat were calling him. How would Lestat know about that nickname?
To me it looks like he's already wearing bright blue vampire contacts (or CGI) when he first takes his glasses off. The color changes when he asks about Armand, so maybe some kind of blood connection thing? Pretty funny (and potentially awkward) if they change every time he thinks of him.
Too bad it's over. Such a touching, sensitive, beautiful series.

I’m glad people are here because Twitter is really hating the episode and being imo a bit dramatic.
Personally, I don’t think it was perfect - the pacing felt rushed, I am slightly baffled at the Armand twist (do you think they’re going to explore that more deeply?!) and I’m unsure about what they’re planning to explore in S3 and what they’ve considered finished for now - that being said, I liked more than I didn’t!
Louis and Lestat’s reunion was absolutely gorgeous. Louis’ initial insanity was brilliantly portrayed, Vampire Daniel is everything! Louis coming into his own with more confidence, the hint at future Devil’s Minion, it’s all so exciting!
It just felt like an awkward finale, it might be a stretch but I wonder if the writer’s strike affected it somewhat. Regardless, that doesn’t change how absolutely phenomenal this season as a whole was and I’m glad to see some more level-headed responses 😅

One tiny thing I loved from this episode was Louis touring his old neighborhood and seeing how history skewed to convey his old self as this predatory hustling black man. Nobody in present day questioned how a man so supposedly dubious had come to know this wealthy French-man? No mention of why he and his child bride shared a home with a white man? Even the fact that it was a black New Orleans native telling this story adds an extra layer to how well this show understands race politics in the US.
AND The way Louis's accent just came back stronger in the car with the cab driver, the code switching!!!

Man Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid are just amazing really, their performance across the series but this episode specifically, portraying the kind of hurt that doesn't even exist in real life. I just totally love the way they and the show writers developed Louis and Lestat up until this climax of forgiveness and self-reproach
The final exchange of words between them just makes me teary as hell. Louis thanking Lestat, Lestat pouring out all his true feelings and regrets. Aside from those two, Molloy was also so GOATed, doing what is so in character of him to question the truth and find out the actual scoop. Armand as well, he sold himself as the victims of the events so well, the facade of being calculated and experienced all crumbles away.

The pacing and tone of this episode felt off. I think the show outdoes the movie in almost every aspect, but I preferred the movie version of Louis' revenge. I've enjoyed how they expanded Santiago's character for the show and I hoped he'd get a more satisfying death. The jazz music in the background as Louis mocked him for having a small penis was.. a choice. Just five minutes ago we had Louis plotting his revenge, talking to corpses, meowing at dead animals. I felt like that fury and madness was lost when he actually got to execute his plan.
Louis and Armand going to Lestat in Marius' lair felt.. lackluster. We went from "I'll kill you" to "I have Akasha's blood" to "I'm dating Armand now" way too quick. Especially considering how just two minutes ago we had a very angry Louis telling Armand he'd never forgive him.
Daniel pulling out the script and exposing Armand felt so good. Watching Armand's expressions as the truth came out was amazing. You could cut the tension in the air as Louis read through the script, Daniel went off on Armand, and Armand lost all hope of ever salvaging things in real time. Brilliant acting all around. Yet again, the entire scene felt rushed. We have built up to this moment the entire season, and after 77 years of being manipulated Louis just end things with a punch. He then goes "I am leaving and you're not going to hurt Daniel" before he just.. abandons Daniel there? Armand was just exposed for being the mastermind of Claudia and Madeleine's executions, and we found out that he had originally intended for Louis to die with them. Why on earth would Louis trust him to obey his word and not hurt Daniel? Literally five minutes after Daniel exposed him and ended their relationship too. Surely he could have stayed in Dubai until Daniel packed his bags and left.
Louis going back to New Orleans and seeing Lestat's lackey hunting for rats during the tour.. again.. rushed. You're telling me there's been this vampire chasing rats using his vampire powers literally 5ft from large groups of people and nobody noticed? Not a single bad thing to say about Louis and Lestat's reunion. Give Jacob and Sam all the awards now. That entire scene was so well made. I was literally crying as they talked about their feelings and hugged each other. Scenes like this is exactly what I've come to expect from this show. I wish the rest of the episode had this energy.
Daniel's interview about his book and his only defence against being called a fraud being "I've sold millions of copies of this book" felt very out of character for him. This is the same man who pulled out the receipts against a 500 year old vampire, called him out on his bullshit, and referred to him by his slave name as he did so. You're telling me he had the nerve to do that as a mere mortal and the best he could do as a vampire was "I am a bestseller. Fuck you"?
Overall it was not a bad episode. However, after seeing how the show expanded on things and took their time delivering us meticulously crafted slow burners packed full of emotion, it all felt kind of rushed. We went from some of the most emotionally intense episodes in the last few weeks to Santiago's small dick and massive balls, party DJ Sam with a mask, "Siri pause", and "fuck you I'm a bestseller". This would've been so much better if it was split into two episodes instead of being crammed into a single episode. The cast was superb as always and I am looking forward to what season 3 will bring.

I too felt underwhelmed by Louis’ revenge especially after Santiago’s repulsive comments about Claudia.
I wasn’t too bothered by Daniel’s interview because he was blatantly insulted by the interviewer lol, he did say it was non fiction and based on real documentation but it was clear the interviewer didn’t read the book nor care to have a good faith discussion, and Daniel can be a huge asshole sometimes just for the sake of it, but I may be overthinking it haha.
I hope they revisit Armand because there’s no way that’s the last we see of him right! And I agree, Louis leaving Daniel with Armand was bizarre, like they needed to speed run him meeting Lestat.
Agreed on him and Lestat’s reunion, perfect and powerful and the best scene of the episode.
Overall I agree the biggest issue of the episode was pacing, if it was divided into two episodes everything would have felt much more natural. I hope there’s a reasonable explanation - I believe in comparison to how phenomenal the rest of S2 was, this can probably be attributed to either the strike or being unsure of a renewal. Either way, still a phenomenal season despite a slightly clunky, mediocre finale.
I also preferred the film's version of when Louis saw Lestat again in new Orleans. Well, more like the state Tom cruise's Lestat was in . How bad he needed Louis back .
loustat is the only ship ever (i won't take criticism) that being said the finale was wrapped up wonderfully whilst still leaving threads for season 3 which I am eagerly waiting for.

Gods, what a finale!!!! The sky is the limit for this series, because each episode is more perfect than the previous, and it was already quite perfect since the beginning!All in all, probably the best TV adaptation of any book I have ever seen in my life, everyone involved clearly loves Rice's universe, characters and lore, and it shows!
It has been a cathartic experience watching this season, with all the angst, terror, sadness and looming catastrophe, until the final episode where the masks finally fall, we get the reunion we wished for since ep 1 (which had me in tears), and we welcome a new vampire to the fold (Better late than never Daniel xoxo)
This is truly an fantastic series, and I will definitely re watch both seasons multiple times!

Daniel Molloy is amazing and long suffering. I really hope we get a peek into what happened between him and Armand that led to his turning. Did they stay together for a while after? Where's Armand currently in present day? Lestat and Louis have so much chemistry in every scene together that it feels incredibly intimate. The scene in New Orleans was intense but beautiful and Lestat seemed both the same character we know and also a completely different character. We're so used to seeing him through other's POV that seeing the real him felt a bit strange. Sam played the differences incredibly. Can't wait for S3. Lots to think about from that finale as it's opened so many storyline doors.
I assume they are at minimum in contact because Daniel says 'I 'm guessing you haven't heard from my maker? Fucking asshole' meaning he knows Armand was meant to tell Louis something.
I took that more as Armand being missing and no one can get in contact with him rather than a message that needs to be sent. i.e. Daniel assuming that Louis hasn't heard from Armand means that Daniel's currently looking for Armand but it's been long enough that he has no leads on where Armand is and he doesn't figure he's going to get one any time soon. Also, they probably both (Daniel and Louis) figure that Armand wouldn't contact Louis directly anyway, after everything that went down between them, but Daniel can't help double checking.

Daniel molloy is the MVP of this show. I love how he was scared throughout his stay in Dubai but regardless, he was on a mission to pull Louis out of this abusive relationship and he did exactly that. Can't wait to see more of his vampiric adventures and hopefully more about his turning by Armand. Also, the Louis-Lestat reunion broke me. Man did I start crying. Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid, such incredibly great actors and they have an even greater chemistry. I also love that the real Lestat is much softer. I just wanted to give him a hug. Poor guys, both of them. I like that they left their ending ambiguous. What a show. Holy shit, Interview with the Vampire is one of the best shows ever and I can't wait for it to blow up when it starts streaming on Netflix.
I thought that Daniel Molloy would get somehow rejuvenated once he gets turned into a vampire. But I think I like the message or the intention of showing us old looking vampires who can still thrive and be full of life. Best example: *60-year-old Ben Daniels as Santiago* We are so used to seeing very conventionally hot, youthful looking vamps as the main characters in mainstream media/pop culture.

I wouldn’t say that the Lestat we see in present day is the ‘real’ one. Plus we see that version of Lestat after ~80 years of Louis and Claudia ‘killing’ him. A lot can happen in 80 years while you’re dealing with vampire loneliness. I believe this also because Sam Reid said that in all the years Lestat was in the coffin, he contemplated and came out a bit different. like he’s not gonna pop out after a decade and go back to his old ways again. I trust the actors’ sayings cuz they seem to really know the full story what we haven’t seen yet, and they even subtly spoil / hint at a characters true intentions that we haven’t seen yet in the post-episode talks.
Holy shit, Daniel. That dude has some balls. His smug "gotcha" look at Armand was amazing. Also god, that scene at Lestat's house. 😭😭😭 My goodness, Lestat's vulnerability was so heartbreaking. As was his fragile pride when he said "not enduring, living" and turned his chin up as if Louis couldn't see just how low he'd fallen. This ep really showed how Louis and Armand's narratives did Lestat so dirty, it was breathtaking. 💔 Also his grief when he said "did you hurt yourself?" Godddd Sam and Jacob are masterful actors. 💔 I can't wait to reread the books to jog my memory (which we can't go into here, I know.)

What an amazing episode! One of the most cathartic revenge episodes in so many ways. Everyone brought their A-game and seemed to be having such fun creating it. The moment when Louis is done with Armand and for the first time he stands up straight was perfect! And there were tears for that perfect reunion. Really thick man tears. The vampire Daniel Molloy is such a bad arse.

This was a brilliant finale. Just unspeakably excellent. Everyone absolutely knocked it out of the park with their acting, and I loved the return to New Orleans over a century after we first saw it. Seeing Daniel do interviews about the book was surprisingly exciting. It was always going to end up with the book being published, but it was just perfect how they did it. And the twist! I knew Daniel wasn't getting out of there unscathed, even after what Louis said, but I wasn't expecting him to get turned already and be such a confident vampire. He really has a new lease on life now he doesn't have the guillotine of Parkinson's over his head. I love Jacob saying in the BTS segment that Daniel has become like an annoying little brother to Louis. And Louis! Jacob Anderson needs all the awards. His increasing confusion at Daniel's questions, then how steely he commanded Armand against hurting Daniel, then his triumphant return home, it was all fantastic. The accent work was once again amazing, and slipping back into his NO accent as he returned was just lovely. It really emphasises that Louis has been denying part of himself all these years. And then his conversation with Lestat! I love the way he called out the other vampires for threatening him at the end, it felt like reconciling with Lestat helped him heal. (I'm a little sad we didn't get to see the magnolia tree go up in flames, but I love that Paul and Claudia's mementos are in his zen garden now. It's *his* home now, not something Armand has imposed upon him.) We saw so little of Lestat, but *finally* in the present! The whole reconciliation... Jacob and Sam were both acting their fucking hearts out and it was beautiful. I love how Louis dumped that apology on him and Lestat looked like he had no idea of how to handle any of Louis' emotional sincerity. Truly, the miracles of therapy! It was fantastic how raw Lestat seemed that entire time, let alone how he couldn't take his eyes off Louis at all once he finally looked at him. And how clearly he's remembered what happened when Armand contacted him, let alone how scared he is when he asks (indirectly) if Armand was telling the truth, then finally his devastation over Claudia and failing her. The narrative flourish of letting Lestat and Louis finish their reunion in a moment of privacy from the viewer was beautiful too. Louis has exposed so much of himself to the audience and to Daniel, it's just a perfect touch that this is the moment he finally gets his privacy with full trust in himself (and Lestat). I was half-expecting Lestat to show up in Louis' apartment after Louis finished talking to the other vampires, but I'm definitely curious to see what his reaction is to the book since it's published *after* their reconciliation and is markedly more sympathetic towards him than the book's version. Also, I'm not sure what line killed me more - Louis saying "why, Crime Dawg?" or Lestat saying "Siri, pause". Genuinely had to take a moment after Lestat said that because I was laughing so hard. I do love how the series manages to balance its sense of humour with how serious and tender is can be. Question for the book readers, btw - who is Lestat's new fledgling? I had a look at the wiki and it doesn't quite seem like he matches up with anyone. Edit: just occurred to me, but I wonder how Louis got Claudia's dress. We last saw Santiago with it, and I don't think I saw Louis grab it at the theatre. >!Maybe the theory that Lestat grabbed it instead was right?!<
Regarding Claudia's dress - during his rampage Louis grabbed it from Santiago's dressing table, same with her diaries.

First of all, props to Daniel Hart, he outdid himself on the music this episode! (The entire season really, but the soundtrack to the burning of the theater was basically a character in that scene, wow!) Louis coming into his own and then having that heart to heart with Lestat was beautiful! It really felt like two grieving parents sharing the memory of a lost child, and it was gut-wrenching. So happy we got to see Lestat as-he-is, still flamboyant but also broken, and much less glamorous or nonchalant than others describe him. He seemed almost frightened of Louis, similar to that scene in the movie, but for a completely different reason this time. Stunningly acted by both Sam and Jacob! I don't know how big Santiago's (pardon me, Francis') balls were, but Daniel's have got to be bigger - pulling out that script in front of Armand, I was almost screaming at my screen - you said you wanted to live, Danny!! What's wrong with you?! I was 50-50 at that point on whether Armand would lounge at him right then and there. Speaking of the Maitre, the little opportunistic bitch, I still love him, so help me God, but I'm glad he got his hide handed to him, that was much deserved. Which brings me to the only thing I didn't like in the episode, i.e. turning Daniel offscreen and without the emotional build-up. I get that we'll probably see more of what happened in S3 and that it might not have been "out of spite" entirely, at least Daniel doesn't seem too annoyed with him (?) since he's asking Louis whether they've spoken. But whatever they show us now, be it flashbacks to Devil's minion or the chase in the present, or some combination of both between when Louis left and Armand turned Daniel, it won't have the same emotional payoff which I'm a bit sad about. Don't get me wrong, this was the outcome I wanted, I just didn't want it quite so soon.. That said, vampire Daniel is the Boss and I am \*so\* excited to see where the writers take the story from here.

finally watched in full and daniel calling out the manipulations and the bullshit was EVERYTHING!
The absolute glee on his face as he looked at Armand was satisfying as hell.

I’ve watched the episode like three times and every time I just cry. You really get a sense of them as parents having lost a daughter who both feel like it was their fault. Which was the exact right choice from the writers. And the performances in that scene were just devastatingly beautiful. The direction to, how it was staged with them just getting closer and closer. And you could feel all the water under the bridge and all the pain and past hurt, but also all of the ways they understand each other like no one else can. And you were just craving that hug so deeply. And then when it finally happens, it was like a punch in the gut. It was immediate waterworks for me. The ONE thing I wish we got in that scene but didn’t, was for the house to break apart around them and them to fly through the air with the cloud gift, but this time holding each other. >!Though I get that that may have been too early to do, because they aren’t back together as companions… yet.!< And it was also fascinating seeing Sam Reid play real Lestat and the differences in performance between that and Lestat through Louis and Armand’s eyes. There was a softness and sensitivity there that wasn’t before. My only critique of the episode is I felt some things were a little rushed at the very end and tied up too neatly. Mainly I was frustrated that Armand turned Daniel off screen and that it didn’t have the tension and drama that it does in the books and almost wished they held that for next season. But alas. That said, overall I found it to be a really really satisfying finale which I only have some minor minor quibbles about. It was like a 9.7/10 for me 😂. And I can’t wait for season 3.
There's no way that's the end for Daniel and Armand. They're definitely going to explore some DM in some aspects in season 3. I doubt Armand immediately turned Daniel then shipped him back to America. Something freaky's got to happen to that old man 😈.

Beautiful end to a perfect season, to me. And all in all a perfect second season to a great tv series. I was really worried how they would cover all the points, and once the coven was done, and I still had half of the episode left, I was so happy and worried. But damn the moment Daniel started attacking the "perfect" couple with evidence. Evidence that was discussed so much last week, starting with the almighty vampire Sam, guarding Armand and being able to be at two places at the same time, and the little clues we had from last week episode, the fact that we knew Lestat had the same power Armand used in the theater...this has to be one of my favorite finale reveals of all times. Lestat and Louis reunion was so well portrayed. Sam and Jacob acting their asses off, the anguish both of them share after losing their daughter, the hug, the hurricane opening the windows as some kind of metaphor of their shared story. The fact we finally have seen Lestat as he is, and he looked so vulnerable, yet funny, and so Lestat. Sam Reid the man you are. I know it'll be hard, but I do hope the actors can get all the awards because portrayals like this deserve it. I get they had to end the season in a way that could also work as a series finale, in case it wouldn't get renewed, but now that it has I do hope we get to explore more of Armand and Daniel next season. Daniel speaks of Armand as if something more went down in Dubai once Louis left, and not just as if Armand had turned him right away and then left. And while I was kind of waiting for Lestat to show up in Dubai at the end, in a way I also loved the series ended with Louis owning his vampire self, and that "I own the night" amazing. I know it's going to be long, probably one more year, but I am so ready for season 3.

There was so much in this episode, like god damn. “Insane vengeful ramblings and scheming - *MEOW* - Insane vengeful ramblings and scheming” I can’t with that, I laughed so hard. Louis’ one night “kill bill” murder spree. And his take down of Santiago. Brilliant. Confronting Armand who blatantly lied like the *gremlin* (love Lestat for that) he is. Then confronting Lestat and him not immediately stating what he did and Louis punishing him by being with Armand. Only satisfying thing about that is Armand had to live with the fact Louis was only with him to spite Lestat. That’s gotta hurt his insecure little gremlin butt. And oh man! Daniel throwing down that script and taking the house with it. Armand’s face, like damn you could see his world shattering and he *could not prevent it* Suck it! Well he did suck Daniel. The petty little gremlin. Let’s not forget Lestat’s “Claudia is strong than you can comprehend!” Oh my gods, this man loved her even if he had a hard time showing it (that we know of) Lestat and Louis’ reunion. There are no words to describe the brilliances of that scene. See Lestat break down about Claudia’s death, I cried. Their embrace and Louis thanking him🥹. Louis telling the muttering vamps to come at him. *chef’s kiss* All this was in large part thanks to the acting. It was absolutely brilliant. Can’t express it enough.

OK, so: hot theory, but I feel like the last five minutes were written/shot just in case this show didn't renew for another season, so that it could feel reasonably wrapped-up if they didn't come back. I'm not complaining about that, really, but it felt like a lot of stuff got sped-through after the New Orleans sequence. After all of the build-up around Daniel being in danger and Armand not wanting to turn someone into a vampire, having that happen off-screen feels...odd. Especially since this is presumably taking place a while later (since the book has been written/edited/published and has now sold millions of copies). I'm not mad about it, I totally get why they'd do it like this, but I hope there's a Season 3 flashback episode that lays out exactly what happened. When Louis threatens Armand not to hurt Daniel, I really did not get a vibe that the next thing to happen would be Armand attacking/vamping Daniel.

I'm screaming!! The inconsistency in season 1 with lestat speaking telepathically to louis has come back!! Sam is daft punk, lmfaooo Daniel is calling everything out, he's literally the audience, I love this so much Edit: everyone was coming up with theories as to why lestat could still speak to louis and it was just the showrunner planting seeds! God, the writers are so brilliant.

I’ve heard it’s harder to keep the character’s accent in very emotional scenes.) - The experience of having your whole worldview turn upside down and suddenly viewing everything through a different lens is SO relatable because it’s so well made!!! HOW is it that a gothic series about melodramatic vampires is the best portrayal of thought and mind control (and escaping it) I’ve ever seen? - Lestat remembering the date to the minute. 😭 - I have no more comments for the reunion part as I Am In Tears. - nice glasses and manicure Daniel… wait. - Paul’s portrait & Claudia’s dress. - BADASS LOUIS IS BACK!!! - I’m so excited to see someone knowledgeable explain the significance of that new painting.

I personally don't think they're back together. They needed closure by way of forgiveness, but I never took that to mean they are a couple again. As Louis said, "I'm companion enough for myself now."

“Did you hurt yourself?” Yes, I am hurting. I’ve watched the episode again and I still ugly cried my way through it. Please give Jacob and Sam their awards already. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their conversation about Claudia’s death and Louis finding out decades too late that Lestat was the one who saved him was positively heartbreaking. A 17th century vampire standing in the room wearing one of his old gowns saying ‘Siri, pause’ is something I never knew I needed in my life. Nimble-minded back then, still now. Daniel Molloy pulled out all of the receipts and ended Armand’s whole career of being a master manipulator. I’m surprised that Armand had planned on killing Louis, I did not see that coming. So was guilt the reason he stayed with Louis for over seventy years? They way Armand talked about vampires screaming when they’re about to die was so cold. Like, could you at least pretend you had some sympathy that your boyfriend was locked up and left for dead?! Don’t worry Armand, I’m still rooting for you, wherever you are now. I wonder what sort of deal Daniel made with the Talamasca, I’ve got a theory on it. As for him being a vampire, I love that they did that. I can’t wait for more Armand and Daniel storyline, and for him to meet Lestat. I hope they actually print that book because I’m definitely buying it. Sam being an informant for the Talamasca who went on to become a DJ, love that for him. This whole episode was so beautifully scripted, acted, and the music was a wonderful component. I’m going to go to ground now, please wake me up when season three is out.

My only complaint is not seeing Louis and lestat get back together in the end, I know they’re end game but I really wanted lestat at the Dubai tower with Louis threatening the other vampires! But at the same time I understand, Louis has never really been single and he needs time to himself so he can heal.
Yeah that’s the thing. I def hear you on the disappointment. But the whole arc for Louis in this season is leading toward ‘I don’t need a companion’ and simply being at peace by himself. I think him jumping immediately back into Lestat’s arms would’ve diminished that arc. And also frankly, there’s SO much water under the bridge between them that they need to unpack. I am aware I watch IWTV with Devil's Minion goggles on, but I have so many questions about the ending: 1. Louis says "I'm sorry you were burdened out of spite", which Daniel neither confirms nor denies in his response. So...*was* he made a vampire spitefully? Or was it for some other reason? 2. Daniel doesn't seem to be too upset about being a vampire. Actually, he seems to be having a grand old time! He only seems mad when he asks Louis if he's heard from Armand, and Louis says no. Which makes me think he's not upset he was turned, just upset that Armand vanished, maybe? 3. Does anyone know Daniel is a vampire, other than Louis and Armand? It seems like it should be a bigger deal to other vampires that one of their own published a book about them, but the anger only seems directed at Louis. Was Daniel turned to protect him, maybe, in case that anger turned towards him? 4. So like what's the over-under that Armand is already stalking Daniel, and Daniel can't tell because fledglings can't hear their makers? Anyway I need a full flashback episode showing what happened, fingers crossed

i think he was telling the truth when he said he couldn’t trust that louis loved him and would stay with him. he decided he would rather chose the coven and let louis die than chose louis and risk ending up alone. what confuses me more is the decision to then let louis burn down the coven, nothing happened that would have changed his belief that louis would eventually leave him. to be honest, armand doesn’t really make sense anymore lol.
my theory is that the reason why armand didn't save louis was bc he knew lestat would do it and that way lestat wouldn't have any energy left to save/help claudia. lestat probably went to paris and accepted to participate on the trial to make sure louis would live, but louis mistook it as lestat looking for revenge. armand orchestrated everything but lied about his actions, he made it seem like he couldn't control the coven but he actually planned everything to get rid of claudia and have louis to himself. lestat and the coven took all the blame while armand made himself seem weak and out powered. that's why louis kind of forgave him, bc while armand admitted he initially sided with the coven when they got abducted, louis truly thought armand ultimately repented and used all his strength to save him but that it wasn't enough to help claudia. idk that's what i thought judging from lestat's behavior at the trial, he didn't seem like he wanted to be there

I buy that Armand changed his mind because he knew Louis was nearing a final death. It's one thing to just have him executed and give him a quick(ish) death, but to languish? I think it was too much for him so he saved him.
I spent a decent 45 minutes to an hour pacing around my home after this episode, just thinking about it listening to the soundtrack. SO MUCH HAPPENED. And I loved every second of it. I can't believe the show is over now for 1 to 2 years. I can't wait for it to officially air so the post-episode interviews come out. I need to hear the creators/actors break it down. Especially with Armand/Daniel.

My favorite new theory is that whenever Lestat’s thick was accent, it was a more legit memory whereas evertime it would slip and sound less heavy, it was Louis misremembering because Louis’ mind doesn’t think in Lestat’s accent and he can’t quite recreate it. I have 2 major questions though; I’m sure they’ll be answered in season 3 but I really wish we got to know now. I understand why Lestat likely went along with the play once he realized they intended Louis to die (to save Louis). But we still don’t know why he was in Paris in the first place - why was he, and why didn’t Louis ask? >! Louis and Claudia are on trial for his murder, and they're going to be killed because he just knows the way that these vampires work. There's no way he's not going to be there.." And to me Louis wouldn't ever ask Lestat because as we've seen this season, especially in the first episode of this season, Louis was so guilt ridden that he felt Lestat would kill him. And angry at himself for loving/needing someone so desperately that he put up with it.
Did you catch that Lestat called Armand the gremlin too (scene in the tower), and it was what Louis and Dreamstat were calling him. How would Lestat know about that nickname?
He wouldn't. More likely it's something like Louis remembered him calling Armand that and it ended up mixed into his memories of Dreamstat.

They switched from his natural colour to his new colour; a lighter shade of his maker's.
To me it looks like he's already wearing bright blue vampire contacts (or CGI) when he first takes his glasses off. The color changes when he asks about Armand, so maybe some kind of blood connection thing? Pretty funny (and potentially awkward) if they change every time he thinks of him.

It should be the 3rd season next year, maybe in May. I'm really looking forward to it. Finally, many people will see how wonderful and good Lestat is.
I’m glad people are here because Twitter is really hating the episode and being imo a bit dramatic. Personally, I don’t think it was perfect - the pacing felt rushed, I am slightly baffled at the Armand twist (do you think they’re going to explore that more deeply?!) and I’m unsure about what they’re planning to explore in S3 and what they’ve considered finished for now - that being said, I liked more than I didn’t! Louis and Lestat’s reunion was absolutely gorgeous. Louis’ initial insanity was brilliantly portrayed, Vampire Daniel is everything! Louis coming into his own with more confidence, the hint at future Devil’s Minion, it’s all so exciting! It just felt like an awkward finale, it might be a stretch but I wonder if the writer’s strike affected it somewhat. Regardless, that doesn’t change how absolutely phenomenal this season as a whole was and I’m glad to see some more level-headed responses 😅
No words rn.. Overall 10/10 episode!! Did anyone else jump at the Akasha reference? I never seen QoD but I know of the movie and Rockstar Lestat existing so i’m intrigued why her name was brought up so soon.. Anyways i’m excited for s3, and I hope we get to see her

One tiny thing I loved from this episode was Louis touring his old neighborhood and seeing how history skewed to convey his old self as this predatory hustling black man. Nobody in present day questioned how a man so supposedly dubious had come to know this wealthy French-man? No mention of why he and his child bride shared a home with a white man? Even the fact that it was a black New Orleans native telling this story adds an extra layer to how well this show understands race politics in the US. AND The way Louis's accent just came back stronger in the car with the cab driver, the code switching!!!
Same! The way the show wants us to remember that stories changed due to perception and are distorted through memory and time! It’s the story of the story within the story, we’re getting a matryoshka doll level of layering!
why did Armand sit there and do nothing,agree to let Louis die at the trial,but then later dig Louis up? So confusing,did Armand ever love Louis?
And another thing, so was Louis the primary breadwinner because I’m wondering how it is Armand is getting kicked out of his house unless that’s not the case

Man Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid are just amazing really, their performance across the series but this episode specifically, portraying the kind of hurt that doesn't even exist in real life. I just totally love the way they and the show writers developed Louis and Lestat up until this climax of forgiveness and self-reproach The final exchange of words between them just makes me teary as hell. Louis thanking Lestat, Lestat pouring out all his true feelings and regrets. Aside from those two, Molloy was also so GOATed, doing what is so in character of him to question the truth and find out the actual scoop. Armand as well, he sold himself as the victims of the events so well, the facade of being calculated and experienced all crumbles away. I just loved this season dearly
I don't know if I like this change with Armand not saving Louis, but other than that, the episode was fantastic.
I mean they always said Loustat was endgame. They were never going to have Lestat allowing Louis to be killed if he had any way to stop it
armand still saved him by getting him out of the box, which is true to the books. as a lestat truther and book-armand enjoyer i'm pleased
The pacing and tone of this episode felt off. I think the show outdoes the movie in almost every aspect, but I preferred the movie version of Louis' revenge. I've enjoyed how they expanded Santiago's character for the show and I hoped he'd get a more satisfying death. The jazz music in the background as Louis mocked him for having a small penis was.. a choice. Just five minutes ago we had Louis plotting his revenge, talking to corpses, meowing at dead animals. I felt like that fury and madness was lost when he actually got to execute his plan. Louis and Armand going to Lestat in Marius' lair felt.. lackluster. We went from "I'll kill you" to "I have Akasha's blood" to "I'm dating Armand now" way too quick. Especially considering how just two minutes ago we had a very angry Louis telling Armand he'd never forgive him. Daniel pulling out the script and exposing Armand felt so good. Watching Armand's expressions as the truth came out was amazing. You could cut the tension in the air as Louis read through the script, Daniel went off on Armand, and Armand lost all hope of ever salvaging things in real time. Brilliant acting all around. Yet again, the entire scene felt rushed. We have built up to this moment the entire season, and after 77 years of being manipulated Louis just end things with a punch. He then goes "I am leaving and you're not going to hurt Daniel" before he just.. abandons Daniel there? Armand was just exposed for being the mastermind of Claudia and Madeleine's executions, and we found out that he had originally intended for Louis to die with them. Why on earth would Louis trust him to obey his word and not hurt Daniel? Literally five minutes after Daniel exposed him and ended their relationship too. Surely he could have stayed in Dubai until Daniel packed his bags and left. Louis going back to New Orleans and seeing Lestat's lackey hunting for rats during the tour.. again.. rushed. You're telling me there's been this vampire chasing rats using his vampire powers literally 5ft from large groups of people and nobody noticed? Not a single bad thing to say about Louis and Lestat's reunion. Give Jacob and Sam all the awards now. That entire scene was so well made. I was literally crying as they talked about their feelings and hugged each other. Scenes like this is exactly what I've come to expect from this show. I wish the rest of the episode had this energy. Daniel's interview about his book and his only defence against being called a fraud being "I've sold millions of copies of this book" felt very out of character for him. This is the same man who pulled out the receipts against a 500 year old vampire, called him out on his bullshit, and referred to him by his slave name as he did so. You're telling me he had the nerve to do that as a mere mortal and the best he could do as a vampire was "I am a bestseller. Fuck you"? Overall it was not a bad episode. However, after seeing how the show expanded on things and took their time delivering us meticulously crafted slow burners packed full of emotion, it all felt kind of rushed. We went from some of the most emotionally intense episodes in the last few weeks to Santiago's small dick and massive balls, party DJ Sam with a mask, "Siri pause", and "fuck you I'm a bestseller". This would've been so much better if it was split into two episodes instead of being crammed into a single episode. The cast was superb as always and I am looking forward to what season 3 will bring. 6.5/10
This is all brilliant and thoughtful criticism! I too felt underwhelmed by Louis’ revenge especially after Santiago’s repulsive comments about Claudia. I wasn’t too bothered by Daniel’s interview because he was blatantly insulted by the interviewer lol, he did say it was non fiction and based on real documentation but it was clear the interviewer didn’t read the book nor care to have a good faith discussion, and Daniel can be a huge asshole sometimes just for the sake of it, but I may be overthinking it haha. I hope they revisit Armand because there’s no way that’s the last we see of him right! And I agree, Louis leaving Daniel with Armand was bizarre, like they needed to speed run him meeting Lestat. Agreed on him and Lestat’s reunion, perfect and powerful and the best scene of the episode. Overall I agree the biggest issue of the episode was pacing, if it was divided into two episodes everything would have felt much more natural. I hope there’s a reasonable explanation - I believe in comparison to how phenomenal the rest of S2 was, this can probably be attributed to either the strike or being unsure of a renewal. Either way, still a phenomenal season despite a slightly clunky, mediocre finale.
I also preferred the film's version of when Louis saw Lestat again in new Orleans. Well, more like the state Tom cruise's Lestat was in . How bad he needed Louis back .

loustat is the only ship ever (i won't take criticism) that being said the finale was wrapped up wonderfully whilst still leaving threads for season 3 which I am eagerly waiting for. that reunion scene was amazingly done and i cannot stop thinking about it, the angst and the chemistry but most of all the ACTING. sam reid, jacob anderson and assad zaman I WILL GET YOU THAT EMMY TRUST 🙏🍀

Absolutely amazing season finale. Jeez this has to been one of my all time favorite series. Perfect execution every episode. Louis and Lestat embracing each other as the storm grows around them was beautiful as hell. So excited for season 3

Gods, what a finale!!!! The sky is the limit for this series, because each episode is more perfect than the previous, and it was already quite perfect since the beginning!All in all, probably the best TV adaptation of any book I have ever seen in my life, everyone involved clearly loves Rice's universe, characters and lore, and it shows! It has been a cathartic experience watching this season, with all the angst, terror, sadness and looming catastrophe, until the final episode where the masks finally fall, we get the reunion we wished for since ep 1 (which had me in tears), and we welcome a new vampire to the fold (Better late than never Daniel xoxo) This is truly an fantastic series, and I will definitely re watch both seasons multiple times!
I almost cried when Louis's original accent came back in the cab. Talking bout new edition and essencefest!!! He was finally going home! I've only been to NOLA for a day and though the summer heat made me a little delirious, the energy was indescribable. Great vegan food.
