Thats the best part of Daniel immediately calls it out. Doesn't mince his words at all. >!probably why Armand liked him so much. !< i wonder if anything will come of that.

kevinsg04

Yep, LOVE Daniel in this show

hunterglyph

Of all the early leaks, an older Daniel was the only one that really, really bothered me. Turns out the character is freaking amazing and Eric is absollutely KILLING it!

[deleted]

He's a great actor. He was also fantastic in Succession, another show about brats, control and lots of manipulation. Highly recommended if you love juicy and often hilarious family drama.

mzdrusilla

Yeah, I agree. The show needs someone there to call them out on their bullshit and tangled emotions. I also think it'll be good for when the even more problematic content comes in. There's no way they could put that stuff in without having someone there to call it out.

Nefthys

Can't wait for him to do it to Lestat too. Oh, that's going to be an absolutely hilarious mess! xD

Soft_Bid4351

simply Molloy is what you call the voice of reason

catnippedx

I think it’s also that he knows he’s dying so the fact that the vampires can kill him doesn’t have as strong of an impact either.

honeybadgergrrl

I am wondering if they are making Daniel's character a mix of Daniel and David Talbot. Did Daniel and Armand have a thing that Daniel can't remember? Will Daniel leave the Dubai apartment mortal? It's all so good. I am super stoked.

[deleted]

I forgot about David Talbot! I think you’re right! And it brings to question if Armand will turn Daniel like he did in the books.

honeybadgergrrl

I think it's a forgone conclusion that Daniel will be turned. I predict that Lestat will show up, shit will pop OFF between him and Armand, Louis will go back to Lestat, and Armand will turn Daniel so that he won't be left alone.

[deleted]

That would be very appropriate to the books.

Snoo-13087

This Daniel is waaay to old to be turned. On Prince lestat, despite Armand being the one who turns Daniel, Marius is the one that ends up living with Daniel...

[deleted]

Magnus was really old when he was turned too right? I suppose it's not as fun if you're eternally in a body of an old man but it would make an interesting story.

Snoo-13087

Magnus was not turned. He turned himself with stolen vampire blood. He was actually denied the gift for being old/deformed. The book has a whole thing about vampires not turning old and/or ugly people. Even turning David Talbot required the very contrived body swapping plot.

Rude-Let2655

oh yeah I remember that now!

Kath713

Why would he be too old? Genuinely curious about this. Interesting discussion because an older person would be wiser in life experience than a young person. Imagine Armand who never had the chance to have a human life seeing show Daniel, a man who had a full life with all its ups and downs. Armand is 500+ but Daniel has lived more, as in real life. I could see that being appealing to Armand and motivation to change Daniel.

[deleted]

I didn’t read the last three books. Although I remember a decent amount from the other books, I felt I didn’t remember enough to read the last three, so I had no idea Marius has Daniel. But Marius is also “old.” Gabrielle is also “old.” They were both middle aged for today’s standards — in their 40s when they were turned. But considered “old” for their time period.

Snoo-13087

It does add a whole bunch of "new" (to the lore, they are mostly all OP ancient vampires), lots of retcons... They are strange books. Actor playing Daniel is 69... Not sure how old they are making this Daniel to be, but huge difference...

Rude-Let2655

I hope so because the actor so wants to play a vampire!

AmbassadorProper1045

Of course. They merged the two characters. As much fun as Daniel is in the show, I love the younger neurotic book Daniel so much more.

Rude-Let2655

I love them both and the actor that plays a younger version of him.

[deleted]

Great insight! Completely agree.

PersimmonOk5523

Vampire group therapy!

Commanderfemmeshep

I gotta be honest, the whole Armand/Malloy plot in QOTD is super weird to me? So yes, so much more appreciated

NeptuneAndCherry

LOVE older Daniel. Got a bit of a crush on him 😂

Rude-Let2655

I have a crazy feeling that Daniel was turned in the 70’s and this version of him was just a suggestion that he took and he is really a young man vampire that has been brainwashed.

AmbassadorProper1045

The show condensed Daniel Molloy and David Talbot into one character. Book Daniel is youthful, funny, neurotic, smart mouthed but also sweet and naive. I'm wondering if like in the books they will de-age Daniel like what happened to David in Tale of the Body Thief since they merged the characters.
