Yes but if you love lipstick like I do, you’ll keep trying and find ones that stay put and don’t smear onto your aligners. They exist! It takes some trial and error, though. I’ve been wearing the Urban Decay Vice matte lipsticks (Backtalk is my favorite!) and they wear really well and don’t wind up on my aligners.
I find that glosses and creams do not work at all. Today I felt like being a rebel and I wore a cream lipstick and it was not a good look. 😂
I hate liquid lipsticks. People swear by the NYX ones, but I loathe them. Plus lips at the beginning of Invisalign treatment are dry enough, so who needs that! I would say try the mattes you have, and if they are also too dry, give the Urban Decay ones a try. I find they stay all day and do not dry my lips out.
I don’t know how to describe this without it sounding pervy, lol, but what you need to do is put a clean finger in your lips and pull it out while pressing your lips around your finger. Do this a couple times. It cleans off the bit of lipstick that is closest to your teeth and prevents it from getting on your aligners. This was my technique the whole time I was using Invisalign.

But I got SO tired of it always getting it on my trays, and as you mentioned, behind and even inside my top try—like, how does that even happen?? It didn’t seem to matter which formula I wore, even my tried and trues did me dirty. And I couldn’t get it out of the little crevices, it drove me crazy!
A few months ago I switched to gloss and balms and lip oils; things I didn’t have to worry about potentially embarrassing me if they got on my trays and I didn’t know it.
I can’t wait for the day when I’m done with this treatment so I can wear all the lipstick again! Until then I’ll jus be carrying around a bunch of other lip products and reapplying them ten times a day lol
I was such a lipstick girl before Invisalign, I use a lip liner now and fill in my lips with a dab of aquaphor. I have good luck the majority of the time and try to just be conscious of the fact I’m wearing it and check them in any mirror I pass lol.
I didn’t consider this to even be a thing until I found myself constantly in a state of embarrassment after realizing I potentially spent the day with product in my trays. I recently had my lips blushed to get around this, which helps bring some life to my face without risking product getting everywhere. Highly recommend if you’re interested in doing a high maintenance thing to be low maintenance in the long run!

I have some matte bullet lipsticks I could try. I would opt for liquid lipstick, but they dry out my lips too much.

Lip stains are the way to go. Fenty has Poutsicles and they are pretty darn amazing with staying power. Best part- cruelty-free!
Came here to say this. The Ulta house lip stain has become my go-to when wearing trays.

I tried that, but it doesn't help. It's in the way I move my lips over my top teeth when I talk/smile.

I learned this this hard way with red lipstick 😭 I stick to lip stains now

Some people have lipstick on teeth too.
I use NYX long wear lipstick and focus on contouring. It doesn’t stain anymore 🥹
Yeah even with vaseline, I have to keep my mouth really shut. Its annoying af at times lol
