We don't know if it's false or do we? Post this question on this sub and see what information we can gather.
In 1991, Eric Branstad killed 2 people while driving. He was only ticketed for improper lane usage & fined $15. Information on the accident has seemingly disappeared. It was reported he had just left a party.
How does that work in the State of Iowa.? Kim Reynolds gets stopped for drunk driving, twice. Who knows how often she drove drunk. Eric Branstad kills 2 people and gets charged with illegal lane change. Both Terry Branstad and Reynolds had their lawsuits paid by the state of Iowa, as requested by Reynolds and approved by Republicans. Branstad has more skeletons, I don't want to research his past. Reynolds, we see what she's doing and taking notes.
Did you also have the displeasure of going to St. Agustin's with him listening to him tell everyone that would listen that "my dad is the governor!" in a whiny bitch voice?
He was not liked...
I thought the reason there was no DWI was because, after he was airlifted to the hospital with minor injuries, the hospital staff never performed any BAC tests, and after he was released he was taken to the governor’s mansion and not the precinct for testing. One of the reporters on the scene supposed to have said that the officer told him that his breath smelt of alcohol, and there were several open containers of alcohol in the stolen van he was driving (can’t confirm, only hearsay).
I’d feel better about the whole thing if his only crime was speeding 10+ over the limit, and being stupid about passing a few weeks after getting his license…but with his future alcohol problems and the questionable procedures after the accident (which don’t feel like they’d offered to someone who wasn’t the governor’s son), it definitely feels like there’s more to the story.
>I thought the reason there was no DWI was because, after he was airlifted to the hospital with minor injuries, the hospital staff never performed any BAC tests
Rumor. Lots of things were made up about the crash.
>One of the reporters on the scene supposed to have said that the officer told him that his breath smelt of alcohol,
The police said there was no evidence of alcohol.
>and there were several open containers of alcohol in the stolen van he was driving (can’t confirm, only hearsay).
All false. The van wasn’t stolen and no open containers were found.
>it definitely feels like there’s more to the story.
Or do you just want there to be more? He was 16 at the time and made a mistake. His alcohol related charges later on were all reported and punished (it would have been really easy to not charge a kid at a school party with public intox), so what makes you think this one was? Here is [an article about the crash.](https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-des-moines-register/6439725/)
I’m only stating facts about the crash, not anything else to do with him as a person. Thanks for coming in to put words in my mouth, though. Straw man much?
You're not using straw man correctly. Like not even close. And I also put zero words in your mouth. If you're going to be a debate pervert can you at least be good at it? Now I'm going to insult your intelligence so you can tell something about ad hominen.
You absolutely put words in my mouth when you said I was defending him. The only thing I did (it’s all right there to read) was dispute inaccuracies about the crash. The person to whom I replied stated several things that were either unsubstantiated rumors or outright false. You saying that I defended *him,* which I didn’t do, then attacking me for defending him, is the definition of a straw man. I’m sorry you don’t understand what a straw man fallacy is to recognize when you’re guilty of one.
Oh my bad coming in and writing several paragraphs, line by line responding to someone giving shit to fail son Eric Branstad and citing links is DEFINITELY not defending him 🤣 You can't wrap your head around a word as simple as "defend" and want to talk about logical fallacies. Good luck with that, chief.
“Why are you in favor of spreading lies? Surely lies are bad, and since the person to whom I replied shared lies, and you are going after me for pointing out they are lies, then you must *like* lies and are also bad.”
See, that’s a straw man. While the person did indeed spread lies, you didn’t outright say they were correct and you support them. Oddly, you don’t seem to care about the facts of the crash at all, you seem much more interested in attacking me, who is just stating facts, but I digress. For the record, I’ve never met Eric, so I have no idea if he’s a “fail son” or not. Straw man… Get it now? Hope that helped. Have a nice day.
Sounds like you might want to believe there’s nothing there. You speak like it’s some sort of fact because you say it 🙄 yeah because politicians never get special treatment or anything. Look up Matt Gaetz & you can clearly see having the right daddy & name can make it all go away
There it is, he comes out of the closet as a GOP shill - Groomers Oligarchs & Pedophiles they’ll defend them until the ends of the earth if their Republicans. Drunks & murderers too. No integrity, probably thinks orange Julius Caesar should get away with it too.
It’s prolly in someone else’s name and they just operate it. I worked for a guy that had gone to prison for tax evasion so his sister technically owned everything but didn’t have anything to do with the business.
Rob Sand wrote a book about it:
https://www.amazon.com/Winning-Ticket-Uncovering-Americas-Biggest/dp/1640123717?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=d4bcbe8b-9755-4cb6-a858-4bd805d99194
So the funny part is that one of the lead people was suppose to get out of jail or whatever a few months or a year ago. Well he isn't out bc he got extra time while inside.
People will routinely fuck with you, if your about to get released, so that you get a charge and have to stay longer. This is 100% what happened so at least the guys on the inside know who he is and hate him just as much as we do lol.
Jodi Huisentruit’s disappearance. Someone on the MCPD knows something and isn’t talking. Allegedly a cop took evidence home and there isn’t a clear, discernible reason why. MCPD has made several sketch comments over the years and unfortunately I don’t think it’ll ever be solved.
The genealogical DNA databases have done wonders for cold cases with DNA evidence. But don’t know how a case like Jody would ever be solved without someone letting the cat out of the bag after all these years.
i was watching some true crime show and was thinking about this case the other day. ive never seen any documentaries or episodes of anything covering it which seems surprising. it seemed like such a big deal as a kid growing up in iowa.
Kim Reynolds dui scrubbing to make her assignable as a public servant.
Kim Reynolds cucking her her husband with Jamison, all the lawyers talked about it. Then she canned him.
“We don’t expect him to be there, I will be presiding over the Senate and obviously listening to the debate without saying anything,” he said on a call with agriculture reporters Jan. 5, 2021. “You’re asking me how I’m going to vote. I’m going to listen to that debate on what my colleagues have to say during that debate and decide how to cast my vote after considering the information before me.”
Lie much?
>Whoever was responsible for that Roll Call tweet got it wrong. Right after Roll Call has Grassley saying, "We don't expect [Pence] to be there," they tweet, "Grassley said he will listen to the debate." How does that tell us Grassley was talking about presiding over the SENATE?
The Electoral Count Act bans debate in the Joint Session.
Before 2021, the House & Senate had only twice held separate sessions to debate objections made at the Joint Session. Did the VP preside at them? No. The President pro tem did. So the norm was the PPT presides. And on Jan 6, 2021, Grassley was the PPT.
A Jan 5, 2021, article by Radio Iowa's Matt Kelley – that quotes Grassley extensively – about how, IF Mike Pence decided not to attend the SENATE session, Grassley would preside at THAT session.
Some notes about that article:
1) Matt Kelley's Grassley quotes are direct quotes from his interview of Grassley. (i.e., they're not from a Grassley staffer's "transcript")
2) Don't be thrown off by the headline: It says "during electoral college vote," not the EC "count", i.e. When the headline says, "Senator Grassley could end up presiding during the electoral college vote," that's referring to a vote in the Senate to resolve any electoral count objection made in the Joint Session.
There are no votes in the Joint Session.
[Radio Iowa](https://www.radioiowa.com/2021/01/05/senator-grassley-could-end-up-presiding-during-electoral-college-vote/)
[X thread](https://twitter.com/KDbyProxy/status/1537564379675250693?t=YazKU_Ea5ECSZE39YU_AGw&s=19)
And he said he would be presiding over debate in the Senate, not the counting of electors. Again, there is no debate in the Joint Session where the electors are counted, and the Joint Session is recessed for separate debate IF a House member and a Senator object to the same state.
Grassley knew he was plan B , thought Pence would bow out. Grassley said the quiet part out loud he was only going to “listen to the debate.” And not do a damn thing about it.
>“I’m going to be sitting in the chair listening to what all of my colleagues have to say during that debate,” Grassley says, “and at that time will decide how to cast my vote after considering all of the information before me.”
There is no debate in the Joint Session. There are no votes in the Joint Session. In the separate sessions, Grassley listened to the debate and voted to count the Dem electors from Arizona and Pennsylvania. While I have had a thoroughly enjoyable discussion, I'm going to end it for now because I have better things to do. I might start with some you know what.😉
Wasn't there a huge fraud related to the film tax credits?
And there was an employment agency embezzling money from the state at roughly the same time.
Unless I missed it the comment...no one has mentioned the the Glenwood facility using its disabled residents for sexual research purposes. Kimmy and clan knew about it and allowed it. Never heard the outcome. This was back in 2018-19.
I looked it up. Small town scandal here. One of the minors involved in the 1965 torture and murder of Silvia Likens worked at my high school for years under a new name after she’d gotten out of prison. [Here’s an article](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/iowa-teachers-aide-suspended-after-role-65-torture-death-revealed-flna1c6643498) about it.
She was suspended the year that I graduated after the school board was tipped off about her identity. There was a movie made based on Sylvia’s story called An American Crime. It’s really fucked up and sad.
That was one of the most horrifying things I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. I had never heard of this. I’m shocked and angry that all those people involved basically got away with it and were able to live their lives afterwards.
Did you know her at all? I think she was hired a few years after I graduated so I didn’t know her personally, but I knew who she was, or at least I thought I did until the story broke.
I didn’t. She was a teachers aid and only worked with students that needed extra specialized attention. I’d see her walking the halls in between class but she ways always very quiet and kept to herself.
Also another scandal in this same town, nowhere near on the same level as this but a lot more recent, the secretary-treasurer of the local first responders was arrested a couple of weeks ago and charged with having embezzled over $20k via “improper disbursements” aka writing checks to herself.
Y'all are behind /s.
The talk of the town is the 12 million dollar proposal of getting rid of the middle school and transitioning the kids back to the elementary and highschool buildings. Supposed to be a big vote in the next couple weeks.
No one has yet mentioned the Davenport apartment collapse a few months ago where three people died:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davenport_apartment_collapse
It was obviously unsafe for years but with politically connected building owners ...
And to think, I lost out on a state job because I legit had no idea an assault charge from 18/1995 was still on my record. That also cost me an apartment in Texas. But dui? No problem- run for the highest job in the state! Dumb.
Idk about now, the job rejection due to it was in 2007/8. The apartment in 2012. Considering it was a month after I turned 18, the other party was violent and intoxicated… I was extremely shocked by both situations. I had no idea an aggravated misdemeanor several years in the past could still be problematic.
Corey Weineke murder in West Liberty. Continues to be a scandal as the wrong person was convicted a few years back after 30 years based on recalled testimony of a woman who was a nine year old child at the time. The actual murderer was most likely someone who killed his wife (who had been screwing around at one time with Corey) and then killed himself two/three years after the murder. The wrongly convicted is still sitting in prison. For now.
How about Mary Beth Haglin in 2016, the Cedar Rapids CSD "teacher" of some sort who had sex with a student, told her peers, got swept under the rug, them went to the media and blew up the case, then went on Dr. Phil and played the victim card, then went to do some semi-amatuer porn and also worked at Woody's for a while ....... did I get all that right?
I just remember how completely oblivious she was that what she was doing was illegal and morally unacceptable. Like on Dr Phil he explained it to her step by step and she still thought she did nothing wrong
Probably not the biggest scandal in Iowa, however there was lesbian love triangle between two married teachers and the principal at St Edward’s school in Waterloo in the early 90’s I believe. One of them was a stalker but not sure if she spent time in jail.
At the same church and around the same time, a priest died of auto-erotic asphyxiation in the rectory.
This is eerily similar to my catholic hs in the western chicago burbs what the fuck. Only difference is the replacement temp principal and school priest was later found to be a pedo. But yeah. Two lesbian teachers had a relationship and one cheated on the other with the principal, a woman, who was married to a man. They all got fired.

I worked with the ass, he made the mistake once of telling his on the air partner I didn't know what I was doing (I'm an electronic engineer). They were doing a remote through the phone lines. Every time he spoke, I tapped a 9volt battery across the lines. His anger and frustration was amusing.
My final encounter with the idiot ending with me slamming his face into a desk. He was shortly banned from the property.
I worked for Toyota of Des Moines when he hosted his radio show front the showroom. So annoying on air and off… and I never heard him spout any sports knowledge. He left that to his co-host. All Marty ever did was scream controversial hot-takes.
This is what I was going to say. It was a classic.

One that hasn't been mentioned yet. Kim's Degree.
Steven Leath, the president of ISU, awarded Kim a Bachelor of Liberal Studies under very dubious claims and circumstances.
And immediately before assuming the governor office, which happens to require a college degree.
Iirc she first started college over four decades earlier. Im not shaming nontraditional college students, but as you said the circumstances of her finally obtaining a degree are shady.
I'm amazed no one's mentioned the recent [state university's athletic teams caught in online betting.](https://www.kcci.com/article/iowa-sports-gambling-investigation-cyclones-hawkeyes-charged/44714149) The one that arguably eviscerated ISU football's best talent, and is currently used as the prime example in every other NCAA athletic programs' anti-gambling efforts.
Or [Iowa's drug scandal](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/542716-iowa-football-drug-scandal-complete-overview-of-mondays-controversy) from 13 years ago.
There's also the ISU [Leath](https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/education/2016/09/23/iowa-state-president-damaged-school-airplane/90962114/)\-[Rastetter](https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/investigations/readers-watchdog/2016/07/08/regents-firm-sold-land-isu-president-leath/86815250/) scandals from a few years ago. How Jim Kurtenbach escaped despite being involved with both & a shady-assed rat hucking for Workday while holding jobs at ISU and in the Iowa Deptartment of Administrative Services amazes me.
Or how about Men's Basketball coach Larry Eustachy showing up at a college party in Columbia, drinking with the students and shitting on his team.
Kent Sorenson, after endorsing Michelle Bachman in 2011, sold his endorsement to staffers from the Ron Paul campaign. And thinking no one would find out why he did it.

All the Jack Decoster stuff was pretty interesting. The ongoing Summit CO2 pipeline is a huge scandal as well, one of the biggest ever in Iowa. Honorable mention goes to Johnny Gosch.
we dont really know as all the local newspapers have gone away that was on purpose to hide all the local corruption that is done by local politicians for large corporations!
I have thought about this. I don't necessarily think it's intentional. I just think less money is flowing into newspapers/small news stations these days. It takes a lot of time to do proper investigative reporting. The resources have shriveled up since the early 2000s. At the national level, they care more about what fake stories are being posted to r/AITA than in small town Iowa.
u had well known local reporters. now u have mega corps telling u the news wich is the same as facebook u cant and dont trust anything on there WHO? can u trust now? social media comes from all corners of the planet and u dont know who is paying who for a story or why the story was written but with local newspapers u knew it was from local people u lived with and about local problems mostly so local problems would be fixed. now nothing hardly gets fixed and all the small towns have or are dieing a slow death! when u dont fix your local problems things just get worse. the rich media corps say what they are paid to say take fox news who was tucker carlson's main supporter My pillow guy! why was tucker fired because that was the deal fox made in the court settlement for peddling my pillows guys and othes fake news! tell me where im wrong please! im not the smartest as i have a few different things intertwined in this i think!
There wasn’t any grand conspiracy here. It’s the effects of the internet. People don’t wanna pay for the local papers and that’s that in fairly short order.
I don’t know how that gets fixed.
But I typically try to cross reference news especially sites I don’t recognize. No quick links to who owns/runs/edits? No credibility.
Not sure if it's the craziest, but it certainly is the most heinous. A Des Moines adult male sexually abused his two-year-old son to death in June of 1978.
https://law.justia.com/cases/iowa/supreme-court/1981/63390-0.html
Seth Techel had two hung jury trials in rural counties before finally being convicted in Davenport for having murdered his pregnant wife. The good ol boy mentality almost allowed him to get away with it.
The Honey War: It was around 1850 Keokuk when a rapscallion of a Missouri farmer tried to harvest a honey tree from an Iowa farm. Claiming his property at the unmarked state border was past the prized tree the obstinate Missourian had to be driven off at pitchfork. As more pitchforks were deployed on both sides this resulted in increased border tensions leading to the state militia being called out. Reasonable voices prevailed and it avoided becoming a shooting match. I think Iowa won but details are sketchy as I am only recalling this from 60 year old history class memories. Now off to Google to check my facts.
Small town scandal but a hot topic right now

The Gang They Couldn't Catch: The Story of America's Greatest Modern-Day Bank Robbers-And How They Got Away With It
The Gang They Couldn’t Catch, a true-crime, non-fiction novel originally published in 1993. At the time, the Feds had a pretty good idea that an independent gang from Des Moines was likely responsible for at least $12M worth of armed thefts across the US. They just couldn't prove it or get anyone to talk. By 1981 Grandstaff and crew were officially wanted for questioning regarding several million-dollar-plus armed robberies across the US. But the gang was aware that they were wanted and were living underground.
Their MO was pulling off brazen, high dollar robberies quickly and professionally, leaving behind no prints or other identifiable traces, always wearing disguises of some sort and being very courteous. Escaping using numerous vans and vehicles, common, stolen and clean, and effectively melt away several minutes before the authorities arrived. They were successfully hitting 3-4 jobs a year in the late 70s – early 80s.
Take your pick:
The time Governor branstad:
1. ILLegally removed his son Eric out of the state after his 3rd OWI and 2 counts of manslaughter.
2. Blocked the United States Postal service from cutting cost and closing unnecessary/ underused rural locations, Brandstead was the landlord of.
3. The time the Iowa DOT was forced by the Governor to grossly over pay for property owned by Knapp to relocate to Ankeny.
Or
The numerous sports or university coaching scandals.
Or the multiple felonies committed by former ISU president Steven Leath.
Yes there are many many more especially around the Family leader, WHO, and Kent Sorenson.
The attempted eminent domain push by Summit Carbon and Bruce Ratstetter. His farming operations, run by Summit Farms, collects the 10% ethanol tax credit, when he sells his corn, funded by taxpayers. Summit Carbon is also using Kim Reynolds to push through eminent domain, which is worth millions in real estate and millions in Carbon Reduction tax credits that are traded on the commodity market. Carbon Dioxide is the worst greenhouse gas but stays in the atmosphere for 50 years, Methane another major greenhouse gas goes away in 15 years and can be used to power engines or turbines for power. The hogs and cattle from Summit Farms produce enough Methane to create a Methane capture and storage fabric storage tank or compressed and put into LP type tanks for heating and cooling of homes and businesses. It’s double or even triple dipping. Hopefully the pipeline has died a quiet death, but knowing the players, I doubt it.

Certainly not the biggest but crazy all the same--the Jones County Calf Case.
It is in the same vein as the Honey War. A simple matter became so convoluted and ridiculous that it went to the state supreme court multiple times and the silliness of the case ended up being carried in newspapers around the world for a quarter of a century.
Basically, a guy got accused of cattle rustling by his neighbors who had good reason to believe he was guilty. But he was acquitted. And many say he was innocent of stealing four calves valued at $24 (some sources say there were more calves and more money involved).
Then he sued his neighbors for ruining his good name. And neither side would back down and the case was tried piecemeal in different counties all over the state for almost 25 years. In the end, every person involved (except the lawyers) went bankrupt and many had started out wealthy.
Some estimates put the total amount of money spent on the case to be around $75,000. And that was in the 1870s shortly after Iowa became a state.
The accused had to sell his farm to help pay costs. He moved to Anamosa and was eventually elected mayor.
There has been much written about the case and details vary (particularly anything to do with money) depending on the source. Apparently, there was fake news in the 1870s.
Harry Milligan went missing in 1984 in Albia, Iowa after winning a decent amount of money in an after hours poker game. Rumored to have been killed that night. I grew up in Albia, and everyone has theories about who did it. His brother became a cop and has been investigating for years.
Brandstad's son killing people while driving drunk and seeing no jail time.
Same lawyer as Kim I believe
$34.50 in court costs for improper lane change.
This is the comment I came for. Can attest that he was worthless from age 10 to now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you also have the displeasure of going to St. Agustin's with him listening to him tell everyone that would listen that "my dad is the governor!" in a whiny bitch voice? He was not liked...
Hey I did! But was there when his youngest son went there.
10 is oddly specific, do you know him? Inquiring minds wanna know
Met them once , all it took for life
Speaking of which, whatever happened to him? I always thought he'd do something his dad couldn't cover up and end up in prison eventually
Surprise, he's a lobbyist like Hunter Biden. https://theintercept.com/2020/10/15/eric-branstad-trump-china-ambassador/
Holy shit!?! Why am I always suprised people are crooked as fuck? I should know better
There is an unsolved hit and run near where the Brandstad family lives that many suspect might have been his doing as well.
Not only that, but Brandstads face looks the way it does because his son beat the shit out of him while drunk
Thought he was a sledding accident
False. The crash did not involve alcohol. That was just a rumor that went around. He was, however, fined for public intoxication later on.

Surely lies are bad, and since the person to whom I replied shared lies, and you are going after me for pointing out they are lies, then you must *like* lies and are also bad.” See, that’s a straw man.
What facts do you have that show there is definitely something there?
Wow, some people will really defend the honor of alcoholics and murderers. What a world.
You make a good point, Ted Kennedy *was* a leading Democrat for decades.
There it is, he comes out of the closet as a GOP shill - Groomers Oligarchs & Pedophiles they’ll defend them until the ends of the earth if their Republicans. Drunks & murderers too. No integrity, probably thinks orange Julius Caesar should get away with it too.
What is your source to definitely say there was no cover up? 1 news article?
What’s your source to say there was? Less than 1 news article?

Honestly, the Tipton lottery scandal was pretty big. There were multiple podcasts that covered it even.
I like the part where the Tipton bros somehow own property with millions despite paying almost none of their ordered restitution.
It’s prolly in someone else’s name and they just operate it. I worked for a guy that had gone to prison for tax evasion so his sister technically owned everything but didn’t have anything to do with the business.
Thank Rob Sand for breaking prosecuting the case.
Rob Sand wrote a book about it: https://www.amazon.com/Winning-Ticket-Uncovering-Americas-Biggest/dp/1640123717?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=d4bcbe8b-9755-4cb6-a858-4bd805d99194
When was this? I don’t recall this for some reason

[удалено]
The genealogical DNA databases have done wonders for cold cases with DNA evidence. But don’t know how a case like Jody would ever be solved without someone letting the cat out of the bag after all these years.
i was watching some true crime show and was thinking about this case the other day. ive never seen any documentaries or episodes of anything covering it which seems surprising. it seemed like such a big deal as a kid growing up in iowa.
I feel like it's one of those cases where they know who did it, but haven't enough evidence to go to trial.
They had enough evidence until MCPD got involved. Somebody got cover from them and imo the call came from inside the house.
Villisca axe murders and Johnny Gosch’s disappearance have gone national. There’s also the Sueppel murders.
I was just thinking about the Villisca murders.

What does DUI scrubbing mean? Everyone knows about it.
She got charged for first offense dui... twice...
It is not uncommon for charges to be amended or reduced. This is how the legal system works if you paid attention.
That’s how it works for rich white people…

Pretty much. Looks like he also downvoted your comment. 😂
Grassley announcing Jan 5th he not Pence would be Presiding over the electoral vote count Jan 6th. What did Grassley know? And when did he know it?!?!
Thank you!!!! I can’t figure out why Iowans don’t know this small tidbit that clearly shows Grassley was in on the coup.
ABSOLUTELY
Slippery Chuck. Always in the right with that big awe shucks grin. You’re awful and provencal.
What?
That's not what he said...that's what Roll Call reported he said. They were wrong.
“We don’t expect him to be there, I will be presiding over the Senate and obviously listening to the debate without saying anything,” he said on a call with agriculture reporters Jan. 5, 2021. “You’re asking me how I’m going to vote. I’m going to listen to that debate on what my colleagues have to say during that debate and decide how to cast my vote after considering the information before me.” Lie much?
Some notes about that article: 1) Matt Kelley's Grassley quotes are direct quotes from his interview of Grassley. (i.e., they're not from a Grassley staffer's "transcript") 2) Don't be thrown off by the headline: It says "during electoral college vote," not the EC "count", i.e. When the headline says, "Senator Grassley could end up presiding during the electoral college vote," that's referring to a vote in the Senate to resolve any electoral count objection made in the Joint Session. There are no votes in the Joint Session. [Radio Iowa](https://www.radioiowa.com/2021/01/05/senator-grassley-could-end-up-presiding-during-electoral-college-vote/) [X thread](https://twitter.com/KDbyProxy/status/1537564379675250693?t=YazKU_Ea5ECSZE39YU_AGw&s=19)
There wasn’t going to be a debate without the false electors, he knew. Not once did he say “if”.
>“I’m going to be sitting in the chair listening to what all of my colleagues have to say during that debate,” Grassley says, “and at that time will decide how to cast my vote after considering all of the information before me.” There is no debate in the Joint Session. There are no votes in the Joint Session. In the separate sessions, Grassley listened to the debate and voted to count the Dem electors from Arizona and Pennsylvania. While I have had a thoroughly enjoyable discussion, I'm going to end it for now because I have better things to do. I might start with some you know what.😉
So Grassley won’t mind a special master going through his emails and phone records as they retain to Jack Smiths fake electors investigation?
Dude, you were proven wrong. Apologize, let it go, and move on.
Say WHAAAAAAAAAT!???
Wasn't there a huge fraud related to the film tax credits? And there was an employment agency embezzling money from the state at roughly the same time.
Unless I missed it the comment...no one has mentioned the the Glenwood facility using its disabled residents for sexual research purposes. Kimmy and clan knew about it and allowed it. Never heard the outcome. This was back in 2018-19.

A fellow Comet I see. Yeah, I would have never guessed it because she just mainly kept to herself.
Holy shit. Not really the kind of person I’d want working with my special needs child. That’s chilling!
Also another scandal in this same town, nowhere near on the same level as this but a lot more recent, the secretary-treasurer of the local first responders was arrested a couple of weeks ago and charged with having embezzled over $20k via “improper disbursements” aka writing checks to herself.
YUP that’s the talk of the town right now
Y'all are behind /s. The talk of the town is the 12 million dollar proposal of getting rid of the middle school and transitioning the kids back to the elementary and highschool buildings. Supposed to be a big vote in the next couple weeks.
Holy shit.
No one has yet mentioned the Davenport apartment collapse a few months ago where three people died: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davenport_apartment_collapse It was obviously unsafe for years but with politically connected building owners ...
https://cbs2iowa.com/news/local/court-blocks-online-access-to-governor-reynolds-drunk-driving-arrest-records
And to think, I lost out on a state job because I legit had no idea an assault charge from 18/1995 was still on my record. That also cost me an apartment in Texas. But dui? No problem- run for the highest job in the state! Dumb.
As someone that also has an assault charge, it still effects you 28years later?
For now.
Who did you hear this info?
I’m from the town.
Know people from west liberty but never have heard that information. Would love to know more tho.
They all got fired.
>auto-erotic asphyxiation in the rectory. Sounds more like the erect-ory.
Do you have any news stories/links about this???

The Postville immigration raid at the kosher meat plant was pretty big.
Not sure if it was state house or senate members…but the “meeting” at a Colfax strip club with the largest kitchen in Iowa. I’m thinking 1980s.
It was Mingo. My dad had an "I was in the Kitchen" tshirt from that bar.
I remember when that happend. Talk of the town for a while
It was the biggest thing to ever happen in Mingo, I think
It was a biggie. All the other gossip was pretty tame

One that hasn't been mentioned yet. Kim's Degree. Steven Leath, the president of ISU, awarded Kim a Bachelor of Liberal Studies under very dubious claims and circumstances.
That's because every other school she attended required her to actually go to class. More privilege on display.

And thinking no one would find out why he did it. u/Virtual-Cook9946 mentioned the Mingo Stag Party - [here's an article](https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/local/columnists/kyle-munson/2018/03/14/iowa-senate-waveland-tap-kiss-most-notorious-iowa-political-barroom-scandal-since-mingo-bachelor-par/419545002/) comparing that massacre to Bix Dix gettin' some lip gloss off a lobbyist he wasn't married to. Nobody has mentioned them because they’re all small potatoes sports things in the grand scheme and not particularly interesting in the long term.

we dont really know as all the local newspapers have gone away that was on purpose to hide all the local corruption that is done by local politicians for large corporations!

Gang Lu, I remember this well. A friend of mine was down the hall and left the building literally seconds before it happened.

What about the Ashley Okland murder?

The Gang They Couldn't Catch: The Story of America's Greatest Modern-Day Bank Robbers-And How They Got Away With It The Gang They Couldn’t Catch, a true-crime, non-fiction novel originally published in 1993.
Take your pick: The time Governor branstad: 1. Or The numerous sports or university coaching scandals. Or the multiple felonies committed by former ISU president Steven Leath. Yes there are many many more especially around the Family leader, WHO, and Kent Sorenson.
Kim Reynolds' various accumulated scandals, going back 20 years. And the fact she's repeatedly gotten out of full punishment for them.
Grant Wood lost his art teacher job at a Cedar Rapids public school because of rumors about his sexuality iirc.

Iowa City Sueppel Murders. Surprised nobody said that one yet, so sad...
Certainly not the biggest but crazy all the same--the Jones County Calf Case. [https://images.ourontario.ca/Partners/CKLPL/CKLPL003228425\_1124p.pdf](https://images.ourontario.ca/Partners/CKLPL/CKLPL003228425_1124p.pdf) It is in the same vein as the Honey War.
Bob Knapp's death. Ruled a suicide, but looked like a hit job. Maybe it's just me. Not really a scandal, but a mystery.
Brian Ferenz keeping his job as OC even though Iowa couldn't score at a whore convention.

Harry Milligan went missing in 1984 in Albia, Iowa after winning a decent amount of money in an after hours poker game. Rumored to have been killed that night. I grew up in Albia, and everyone has theories about who did it. His brother became a cop and has been investigating for years.
