You probably could have utilised the W better as you used it no where near its full potential and the other thing you did wrong was not ban Volibearš
Nahh i dont agree on volibear, you beat him if you got items. Trundle, Jax is more of a problem for you. And Vex for mid in high elo is a counter, Pantheon mid is also a counter for irelia.
Nah trust me ur so wrong. The rank 2 Korea irelia made a vid showing how the matchup really isnāt that bad. If u prep wave properly u can q back to bait w. I always beat vex.
Should I default to Wāing my ult? Not sure where I would have used it. Iām under the assumption that the DmgReduct is busted but I donāt really know when an enemy champ is going to burst me.
Well, your W holds through stuns so I recommend that once you all in, see how many autos you get off at full stacks and before you see an ability animation, people rarely do more than dump their whole kit at the same time so make sure that at their best opportunity to hurt you, you are tanking most of it with your W. Preferably at melee range because you can wait out your Q cooldown and keep your stacks, plus you also do like twice the damage for a full duration W than the quick kind in the clip. Also is helpful to use your E on top of yourself at the same exact time as you use W, it hides the E animation and the knives beneath your body, catches a lot off guard. (You can do the same things with EQ on a minion when itās low to hide animation)
What the otherguy said. But also. I use R Q(the carry) W.
The carry will frequently panic flash and the peel is dumped on you. W gives you a chance to breath and see their reposition after burning dashes flash and cc.
Another good time to W is after getting a kill if you have triumph. As the 10% heal back is not instant but delayed. So many times I've died waiting for that heal. W will buy you the time you need to get that heal and continue onwards.
I mean in the Pantheon matchup, just hold W before he jumps on you, now he dealt like 100-200 dmg to you instead of 1000. Pantheon has now lost all his cooldowns. You win.
I didn't like your movement at first it was predictable, linear and erratic, your mouse movement is slow and, and I think that the ult connecting with everyone was very lucky. Honestly you should improve your mouse movement. Try making it bigger. It helps a lot with kiting and movwment in general. More clicks.
Not sure if I misunderstood what you are saying, but you actually want the mouse very close to your character almost always. But I agree he needs to be clicking much much more.
So letās break this play down along a couple of different viewpoints.
Macro:
Why are we making this play? So enemy inhib down, elder up, have soul tells me 1 clean fight wins the game. Thatās as good of a reason to look for a fight as any. Fighting in mid lane with lots of space to dash and as they are walking into you to contest for elder is also good as thatās a good spot for Irelia to hit and dodge and kite.
Current condition of Champ:
Half health, Full Mana is good along with flash coming up. Item state is actually not that great. Youāre past the two item spike and now you really need your mythic. I find once you get Goredrinker in the build the durability peaks. Thatās probably why it felt close tbh. Also 200 farm at 29 minutes is Okay on Irelia, you probably need to prioritize farm a little bit higher in order to cleanly get to that mythic now and thatās the most consistent way to make this play better.
Micro:
You use ult with W and E down thatās obviously bad, you get more margin of victory with more dashes and more damage negation of W.
Tips to take:
- Focus on making item breakpoints before the key moments of the game
- Be more patient with spells
Edit: didnāt see Jakāsho so Macro probably isnāt so relevant a tip
Lots of of general mechanics that could use some serious work. ( camera movement, clicks, where you hold mouse, number of inputs, etc) your w usage is pretty much always incorrect and in hindsight the correct way to use it with this clip as an example would be immediately after ulting.
Additionally, greeding optimal resets was incorrect. In this specific play, the time where you q in should instead be where you ulti. That would guarantee the play is winning and that you will never die, the way you q in initially makes it hard for seraphine to back you up and thats the difference maker for nearly dying.
Your movement feels off, your clicks are sparse. At the start you were moving back and forth in a straight line. Try to keep your cursor near your character, as this will make it easier to react and change direction.
As other pointed out, the biggest mistake IMO is W usage, the tap damage it does is negligible, and if you were expecting to ult it wasn't necessary to maintain the passive uptime.
Iām very new to league (less than 5 days played), so I wasnāt really aware of how many enemies there were below Voli.
I know I havenāt been getting good value with W, as I really donāt know everyones ability and their animations. I saw someone said I should have Wāed the ult? I kinda feel like a pylon when I charge it up and kind of get bursted down. Does my positioning help alleviate that?
Yes you used a W just for one stack, learn to time it when they burst you. It has 60% dmg reduction for physical dmg and like 30-40% dmg reduction for magic damage. You can also hold it for almost 2 seconds.
I personally not a fan of engaging first with irelia cause you aren't much of a tank from the item build. ( in a team fight) youre more of a follow up champion.
Sometimes it works out that you have enough resistances/hp to survive the enemy dmg rotation but i often just died instantly without doing any dmg.
In your case youl could have let lee sin kick someone and then engage > some dmg/spells are already focused on lee sin aka. less chance for u to die.
Or let diana engage with ult or something
You probably could have utilised the W better as you used it no where near its full potential and the other thing you did wrong was not ban Volibearš

Vex is easily beatable, if volibear is human itās unwinnable
Irelia canāt do anything against any decent Vex. They just have to hold their w and passive and you literally canāt engage ever.
How do they clear waves then?
Vex Q and auto attacks are plenty of waveclear
Yes, but that expends Vex passive
She can e-q to clear most of the wave and then back off and just finish off the remaining minions with autos.
Nah trust me ur so wrong. The rank 2 Korea irelia made a vid showing how the matchup really isnāt that bad. If u prep wave properly u can q back to bait w. I always beat vex.
But then she would have no fear ?
No.. irelia vs vex matchup is on unplayable in high elo for a reason.. low elo its almost free so i get what you are saying.
The rank 2 irelia in Korea made and video on vex and he disagrees that it is that hard of a matchup.
Lethal Tempo + ignite vs Voli

Linear how so? As in I was walking in a straight line towards the beginning of the clip?
1. LOCKED CAM. UNLOCK IT NOW 2. Tap W
Not tap W. Hold it until you engage and use it before getting cc'ed.
Dude asked what was wrong with his gameplay. I said that locked cam and tapping W are
And you did it pretty horribly. He isn't going to understand anything bu reading "tap w"
Dude asked what is wrong. I described things that I had considered to be wrong. It's not that complicated
I have played with unlocked cam all my life, but locked cam seems so chill š¤£

Just passing by to say good job! c:
biggest mistake , building jak sho (very cringe)

Prob couldāve used w better but I get it. You did that for your stacks Also I wouldāve ulted before q and then used that mark while ult was flying
Locked cammmm
