Hmm you've got me there.

S-S-Ahbab

That's right. They would join the hound!

deadliestcrotch

Nah, the hounds are all around cunts best I can tell. A good boy would likely join the Titan division even though their leader is a dumb dick. Maybe the fox division if they had the zoomies frequently before ascending.

mp3max

Ya got it wrong as well. A truly good boy/girl would be such a good Hound they'd kick the current Makiel's ass out of his position.

deadliestcrotch

Unfortunately a judge has to die, step down willingly, or be removed by the other judges. So I really didn’t get it wrong. He’s also not the only cunt hound we’ve seen. Kiuran was a total prat.

mp3max

So you're going to condemn thousands of people because of only 2 assholes that we got to see? Truly, no different than the Hounds you so critique!

deadliestcrotch

Yeah, we’ve seen zero hounds that weren’t dicks so I’m going on the sample I have. It seems pretty par for the course. The previous hound was a dick, too. He wanted to kill Oz for making the scythe. The other 6 voted to make him judge. Even the previous Titan wanted Oz to replace him. We’ve also seen a few really decent members of the Titans, including one with a POV section of a prologue.

redarm122

That's all true, plus we know from one of the Suriel scenes that the Hound division generally worship Makiel because of how capable he is, dick or not. So even if you found one that disagreed with him, it's doubtful any would go against him.

Captain_StarLight1

How about the Wolf division?

deadliestcrotch

They’re just combat nuts. Fury is a wolf. He’s generally pretty likeable and reasonable. So maybe. Golden retrievers aren’t known to be fierce.

Darklord-Ravensblood

They also aren't hounds so it wouldn't really make sense to join the Hound division anyway. I think they'd make a great Phoenix though.

Mindless-Ability-781

How do we know Fury is a wolf? When he ascended there were fox banners..

deadliestcrotch

The foxes control threshold, which is where all ascendants are shunted off to. You think fury, who was practically a spacial travel reject, could be a fox? Of course he is a wolf. Will confirmed it in a livestream.

Mindless-Ability-781

Didn't know that Will had stated he was a wolf. I did ask how you knew, I haven't seen the live streams and was just curious, calling him a spacial travel reject is kind of harsh, he had only had his sage abilities less than a week, he wouldn't be an expert that quickly.

Kelpsie

No spaces before/after the !, or your spoilers don't work on all clients.

S-S-Ahbab

Yep. A century gathering madra, they would become sacred beasts. Now, how would they last a century without being a sacred beast i don't know. Src: unsouled, when Lindon was checking whether that tree was an ancestral tree

yakkobsbarrelbeast

I think it would be less time than that really, given it's stated from Lindon's point of view which is inaccurate at best in Unsouled. But even then if we take the fact at face value, that is in Sacred Valley. What might take a century in SV might only take 50 years in the Desolate Wilds, or only 20 in the Night Wheel valley. Also, their descendants may be born as sacred beasts (maybe, that is just speculation on my part).

FiveFingeredKing

I also think trees specifically take longer. So, if you get an old enough dog, in a rich enough environment and a helping of luck, you might have the recipe for the next woof sage

Darklord-Ravensblood

Lindon actually did specify Sacred beasts, and said Ancestral Trees could take up 500 years. But thats in Sacred Valley where the thin aura and the suppression field would make it take 10x longer then normal.

Darklord-Ravensblood

I think your underestimating just how much denser the aura in the NWV is.

LearnDifferenceBot

> think your underestimating *you're *Learn the difference [here](https://www.wattpad.com/66707294-grammar-guide-there-they%27re-their-you%27re-your-to).* *** ^(Greetings, I am a language corrector bot. To make me ignore further mistakes from you in the future, reply `!optout` to this comment.)

yakkobsbarrelbeast

I was initially going to say ten, but that sounded like I was exaggerating the difference.

mynewaccount5

I guess you'd need to take them to a very aura rich area and give them lots of elixirs.

Trombolorokkit

you would have to put me down harder than a specific monarch to stop me from making my dog a sacred beast.

mynewaccount5

Mine would be the tree branch sage.

Iwasforger03

It might take less time outside sacred valley

Entertainmentmoo

And that is in sacred valley. I bet most other animals take a year outside of the valley.

deadliestcrotch

That’s mundane trees, not sacred beasts. Sacred beasts are typically born with a core like humans.

tadir

Let us not forget that >! Elder Whisper is a Sacred Beast, !< so there is already a canonical example of a canine sacred beast.

mynewaccount5

Yeah I wasn't sure if sacred animals were like their own category (like pokemon).

Soranic

He's a fox though. Even if they're grouped in Canidae and Caninea, they're in the vulpini group next.

tadir

If we want to get pedantic with this, all members of the caninae family are also known as canines, including foxes, jackals, wolves, and dogs. Foxes are ALSO vulpine, but they are absolutely canine. But this all has no real relevance to the topic, which is can canines be sacred beasts. The answer is unequivocally yes.

SuperStarPlatinum

Any plant or animal can become a sacred beast. They just need to figure out how to cycle madra. Obviously the more aura rich the environment the easier it is and the more common they are.

AnAcceptableUserName

That's my understanding - mundane plants and animals can become cultivators if they figure it out. >!Shen was a lion. Orthos is a tortoise. Emriss is a *tree*. Little else seems like much of a narrative stretch from there.!< Doggo Monarch is good. What about the Axolotl Monarch?

ANSPRECHBARER

Why are you calling Orthos a tortoise? He is obviously a dragon.

SuperStarPlatinum

He'll prove his more of a Dragon than any other Dragon when he manifests the Dragon Icon.

ragingdeltoid

He's a Turtle. And a magnificent one.

CrystalClod343

Question is, what sort of dog breeds does Cradle have?

[deleted]

Good question actually. Would they need shepherd dogs for instance? Hunting dogs wouldn't really be of much use unless they were already huge Sacred Beasts, same for guard dogs. I'm sure some breeds of dogs exist, but the people of Cradle just don't seem to have as much use for them like we do, which I think would limit their variety.

shamanProgrammer

Shiba Inu and Pekingese probably. Or the 110 equivalent.

Jewnius

I would love to see a Golden Retriever Monarch. Let it manifest the Joy icon and let Eithan be jealous.

TheStoneArrow

i don’t see why not i can’t imagine how horrible things would be in unkempt cities with all the sacred flys buzzing around

ANSPRECHBARER

You just offended every body-part I have and each of them are in attack mode.

mega_nova_dragon1234

Yes I think any animal can become a sacred beast. Dogs certainly. Skysworn and Ghostwater: >! In skysworn walking through the cloud castle town, lindon hears talking dogs. And then in Ghostwater, when Ziel returns to the Beast King in the Wasteland, there is a pack of dogs talking and fighting over a bone or something. Edit to add: if we go off the indicators given via dragons, this would mean the dogs are at least gold, probably high gold or true gold as they can talk (iirc when yerin faces a low gold dragon it is said to be more beastial and can’t talk cos it’s not advanced enough) !<

ANSPRECHBARER

Reigan Shen is a literal example of this,

Ok_Worker_2940

Shen was born a Sacred Beast

Celestial_Blu3

What I’ve been thinking about recently is if a sacred beast can have a blood shadow. I don’t think we’ve seen anyone but humans in Redmoon hall?

Soranic

We actually did see some in a later book. >!Monstrous shadows AND blood spawn. Some of the shadows hollowed out their hosts, some did not. I don't know if the hosts were sacred beasts though, or just monster species. Like a bear and a sacred bear can both be hosts.!<

Mindless-Ability-781

Well, a kraken had one, so there's that...

Celestial_Blu3

Yea, just read that scene last night on my reread. I’d forgotten about it

birdiedude

Yes, even a flea can advance: https://www.abidanarchive.com/events/1-cradle/#e198

TranslatorBroad1361

Not a will wight publication, but very similar power structure in Beware of Chicken; a cultivation story. Short answer based off of that book is a big yes

Archeagnus

The great and mighty Walnut, master of the forest, Guardian of the oppressed, the Squirrel Monarch, would say so, yes.

Mindless-Ability-781

I would be interested to see a monarch butterfly monarch
