true.... a lot of bebop artists seemed to do that...sort of like hardcore punk bands from the 80s...lol.... Monk had a few named after himself but he also wrote a great tune that he named after Bud Powell
The other day, on the syndicated jazz programming broadcast that many public radio stations use, I heard "Blues for Oscar," a jazz composition written by Horace Silver paying homage to jazz DJ Oscar Treadwell, who had a nightly broadcast on WGUC in Cincinnati. Later, after he died. WVXU had a show that played his shows from the tape library he left behind.
~~"Song to John, Part 1" and 2 by Stanley Clarke also presumably named for McLaughlin.~~ And "Go Ahead John" on Miles Davis' Big Fun.
**EDIT:** Also, speaking of Miles' song named after himself on Bitches Brew, there is "John's Song #2" on [The Lost Trident Sessions.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Trident_Sessions)
Miles also has a song named after himself on Bitches Brew
Charlie Parker name-checked himself in a song: "Ornithology".

Actually both of Stanley’s “Songs to John” are dedicated to Coltrane, McLaughlin plays on them though
Oh, dang, well, thanks for letting me know
Song to John was for Coltrane if memory serves
