You actually don't need technical skills to climb it (we covered this in a previous thread with references). You need tens of thousands of dollars or even 100k, lots of time to acclimate, and oxygen because of the death zone. Once you're in the death zone, because the conditions there are incompatible with life, you can actually still be moving, conscious, and will die sometime later as has happened numerous times. The issue is that if you spend too long in the death zone because you're too slow, you will die. This is why poor mountaineers can actually make it because it's not highly technical and it's a race to not spend too much time there going up and coming down because there's a base camp below the death zone.
To be honest, by now I just imagine most of the absolute chuds who climb Everest pay the Sherpas who are actually highly skilled mountaineers to drag/carry them most of the way to the top. The biggest drama is whether they can take an Instagrammable image in.time before their brains shut down from lack of oxygen or not.
The mountain should be closed to the general public and admired from a distance. Let rich morons do something else in their desperate search for a sensation powerful enough to penetrate their gathering alienation....like visiting the Titanic is a glorified tuna can.
